  1. Either way, few soccer moms want a diesel-fueled crossover. Usually the biggest buyers are those who need the hauling and towing superiority that comes with a diesel engine. Those are truck buyers, not car/CUV buyers. The typical buyer is the issue, not the fact that the diesel engines did not have the typically sky-high MPGs expected from them.

  2. i wonder if someone will develop one of those rear of cargo box gate type things that extend out the back of the bed when the tailgate is down. People who had explorer sporttracs and chevy avalanches had them a lot of the time. since you can change the tops over the seating area, i wonder if someone will develop a system to put a matching style top over the bed.

  3. I spotted this 2019 Colorado Z71 this morning, in the parking lot at my favorite walking trail. Lo and behold, the keys just happened to be in my pocket. So... I brought it home.

  4. And? The rated MPGs are 28 City/38 Highway. Real world tests will always vary and you missed the point entirely. Riviera covered part of my point pretty well. We will just skip the C&D part of the review where they were critical of its lethargic operation.

  5. It’s gets 28 MPG city which is where most soccer moms use them, making it not so great when you factor in the extra fuels costs of diesel.

  6. Guess all diesels suck from lack of advertising then. Can’t have anything to do with factors like what was mentioned in the article. “But only for $100 more, you could have gotten into the 2.0L turbo-four that offered better performance. Over at the Terrain, the diesel cost around $2,000 more than the 2.0 turbo-four. Diesel fuel is more expensive than its gas counterpart as well.” Diesel here is, on average, 25-30 cents per gallon higher than unleaded gas. It’s not hard to figure out why most folks just aren’t buying them. Going to Chevrolet’s site and selecting the Diesel engine puts it at LT trim which is not limited in options from what I can see.

  7. My God- you can't even put a bicycle in the back of a Gladiator with a front wheel OFF and close the tailgate! Every googleimage pic of a dirt bike or ATV has the tailgate open. 1 more foot and it would be a lot more useful/secure. Or perhaps the concept is not fully baked.

  8. well, back in 2013 when gas was 4 bucks i think this would have gone over more. I drove one for a short drive once, and it felt peppy, but the numbers don't suggest it's fast. It was decently smooth if i remember. Far better option than the 1.5 in the equinox, at least when it's AWD. Knowing GM they probably limit the shit out of your options when you choose the diesel. I'm willing to bet this is the end forever of diesel in GM cars for anything besides pickups from now on.

  9. Agreed, diesel is done. Except maybe in big trucks. Elsewhere the people just don’t want it.

  10. No surprise here. Diesel is on its way out, for better or worse. The primary market for this class of crossovers do not care for diesel anything, so no more diesels. I also suspect that an BEV option would sell better than the diesels that were just canceled.

  11. We have a local truck accessory place, Car-Mic. "Everybody" who buys a new truck goes there immediately after leaving the dealership. I have ordered Husky floor liners from them. Next up is a tri-fold bed cover and Aeroskin hood protector. It does have the factory spray-in liner, which was a yuge consideration. With the Jeep in the garage and my downstairs living room renovation project finally done, seems like some space in the garage was stolen by "stuff". The truck fits, but I need to clean out the garage and haul some stuff to a final resting place, so it fits with more comfort. No Bedrugs or rubber bed mats this time, I got full factory bed protection. The 3.6L with 8 speed auto work together like peanut butter and jelly. Sooooo smooth. Above photo is not good quality. I will post a few more photos soon.

  12. Any other major, radical revisions/upgrades besides the sticker & the shorter antenna? Perhaps one of those air vent air fresheners? Whatcha gonna put in the bed?

  13. I've seen a few Gladiators- would have been better as a 'Wrangler SUV' because the bed is literally pointless.

  15. Yeah...and the height of a minivan is big part of the difference for an adult getting in the third row..I recall getting in the 3rd row of an Uber Burban in SF a few years ago, was awkward even with the size of the Burban...
