I think a Duramax ZR2 Bison left almost stock would be ideal. You get range, a bed for holding extra stuffs, and 4 doors(also for extra stuffs), undercarriage protection and the off road capability while maintaining OEM reliability, would be pretty ideal. I think the only thing I'd possibly change would be a slightly larger set of tires and/or a small lift. It just doesn't need anything. I guess you could add a brush guard and winch for added protection.2 points

But that's exactly what I'm advocating to answer this challenge ; put the concepts into production. If a lame-ass Bentley can pull in $200K with their dated styling, an Escala could do the same. Cadillac hasn't hand-built a limited run car in a very long time, but it's certainly not beyond their capabilities. I think the '21 Escalade interior proves they can engineer/design something class-leading and put it into production in modern times.2 points

So since most people are sitting home, everything is cancelled and it looks like the beginning of apocalypse (just kidding) lets play a small game. Post you idea of the end of the world vehicle, what you will use, what will you add to it. Is it Mad Max type truck or a muscle car like in "I am legend".1 point

Yeah yeah... We all know the argument.... Its a tired old argument. Meanwhile in 2021 going forward AT GM At Cadillac CELESTIQ WILL BE HANDBUILT Now...lets stop with the useless back and forth to a vehicle that looks like this still1 point

@smk4565 You contend yourself with this AMG car at the mid 50 000 dollar range... and Ill contend myself with this at 65 000... And Ill be laughing at you thinking you got a better, faster, more luxurious car for the price... PS: I could probably fit more stuff in the Vette too...1 point

THAT should have been the CT6 interior five years ago. Hopefully Cadillac will be wise enough to put this interior into its successors.1 point

Why- because the MBSMayS63Bach is faster around a track than the MBAMGGTS63GTS?? Talk about a stupid metric.1 point

Im kinda had it with this nonsense back and forth!!!1 point

We are all smack talking Cadillac for not being able to sell us a high end 200 000 dollar car.... Bean counter arguments and tooo long ago history that Cadillac builders somehow forgot how to stitch a phoquing seam on leather....to whale penis blubber arguments that seem to be on other "luxury" vehicles... https://www.wired.com/2009/11/dartz/ Yet we forget that the Celestiq WILL be handbuilt... We could say that GM beancounters ALWAYS hamstring stuff...yet...the CELESTIQ WILL BE HANDBUILT.... You'd think that the beancounters will allow the necessary funds to allow this to happen the way it should, right? I mean...ITS GONNA BE HANDBUILT... Its GONNA BE A BOUTIQUE vehicle, non? Aint Bentley, Rolls, Ferrari and the like BOUTIQUE manufacturers??? Well...the Celestiq WILL be the same. This will NOT be mass produced. It will be on order to SPECIFIC...PERSONALIZED interiors... THIS is going back to how Cadillac, Duesenberg, Lincolns and ALL luxury cars were made...including the body. An owner chose the coach builder then... Anyway... There is a lot of shyte talking on a car that is not even out yet. Please, if we are gonna shyte on the Celestiq, at least wait until it actually comes out for sale. Then we can shyte on it. But I know one thing... Looking at the Corvette C8....for the BILLIONTH time... At what the engineers ACCOMPLISHED with THAT platform...at that PHOQUING PRICE POINT!!! ITS SAFE TO SAY THAT: 1. GM ENGINEERS BRING IT!!! 2. BEANCOUNTERS DONT EXERCISE THEIR FULL MIGHT ON THE PRODUCTS ANYMORE, RIGHT???!!! 3. ITS A CADILLAC. THAT MEANS GOING FORWARD...IT GOING TO BE A CADILLAC. LOOK AT THE 2021 ESCALADE'S INTERIOR PS: These are not 200 000 dollar Mercedes cars... Funny...nobody bats an eye lid for this shyte that Mercedes is peddling...RIGHT NOW...in the USofA. Cadillac is going UPSCALE and we find problems. Mercedes is continuing to go DOWNSCALE...yet we are fine with that... Something is wrong with our thinking!!! Why arent we bitching at Mercedes beancounting ways??? The CLA has a shyte reliabilty problem. The interior is cheap cheap cheap... THIS is a car that was released but a few years ago... For the second time...at least...in the new millennium....Mercedes Benz has SHYTE on their image. Anybody remember THIS Cimarron equivalent? I DO!!! Funny though....Mercedes GETS A PASS???!!! I DONT THINK SO!!! There is NO justification for Mercedes. THESE ARE WORSE THAN WHAT CADILLAC HAS EVER DONE!!! CIMARRON INCLUDED!!!1 point

