  1. The two above posters saying we don't care about the future and we should be in EVs are driving a Grand Cherokee, Escalade, Trailblazer SS, and a 90's Suburban.
  2. We'll when humans will not wake up to the FACT that ICE contributes to the destruction of the planet, then governments are forced to make the change for humanity survival. Nothing is perfect, but change is needed for the survival of the species.
  3. It has to be... which is pretty funny. I logged into my VM in my office in Scottsdale, and it shows 3hr 37min, but when I logged into one of my development servers it shows 00hr 37 min (the servers are all on AST, though the data center is in Miami). (using AST because the company HQ is in Barbados).
  4. At the end of the day dollar speaks. I don't see any members of this forum driving electric vehicle yet. Plus, where we get electricity, especially if the demand will spike with massive increase in EVs is another issue. Another big debate is the materials necessary for current technology batteries, how they are procured and their impact on the environment.
  5. Problem is at least 50% or more of the masses in the US don't care about survival of the species..they only care about their imaginary 'afterlife' and want to hasten the 'end times'....
  6. Awesome T/A. Oh...the Trans Am is nice too. I almost didnt notice it in the back there.
  7. Saw this on Drivetribe. Anyone want to play?
  8. I think it is time for GM to abandon the DOHC V8 and V6 engines while going back to reliable and efficient push-rod designs based on the LT2. Let's call it the 6th Generation Small Block V8 and V6 engines. Universally, they should have these features:- 103.25mm (bore) x 92mm (stroke) Dual Injection (Direct and Port) Synchronous continuous VVT (0~6 or 0~8 cylinders operation) Dynamic Skip Fire Flywheel Integrated Generator-Starter + 102v LiFePO4 electrical system 6200 V8TT (LTA) -- 600 bhp @ 5,300 rpm, 600 lb-ft @ 1,200 rpm, 6,000 rpm rev limit 6200 V8 (LTX) -- 480 bhp @ 6,200 rpm, 470 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm, 6,600 rpm rev limit 4100 V6 (LTS) -- 360 bhp @ 6,200 rpm, 352 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm, 6,600 rpm rev limit An interesting way to handle Start-Stop is that with a powerful enough motor integrated into the flywheel, there is no need to restart the engine on brake release. Instead, 0-600 rpm is always on electric power exclusively unless the battery is below 20% charge. The ICE starts naturally and takes over from there. A 102v LiFePO4 battery with about 0.6 kWh should be enough and it is about the size of two lead acid car batteries so it won't be too inconvenient to place them under the trunk or in the engine bay. A linear motor operating on 102v power can be realistically around to 30hp @ 3,300 rpm and 96 lb-ft @ 0 rpm.
  9. We shall see...them sell seashells by the sea shore. Now I sound like @oldshurst442
  10. Exactly. The software developer fell asleep when writing the code for the page. LOL!
  11. Was time for a change and new one follows new Cadillac design language ya cry baby.
  12. Yes, this is a Superior headlight assembly and they should have stayed with this. Using the same Chevrolet style on the XT-6 and Escalade cheapens it up. Maybe it is Enchanted for Robert, he will see before us.
  13. Yep, PST hour behind AZ or MST right now. Not making up for time zones or @Robert Hall your laptop is failing you! LOL!
  14. Quite similar to the XT6 headlight/grille arrangement. I much prefer this front design:
  15. According to the Cadillac site, it's 2hrs 25 min from right now, so 9pm EST. Which would be 7pm MST. 6:36 pm EST here now. You are losing 2 hrs somewhere ? https://www.cadillac.com/future-vehicles/escalade-suv
  16. The EV1 did not make it because the batteries were terrible. Back then there were lead-acid batteries (for the car) and nickel-metal hydride batteries (for laptops and cellphones). Lithium batteries came later. If we had solid state batteries 30 years ago, the EV1 would have gone a long way into displacing ICE engines. The other problem was that in 1998 oil was $10 a barrel. TEN DOLLARS A BARREL! Gas was very cheap back then and nobody would have cared for a fully BEV at all. IF oil was $150 a barrel or higher and stayed there for at least five years, a lot of customers would be dying for a BEV and pay any price. While I like the BEV as a concept and would like to see us forgo oil forever, BEVs must be cheap enough to displace USED CARS and be better than what we as a public can buy right now. What we need is a $10K BEV version of a Model T (or a Model A).
  17. I heard about the guy who bought the old Walmart store too. Insane collection, lucky man.
  18. To keep it simple, all 2020: UK: Range Rover Velar Japan: Acura NSX France: Alpine A110 (unfortunately not sold in NA) Germany: Mercedes CLS 450 US: Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack wide body in F8 green
  19. Very cool look at the inside of the GM EV1 from the 90's. Use your mouse, click and hold and drag around to see what it was like. Very minimalist like Tesla, but it had push button start, and other electronics was ahead of Tesla, Toyota, etc. Just a shame GM could not see the long game for EVs.
  20. 7500lb towing, what's its payload? I'm not a huge fan of comparisons without the details of each vehicle. They didn't need to choose a 52k F150. With the minute details they chose, you could get an F150 that can tow 7500lbs that can get better than 18mpg for less than 52k. Obviously, they picked and chose criteria that fit their agenda.
  21. Lordstown Motors now being called Voltage Valley has added more info including they are taking reservations for their AWD in wheel hub motor pickup truck with base truck starting at $52,500. $100.00 deposit to pre-order. https://lordstownmotors.com/ This story is interesting, production start Q3 of 2020 at Lordstown facility. https://www.forbes.com/sites/mergermarket/2019/11/25/upstart-lordstown-motors-racing-to-be-first-with-all-electric-pickup-truck/#4e93f9326bd0 They expect to beat everyone to market with the first EV Pickup Truck for sale.
  22. Oh yeah, J-Lo's got it going on...Shakira is pretty easy on the eyes also..
  23. Gotta Love style and CURVES! After 32 years a DeLorean gets it's first breath of air after the cocain infused party. https://www.motorious.com/articles/news/390578/delorean-barn-find Have to say this is a cool barn find. Man buys old Walmart to show off his 225 muscle car collection. Talk about AWESOME! https://www.motorious.com/articles/news/396587/walmart-225-car-collection
  24. Aston Martin DBS V12 RX7 Renault Megane SLS AMG Ford GT If I can't have a lame daily driver I think I'd swap the RX7 for a Land Cruiser.
  25. But it has fins!!! Just kidding, I find it a little gaudy too
  26. Governments may well be forcing the issue. What should automakers do, hope for 1998 to return?
  27. Yeah, those engine "swamps" are kinda like the one in DC that needs to be drained.
  28. Yes, the C8 will have the new "Nervous System" electrical architecture. I've been told one of the reasons for the launch delay towards the end was to implement the new system.
  29. I am kind of stoked... Zeus Bronze is available on the 2021 Trailblazer Activ.
  30. Nice! Gives me hope that our Trax will be a good trip car....
