His Jeep has been remarkably good to him. 96k miles and just general wear and tear items plus one water pump which I taught him how to replace a couple weeks ago.

I run steels on my Toronado because that's what it came with of course. There were optional alloy wheels available but they're made of unobtainium.. there is a rumor that the few that were sold were recalled by GM and destroyed due to wheel failures. If any actually still exist I would love to own a set just for the obscurity of them. I was actually looking at some retro steel wheels for my Avalanche to run snow tires with this morning after we were chatting about the Defender. These with some Blizzacks on 17s on my 'Lanche? Could be fun.

Coal is only 23% of electrical energy sources. Renewable is about 17%. If renewables completely replace coal (which will take years if not decades) it is still will be only 40%. The rest is natural gas and nuclear. @David do you have any estimate of the electric energy capacity required to replace all cars with EVs?

I REALLY like those wheels on that. My best friend has a Jeep Liberty and loves it. He's not really sure what he wants to go to next and he's kinda defaulting to a Wrangler, but I've been raising the idea of a Defender to him for a few years from now when they've worked the bugs out.

Yes, 8 speed. They have changed very little since then. Cosmetic changes to the front, the 3.6 got vvt and stop/start in ‘16 IIRC. The main features I’d want from a newer one would be Apple Car Play and a couple features from the higher trims like the pano roof (I have the regular sunroof which is fine) and the heated/cooled seats (I have heated seats). I really can’t complain about anything w/ mine...it’s comfortable around town, on short road trips and cross country road trips...

As a gag, looked at the Rivian R1T configurator. This 'new normal' where everything beyond 2 colors is $1500 extra is REE-DICK-U-LUSS. [Emphasis on 'dick']. So there's like almost no options, but as I abhor extremely light colors, I had to click on a $1500 surcharge to get a non-light color. $69 grand for a truck with a Gladiator-size bed, and a useless 'cargo tunnel' I can't think of a use for. Rivian is officially out for me.

With time, Pickup buyers are a traditional lot. I almost see companies like Rivian and Lordstown and the like winning over luxury buyers whoa re looking for something new and different. Wife's boss and her partner just got a new full size domestic truck, crew cab. Donna, Amy's partner is turning her BMW SUV in at the end of the lease in a few weeks. They absolutely love the truck. The ladies love Kyaking and being outdoors, and the truck is infinitely more practical. They also both have dogs, so the additional room is really welcome. Plus, the Pickup rides and drives better than the BMW. So its a win all around. People like that will be the frotnline buyers for electrics. Also, Businesses. When an extermination business needs midsize trucks to go on rounds killing ants and termites, electrics might well be cheaper, mroe reliable and elss maintenance. I think that will be the second step. Third step will be people in Urban environments like NYC or Paris which will have more draconian pollution laws which will be ahrder and ahrder for ICE vehicles to meet. Guys like Balthazar are not going to be the front line buyers of these trucks. I go up and down steps dozens of times a day and do fine. I just no nlonger want to haul around 4 inch electrical conduit and sling it in over my head on an install. Enough hurts on me that I know I am very alive... See above, I am not sure you are going to be the front line target buyer of this. And dammit, I still want a full size diesel truck. I think RAM with a cummins would be awesome, but I would trust a GM truck more in terms of electrical issues and general build quality.

Would be nice to see GM get back to development times they used to do.

After a life time of power lifting and body building, I stick to what Arnold Schwarzenegger always said, pain tells ya your alive and as long as it is tolerable, you know your not 6ft under. I figure, life is pain, pain is life, as long as I have loved ones around, a job I enjoy and can ski, life is good for me. Back on topic of the new ZETA group, I suspect FORD F-150 EV will destroy the other truck sales as FORD is planning to offer all the same bed and cab configurations. At that point with more Torque and hauling than an ICE, more traditional truck buyers will move over to the EV. I also see this happening with GM and their Chevrolet Silverado EV truck line.

So configure up what you like and show us PLEASE!

I think I'd probably really enjoy a 2dr Bronco. If I could get one in brown w/ a tan interior that would be ideal.

Yeah, i knew the "Real" Bronco came with them as well. i mostly thought it was a fun fact the Sport's came with aluminum "steelies".

I prefer choice, myself. The two door version of this is what I would like as a driveway mate of my Ranger. I love that light grey.

My body veto'd the idea of contin uing to work at the same pace, I am 55, that ahppened to me about 47. Took a job at a Unviersity facilties departemtn, pays the bills, much less physical stress. Nothing wrong with that. Low mile used, if he could cut his fuel cost down, methinks he might well consider it in a few years. Rivian is a full on Truck. Thinking seriously if CPO is cheap enough in a few years, would love to own one.

Regular Bronco has some also, I like these..seems they come in black on the Black Diamond trim.

Ford offers them as well on the Bronco Sport. I believe they're actually aluminum though.

Did you NOT see the screen capture of the EV "Silveraydo" from Barra's comedy vid? The headlight setup is nearly the same as the current HD... you're looking at the parking lamps up top, the headlights will be down below...

It's not the Jeep we worry about. Rather, it's the Land Rover. I was getting ready to try it at break. I think you need a really base model.

I gotcha, but personally I don't see me ever buying an EV truck, too much would have to align for that to happen (on the product side).
