  1. They did contact me for permission to use the name, tho.

  2. I agree to that sentiment above 100%, about the interior and dashboard and all that. However, for me, the exterior is what counts more. I know when you are driving the vehicle, its the interior that you get to experience the most all those years with the car, but, when you are walking up to the car, its the exterior you are getting to see. That love at first sight feeling. The, I cant wait to drive the shyte out of you feeling... When you are washing the vehicle, its the exterior you are caressing and rubbing and soaping up and feeling the contours of... In other words, for me at least, she's got to look good on the outside. Beauty for a car, unlike for a human, beauty being skin deep is a good thing for me. And what I seek for when Im cruising for a new ride. Yes...a car's exterior has got to invoke that passion. I could live with a cup holder/button/gear selector/RPM gauge not being in the "optimal" position. I could learn to cope with it, to adjust. But if the vehicle Im spending my hard earned money is not exactly to my liking on the outside, then I aint buying it. The next criteria for me would be on its driving characteristics. Looks and driving characteristics easily 1 and 2. And they are both interchangeable. And third would be interior and interior ergonomics.

  3. I do wonder what Stellantis/PSAFCA has in mind for their US CUV strategy. Jeep is the established volume and off road CUV/SUV brand and continues to expand, Dodge is in there w/ the Durango, Alfa and Maserati dabble in performance/luxury SUVs, so where do PSA brands come into play? Some more car-like softroader CUVs? With a brand that is largely unknown in the US (Peugeot or Citroen) ?

  5. Yes- there is some pitting. Most is very minor... some are larger. Overall it's not bad, and many would shine it as best they could & live with it. But you couldn't polish them all out. Nervous about polishing so much that details/edges are altered. I do have a spare one tho. I wanted to have ONE nice material thing in my life... plus they say money is germy.

  6. I like the larger V90...I think I'd be very happy with one of these and living in New England. Love the blue.

  7. I would initially think that ocnblu in his line of work, would have a decent line on it, except for the teeny fact that body shops never rechrome anything. Ever. If they could order pre-painted body panels, (Fiero days?), they wouldn't even paint anything. Robert is actually the closest; quote was $625. Half-heartedly, I'm looking at 'chrome alternatives', but my preference is the real thing. The majority of trim is stainless, but there's other pieces to do, also. Namely: bumpers. Sigh.

  8. Spotted August 26 on yet another trip through Arby's drive through, this time to get a Reuben sandwich: Looks ominous - don't know what it is, what year it is, or what engine it might have had A true "getaway car" - it got away from fitting snugly inside my photo

  9. Well, the good news is that we still get to smell gas and oil for a while. ? I was talking to a buddy of mine whose wife works deep in GM, and they had some thoughts and suggestions to bring Pontiac back with Hummer as an EV only brand. ( I am guessing the thought is so that Buick would be China only) The only reason I could see that would be to bring some EVs with some personality and style, and still look like a regular car........ Not sure how I would feel if they brought the name back like that.......

  10. The random thing I was really going to say: as I was driving to the dealership today for a routine maintenance item, I thought about DASHBOARDS. Given how much I disliked the dash in that Toyota Rav 4 I was given as a rental recently, I wouldn't own one. I almost think that, if you don't "connect" with the dashboard and the car's interior, you should NOT buy that car. You will be in that cabin for years ... and years (if you're like me).

  11. Today saw the Lexus UX 200 F-Sport being swapped for this 2020 Volvo S60 T5 Momentum. This base model comes very well equipped with a LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, 10-way power seats12.3-inch display for the instrument cluster, and a 9-inch infotainment system. But this particular vehicle is loaded with over $9,000 in options including metallic paint, 19-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, Harman/Kardon audio system, and power trunk lid. This brings the price to $46,240 with destination - base being $36,050. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder with 250 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. I'll be updating this piece later in the day with some first drive impressions and I only briefly drove it around my work's parking lot to grab some pictures. In the meantime, start dropping off your questions. UPDATE: As promised (albeit slightly late), some more first impressions of the S60. The T5 engine is a surprisingly punchy engine, providing rapid power when driving on the freeway or exiting a turn. But the downside is noticeable turbo lag when leaving a stop - something I noted in my XC40 review. Volvo Sensus and my iPhone 7 Plus aren't seeming getting along at the moment. When I first plugged my phone in, the system recognized it and brought up the button to launch Apple CarPlay. But I couldn't bring up the CarPlay interface as the button did nothing. I had to unplug and plug the phone back in before it worked. One more issue concerning CarPlay. Some apps only bring up a blank screen when first opened. I would close them and relaunch to bring them to back to regular status. I can't explain whether this is due to me still running an older version of the OS or something with the car. To answer @regfootball comment on the space, this feels slightly larger than the outgoing S60. In the back, I have slightly more legroom than the previous models I have driven. Headroom is still tight, partly due to the optional panoramic sunroof. Volvo still hasn't solved getting in and out of the back as it still feels like a tight squeeze, even though the rear doors do have a wider opening. View full article

  12. Yep, that's my next truck, Sierra AT4 in Satin Steel Met. Gray, 6.2L, 10AT, Carbon, M-Pro. I like the monochromatic look of the black chrome grille or like my current '18 K2XX Silvy Z71 Crew with the body color grille, bumpers, door handles and mirror caps. I'll pass on all the chrome, it was "cool" in HS, not now and I'm just fine with black leather interior, thank you I've had Cashmere leather interior (Cadillac's cream color) and medium gray they just get old, I get sick of looking at the tan or cream colors for sure. Dark gray interior I'm good with as well.

  13. Agreed....when I'm considering a new car, I try to spend time studying the interior and esp. the ergonomics and sightlines...really the interior is more important to me than exterior styling, since the interior is where you are...for years. Part of why I so strongly dislike gray or all black interiors, I want some color and light inside. Things like seat adjustability and feel of the steering wheel, location of the primary controls, etc..all of that is important to me..

  14. Finished the latest seasons of ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Endeavour’ (the Inspector Morse prequel. Currently streaming the 1st season of ‘Balthazar’, which is not set in New Jersey. It’s a French crime drama set in Paris, and the titular coroner drives a sweet blue vintage Alpine A110...

  15. I like some things about it while others not so much. The roof line is traditional and safe ... if that's what you want. The rear tail lamp arrangement is attractive enough ... it has enough going on. As for the dash, I don't like the little knobs on the air conditioning vents. They remind me of something American, sort of ungainly, and from decades ago. I will have to hand it to Volvo for one thing. It was once upon a time America's hippie car. THIS was the car you drove off to UC Santa Cruz or Smith College in ... and put lots of counterculture stickers on. Thankfully, Volvo has passed that baton to Subaru (which is probably now quietly trying to shed that image with larger and more up-line cars). Said another way, "You've come a long way, baby."

  16. Yeah there isn't much quality chrome on vehicles these days, let alone metal, period. Even truck step bumpers consist of painted reinforcements with chrome trim pieces bolted to the reinforcement. Interior metals? Forget about it. Is that a Continental, around '66-'68? Sry for the facetious answer on the chroming, I knew it would be much more than what I quoted. So, I mean, is the potmetal pitted? It usually develops pits, I was wondering what could be done with a good polishing.

  17. $479.38. Instead of rechroming, how about plasti dipping all the interior brightwork in matte black?

  18. I thought that also...but the taillights threw me, only looked at pics of '39-41 Olds..but going back a year further, I see those taillights on the '38 Olds. '37 had them also.

  24. I sort of think this redesign takes a step back from the previous version. It's sort of chunky and not particularly rakish. That said, it's ok and not offiensive. It doesn't appear to be a space efficient shape.
