  1. Beautiful song that was very smoothly rendered. The sad part is that the lyrics are more applicable, and still unaddressed today, than they were when the song was released.

  4. Reading on a GMC page where an owner of a 2015 model/70K miles is angry his truck's paint is starting to bubble over the front bumper, and 'this is why people leave GM'. Took 1 second to find this toyoter owner complaining about the paint peeling off the door bottom of his 2018 tundra.... in 2019 (with 13K miles) - just peeling off in one sheet :

  5. Another Sunday drive. Out in Ashtabula County again, saw two more covered bridges…cooler, wetter weather but scenic. Not much fall color. Crossed the Pymatuning Reservoir into Pennsylvania and went to Conneaut Lake. Nice roads, great scenery. Saw a CJRD dealer in the middle of nowhere with probably a dozen new Jeep GC Ls on the lot. Saw a red and white ‘64 Dodge Custom 880 2dr on a small town used car lot.

  6. As I bid farewell to my '04 Silverado, I reflect on some of the vast interface changes between it & the '21 Sierra. • I thought I'd dislike, or at least find useless; the A-Pillar grab handles. Nope- I love them. • On the other hand I haven't made much if any use of the rear bumper corner steps. • The backup camera / image is pretty good/clear, has the 'angling lines' on screen, but I still back up using side mirrors. The camera I use basically the last bit of backing into a spot. • Inside storage is a significant improvement. • The keyless entry thing (which the wife's '16 Malibu has); you sure get used to in a hurry. ? • Went for a local ride today, wife's comment was 'I love how much room there is in this!' About 3450 miles, 400-mile average is hovering around 22.7 on the dash.

  7. DRIVEN: 2017 Cadillac CT6 Luxury 2.0E Plug in hybrid RWD (Used vehicle review) HIGHS: Always love driving the CT6, it's a nice size for me, nice ride height, car rides and handles lighter than it is. My other CT6 that I have reviewed you will see I really think its a great package. Quiet interior, once again. So quiet, that I couldn't discern electric operation vs gas, most of the time. Both modes very quiet. Comfortable seats as I have noted before. Some minor bolstering but wider and well padded cushion. Not many cars have this anymore! I have always liked how well layout the gauge cluster is on the CT6, it seems like it crowds the driver, but it is right in your face in a good way. ----repeat comments from before apply----- How does such a big car with such a long wheelbase feel like a mid size car? It doesn't feel heavy and ponderous in any way (it's a light car, actually). And it's fairly nimble, turns tightly. Outward visibility, you see a short hood, and looking out the rear view mirror, the car seems shorter than it is as well. Ride was just the sweet spot balance of cushy and firm for most driving. The steering had nice heft, but not too much. Steering quickness about right for most of the time also. I'd have no problem with a quicker rack in a sport model, but otherwise this was great. ----------------------------------------------- Electric powertrain had some delay and lagging at times but honestly for the duration of the drive it was little and didn't bother me. Maybe on a longer trip it would, although for highway driving in theory its not transitioning between gas and electric like it does in town. I think once you own the car, and learn its driving style, you will know how to work the throttle and drive it so the transitioning is less of an impact. There are a lot of ICE only drivetrains that have transmissions that react similarly slowly but more often. Apart from that, great torque and power. It really is a nice powertrain! Most of the drive was in electric mode but it was a nice; felt like it had turbo thrust without the turbo lag at times. Speed in electric mode built quickly when the drivetrain was not laggy. Would be a great road car, just like the other CT6's. LOWS: Since the battery takes up half the trunk, it makes the trunk fairly useless, and pretty much a deal breaker if this is your main car. The other deal breaker is RWD only; but if you consider California (this car's origin) was the primary market for this, I can a little bit understand not having it set up for AWD. But for me in the north, I would need AWD. GM interiors can look nice in places and cheap in others. Even though most of the CT6 interiors are good overall, at times the dash trim looks not like a luxury brand. Can we project the reliability and the battery life? And for 2017 the plug in range may have been good......... but for today its not great. The plug in hybrids were made in China. I don't think anything seemed different vs a US made car, but some may not like the location of build. SUMMARY: Someday I believe I will own a CT6....question is what year, trim,....and powertrain? After driving this, I could say the powertrain apart from some laggy behavior at times, is wholly good and fine for this car. It was smooth like the 3.6 but with more gusto. Quieter and more Cadillac like character than the 3.0t....that motor is a great motor but is more racy. I would wait over time to find a good 2019+ CT6 with the 10 speed transmission (and of course with AWD). But as for this hybrid, it is not out of place being in the CT6 engine family. And, it has the unicorn factor. Rare....unique. So I totally could enjoy and live with this version of CT6, it's great like the others. Just the trunk and RWD only are deal breakers for me if its as my primary vehicle. Now on to find a couple CT6 RWD only with the 2.0 motors, hard to believe there were more CT6 with 2.0 turbos than v8 engines. I sure hope someday to find an 8 cylinder CT6 to drive...

