  1. The PowerWagon is a true off-road adventure vehicle. I've been in the passenger seat while the RAM rep was driving it full force taking leaps off hills with all 4 wheels off the ground. The power wagon has a remote detachable anti-roll bar, giant shocks, giant ground clearance, and a hugely strong steel frame that is used in the same trucks capable of towing 35 thousand pounds. No, the Rivian is not in the same class. It's barely in the F-150's same class. I look at it as a Honda Ridgeline EV.

  2. There still won't be a road legal version of the Rivian on the road in 12 months.. is my prediction.

  3. Until these EV startup companies have something to sell and they pass safety requirements they're completely insignificant to me. All fluff no substance yet.

  4. So I was very right in my comment on the Cadillac Instagram thread that this looks like a rebadge of the Chevrolet Blazer. This is clearly a stop gap measure as the real focus is on the Electric versions of CUVs.

  10. What @dfelt said. I assume DOHC has emissions advantages as everybody has moved to them awhile ago. This is why I'm surprised they didn't use some other engine or have a second optional engine with more torque for the larger vehicle that this is.

  12. Yes we need names. Alphanumeric designations are unnecessary on this one.

  13. Spec wise.. Yes. The Aviator definitely has a better drivetrain line-up.. I mean who can argue with 400hp/400lbs torque or 450hp/600lbs torque? The crazy thing that still boggles my mind is that Cadillac has access to the LF3 from the XTS-VSport, which would beat the Lincoln's first engine.. and the Black Wing, in either tune, to beat the hybrid driveline.

  14. My birth year is entered incorrectly, but the mathematical calculation is correct (2017 = 2 yrs old). Imma gonna change it to....... 39 years old. Yeah; 39. EDIT :: Whee! - the internet says I'm 39. must be true!

  16. My wife has told me, at times, I'm like a 2 yr old, and we don't want to argue with HER, so; yeah- 2.

  17. I suppose. I wanted Cadillac to aim higher like the Aviator. The Aviator is going to play in Land Rover's territory. This will be lucky to compete with MDX.

  18. I wish I were 6'6" at times like this, I could say I cannot fit in it and that would be that. Debuts at the bottom of the class. Who does that?

  19. Closer to a 4 hour trip...but that 3 hour statement was to make a...point....in a jokingly fashion. But there was a point being made... Point being, when traveling, 4-5-6-7 hours by car. Its exactly THAT...4-5-6-7 hours on the road. If you are in a hurry. Travel by airplane. If you dont want the hassles of stopping to pee, or charging up...travel by train... If you take the bloody time to travel by car...4-5-6-7 hours, you invest 4-5-6--7 hours of your life on the road....45 minutes to pee and/or to charge up/fuel up is a NON-ISSUE! You could make up all kinds of deterrents in your head, in reality, there are none! THAT is the point. Where do you need to go and that quickly for 250 miles that a 45 minute piss stop or charge up would be an issue for you? You are already on the road for 4-5-6-7 hours...obviously an extra 45 minutes to piss, or to charge up aint a big deal... You could make into a big deal deterrent, I suppose. But it really aint!

  20. I don't get the hype, it isn't a very good looking car from any angle. It doesn't really look pretty, or fast or even interesting. The interior looks like a poor man's BMW knockoff. And the BMW M340i makes 382 hp and costs the same as this car. So why not just get a 3/4-series with 47 more hp, an actual BMW interior and pay the same money?

  21. Noooooo; the Rivian MARKETING MATERIAL is big into the outdoors. The Rivian truck is big into the garage it was hand built in.

  22. Electricity itself -- unlike high pressure gases -- generally do not make noise. But in order to use electricity to do work and move a vehicle you need to have two things which definitely do. The first is the motor itself. These either use a bunch of offset electrical coils or offset bunch of coil and magnet pairings fed by an an alternating current or a rapidly switching current. When stationary they BUZZ. When in rotation they transition into a whine. The second is the variable frequency drive or the inverter. These... well... always just BUZZ. The lack of significant vibrations is the reason EVs are more refined. A different kind of noise is definitely there, but not the shakes. And, that is a big deal.

  23. The torque curve on the 3.6 is awful compared to the 3800 and 3900. That is the real issue. Why GM insisted on building a V6 based on those four cylinder engines from Germany is still beyond me. HP is nice, but a torque curve as flat as Kansas is what a LOT OF US want.

  27. Not even close. Completely different class of vehicle.

  28. Yea that is the problem with all DOHC engines is the fact that you have to rev them to make that stated torque and go even higher to get it. Too many solid long life pushrod engines that make a ton of torque low without having to be rev'd so hard.

  29. Looks better, more up to date but they're really skimping on the motor here given the other 2.0T options in their stable.

  31. You don't need to be an enthusiast to test drive two vehicles and one has torque and one doesn't.

  32. Absolutely. Better than some other SUV's that look like they flopped out of another bodily orifice.

  33. Looks 15 years newer than any other EV SUV... now just build it LIKE SHOWN.

  34. Nah I was just saying it is not good enough to be what a Cadillac SHOULD be. And I think the Lincoln Aviator is a much nicer vehicle, spec wise and looks wise, because I have nothing else to go on.

  37. Maybe so, but if they drive the Cadillac then drive any other luxury SUV they might not be as impressed with the Cadillac, even if they don't know what is under the hood. I think a bigger problem for Cadillac (aside from brand image) is the interiors.

  38. You could think its unacceptable...I wont argue with you. I aint here to tell you how to think or how to live your life. You could live your life the way you want to. But in reality. It aint a problem...

  39. Nor should they ever ban them. I think the ICE vehicle will stay around as a niche vehicle for a very long time....for the same reason Facebook has not replaced Cheers and Gears. Cheers and Gears is a niche market for older guys who don't get laid enough to argue vehemently about cars they are never ever going to buy. If a free market of ideas can provide that... A free economic market can provide ICE vehicles as niche products in a world of electrics. Not to mention Cold weather cuts into the range of battery electric vehicles...and the resistance of snow would not have helped matters any either...
