@surreal1272 That is a a great post, who knew that the Bolt had more interior room than the Equinox and I love the Adrian Steel cage package that protects the front folks. Great service auto for companies. Considering how much aluminum and carbon fiber is in planes, I figure auto's can easily handle it too.2 points

I saw an article saying that there is actually a shortage of pickup trucks. Stop in production due to pandemic and low gas prices I think will prevent really big discounts on trucks. Cars though will be a different story.2 points

Now we're on the same page. I think the 'build' number plays loose with the defining terms to pump up the number. 3.0L is uncommon. But if I could get it basically 'free', I would.1 point

I sat in a '19 Silverado- the seats were a bit on the hard side but not terrible. The issue becomes -with as high as these trucks are- that the softer/deeper the front seat is, the faster the exit-side bolster wears out/thru. I don't want to sink 6 inches into a seat and they have to scooch & scooch to get in/out, or to adjust my position while driving. Then again- I actually use a truck to work out of/with, not cruise 4 states away with a power boat on the hitch. Supple squishy leather is not going to last vs. cheaper, more durable materials.1 point

I just search zip code 98115 (seattle) in a 50 mile radius and a CC/SB with the 3.0L shows 28 exact matches. This is thru the chevrolet.com vehicle locator.1 point

Maybe if they restyle the Bolt to be more squared off w/ a Silverado-like nose it will do better. Or Camaro-like styling.1 point

Easy, those are the common cord used for DVD/Blue ray players. I have them on multiple home electronics in both the living room and family room. Ya need to Rip those babies and put them on a NAS for the house with Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity and then have a Bose Wifi/Bluetooth speaker out there. Then ya get some really sweet sounds.1 point

I have to wonder if aside from the stying and powertrain the next gen is going to be any good or filled with a bunch of annoyances like the lousy front seats and $14k 2012 econo car plastics. The Silverado has similar issues with the interior bits and front seats, just lagging behind the competition.1 point

Part of the issue though (really true with GM trucks) is that they built quite a few high end models first- not the usual varieties that they normally build. My local dealerships usually offer more “base” trucks toward the end of the model year, as many local cities/businesses replace them around then. So I wonder who many folks plan on getting 50k + trucks..... I’m more of a base truck person myself.....1 point

They don’t build planes to absorb impacts with other planes tho.1 point

You keep using that ONE example when every other example from GM and Chevrolet say otherwise. From the GM fleet order guide and the Bolt... Now, why make the comparison the way they did? It's easy, because it is and never was marketed as an SUV or CUV. And again, I did time at a Chevy dealership and NOT once would find anything resembling and SUV or CUV in its marketing materials nor did any salesman push it as such, especially when its own window sticker says "5 DR WAGON". Stop splitting hairs over this and using one obvious error of an example to support this notion that the Bolt was sold as something it clearly wasn't.1 point

In watching the video, it would appear that you have a series of bolts that come off and the unit can be removed. So a rear end accident that would probably break the honey comb area over the wheels and then they unbolt the old back under carriage piece and replace it, replace the rear body parts and reassemble it would seem to me. Thinking on this, just as they have the honey comb impact absorbing points on the front of an auto. This appears to be the same type of thing in the back that would allow safety for the occupants of the auto by having this undercarriage piece take the brunt of the hit.1 point

And I thought the Korean twins were going to have issues... Nissan had quite a bit coming....going to be fire sales on sedans coming soon.....1 point

Cool Read for those interested in how Tesla is improving quality of the Tesla Y over the Tesla 3. They replaced 70 core underbody parts with 1 underbody casting part. The Tesla 3 is the base on which the Tesla Y is built and with that they have a new patent and a new stamping/casting machine. For now the Tesla Y will have the superior core underbody system compared to the Tesla 3, yet Musk has stated that all their auto's will move to this kind of system. One observation is the ease of which it will allow an auto that is rearended to have a solid replacement underbody part put on and no stretched/straightend underbody parts in the rear. Very cool. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/in-model-y-tesla-replaces-70-underbody-parts-with-one-casting/1 point

Seems if you are in the market for a new auto, you might just get a hell of a deal this year due to the pandemic. Seems a Nissan boat with 2,000 Nissan's and Infiniti's floated off the coast of LA due to the overload of new auto's sitting at the docks and no dealer or fleet company is taking delivery of any auto's even if they were already purchased. https://www.thedrive.com/news/33290/why-a-cargo-ship-full-of-2000-nissans-floated-offshore-for-days News seems to indicate that every auto company is going to be giving steep discounts to get folks to buy.1 point

The Bolt was not an SUV. The Equinox is; the Tahoe even more so. Unfortunately, nobody buys hatchbacks anymore. They buy CUVs and SUVs now.1 point

I love small pick ups, right there with you bud. Post WW 2 outside of Spandau prison, where war criminals were kept after WW 2. Torn down after Rudolf Hess died in 1987. Neat old Mercury in back ground... Love the Iron work! And tons of Jumbos, including A380s going down as a result of current crisis.1 point

Yes I COULD have used national averages, but since the individual uses his local are info, I choose to use my local info. I could if I wanted faster charger add those electrical upgrades to the home. Yet everyone has 110 charging which has been proven to be sufficient for overnight charging having a full battery in the morning. Hence no added cost. On top of this while I know in your area they do not require this, but for almost 15 years now, Washington state has made it a requirement for a 220V 30amp outlet in garages for all forms of electrical needs from auto charging to Wire feed arc welding. So here it is common to already have the outlet in the garage. At most your looking at $250 to $500 depending on the fancy level of your 220 charger you want to buy and plug in for use. Also forgot to mention that Ocnblu brought up the maintenance issue and I think it is well covered above that EVs have much less maintenance than ICE auto's.1 point

No oil changes ever, no major maintenance every 100,000 miles let alone the still tagged mid 45 to 50K maintenance auto's still list. Leaf and Bolt give far more than 50 miles in 30 min when on a fast charger and the tech is constantly improving. Chevrolet lists for the 2020 and earlier models 90 miles in 30 min. But the 2021 as a 2022 model on the new bev platform is stated to be considerable faster, more inline with gassing up an ICE auto. So all things change and improve just as ICE did over the last 100 plus years. 2020 Nissan Leaf gives 80% battery capacity in 40 min for a Quick charge connection. Yet, plug in at night at home and always have a full battery in the morning. EV's DO NOT need tires more often than an ICE auto. You sound like SMK about his MB love affair. I get it you love ICE auto's, nothing wrong with that, but the future is changing so get used to it. Chevrolet Bolt Maintenance Schedule: Here is the excellent Chevrolet VOLT Maintenance Schedule: Equal in Size, Chevrolet Trax Maintenance Schedule: So let's try again about which auto is more expensive to maintain between EV and ICE.1 point