I like the front, except for maybe where the front lamps merge into the grille. That rear pillar looks sort of thick. I'd prefer slightly higher displacement and no turbocharger.1 point

No- it's real all right. Just; not in production. But it certainly could be. Hence; Cadillac can compete in this price tier by putting their concept-caliber cars into production.1 point

Those are two very different sized vehicles, aren't they? I thought the XT4 was tiny and the Envision was just below the 3-rower in the Enclave? Are they moving it down closer in size to the Encore? It looks sharp but kind of weird they're using the same name for what seems like a pretty big change in size. Well, FWIW, they're closer than I thought.1 point

MB started importing by '56-57. They partnered with Studebaker and used their dealerships for years and even advertised with the company. It was a long tough road, putting their cars in with Studebaker and instantly making them look 10 years older. When a mercedes S and a Studebaker Lark were on equal tiers... But the Seville was an upmarket move, not down. Or if not up, at least a lateral.1 point

I doubt Mercedes Benz was exporting any cars to the USA prior to the 1960s, so their best cars were all stuck in Germany. It is not MB's fault Cadillac went downmarket with the original 1976 Seville, then came all of Cadillac's errors and MB/BMW took advantage in the 1980s.1 point

The A-class has nothing to do with the S-class. The S-class has been the best car in the world for decades, it justifies it's price. And S-class Maybach sales were up 10% last year. Cadillac is going into space they never went before, without any track record of winning in the lower segments.1 point

@trinacriabob @Robert Hall While in college in Japan, they had Triple Jolt Cola and Triple Dew Mountain Dew. Drank both like crazy till I realized Mountain Dew was so bad for you due to the ingredients I researched for a paper I wrote. Stopped cold turkey on the stuff. Gave up Triple Jolt Cola too once I realized how acidic it was and a sugar bomb that could cause Diabetes. Since then most drink water, some chai tea, black tea and then stevia sweetened Pre-work out drinks. This is one of the best break downs on why not to drink Mountain Dew. https://juicing-for-health.com/mountain-dew-bad1 point

I can’t touch Mountain Dew either. Drank way too much of it in grad school and my first couple jobs. Haven’t had one in close to 20 years probably.1 point

I did stock up on dog treats and dog food from Amazon..that came today. And jerky, snacks, etc. I've been pretty much quarantined since the beginning of February, so nothing new. Got plenty of TP, paper towels, cleaning supplies. Just ordered some Omaha Steaks and fixins from Amazon, going to do some grilling..1 point

We can always rely on our resident Greek-Canadian member to say what he has to say with passion and conviction. Keep up that zesty Mediterranean candor. And I mean that in a nice way. I'm not in on the conversation you two are having but, like so many other teenagers, I had a brief stint in fast food during high school. In the U.S., I have seen a steady decline in the quality of service. If we didn't treat customers right, we got in big trouble. I remember that my paper application had a spot on it for G.P.A. And that the hiring manager put a check next to it. I look back at this and laugh because, today, it seems you just need a pulse. Nowadays, a lot of the kids at these chain fast food places look like they don't want to be there. Some don't want to explain anything to you, don't look at you, and are incapable of saying thank you. There are exceptions. Generally speaking, I see that suburban and rural fast food locations, like ones along the interstates, have better mannered young employees. If you go into a Subway and it's a busy one, those people have to hustle during their busy times. That would explain the huge turnover. If they do their work correctly and are nice to their customers, you have to give them credit for that.1 point

It is a concept car, but it isn't even all that nice. Then you have issues of powertrain, which they could put 1000 electric horsepower and a big battery and solve that, but you still have to have a road pre-scan suspension that they don't have, you need level 3 autonomy which they don't have now. That is a lot to come up with in a fews years for a low volume product.-2 points