  8. Largely my assessment as well. I would own one along side my Avalanche and commute in it on all but snowy days.

  10. ^^^ And column shift... Since on fossil fueled engines AND on EVs the shifter is a drive by wire affair anyway, there is absoluuutely no need to clog up a center console with a knob to put a car into gear. On the dash or a lever on the steering column like the good 'ole days would free up soooooo much space in that area where hips tend to be. And if bench seats DO make a come back, sexy time in the car up front would be soooooo much more comfortable than it is now. Yeah...just like the good 'ole days. Maybe songs (rock-n-roll hopefully) about cars and makin' out in them could also make a come back because of this little switch. And good 'ole love songs and rock ballads could make a return as a result of all that lovin' and soon enough, milkshakes at the drive-in burger joint with waitresses on rollerblades serving you at your car could also return. But alas...I wasnt born when all that magic happened when it did happen and if it ever came back, Ill be too damn old to enjoy it. Bah humbug!

  11. LOL I edited the post into that pic because of a joke that was gonna fall flat. The joke was not good. So I panicked as for my edit time would not expire so NOBODY could read it so I google 'Silverado EV' and on the image side of things was that pic. So I posted it real quick. I did not get a chance to see what source it came from. I think...it was GM Authority website.

  12. How about this, since you want to wax semantics over it? More often than not, most Harley riders, I’ve come across, are exactly how I described them. Of course there are exceptions but I never said “all” in the first place so I really don’t need to qualify my statement any further if you’re going to put words into my mouth. Loud pipes are, again, chest puffing accessories.

  13. You are correct about the volt powertrain. The CT6 PHEV used some Bolt components but not the entire powertrain. The transmission was a significantly redesigned concept derived from the 2-Mode hybrid found in the Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe hybrid. It was effectively a 4 mode version and drove like a weird combo of an 8-speed auto and a CVT. And the engine would come on and off as needed, sometimes in a way completely unrelated to the actions of the car. It took some getting used to to drive. It was capable of full EV driving but unlike the Volt, the 2.0T could help out when call on. They weren’t the fastest cars out there and their engine characteristics were weird, but they could scoot pretty good when you wanted them to… plus tons of low end torque. The Volt (and rebadged Ampera) and ELR were entirely electric propulsion. There was some controversy at launch because at speeds above 80mph the volt transmission would lock to the generator/motor because their rpm was about the same and they gained some efficiency from it. Jalopnik made a huge stink about it saying the Volt was just a hybrid and not an EV because of this. no, the Fisker Karma just used the GM 4-cylinder. The rest of the setup was all Fisker.

  14. Yes with the VOLT, the ICE was only a generator is my understanding also. Should have had the power train put into an Equinox size auto. I totally agree with you that the CT-6 PHEV was a big mistake to make and kill off as it was originally for the Chinese market, but everything I have searched on it now seems to show a very positive attitude about the auto. Seems the ct6 lives on in China, PHEV died in 2020! Now they just show the coming Lyriq EV. The Cadillac CT6 Lives On In China And Has Been Updated With Super Cruise | Carscoops GM Won’t Import Cadillac CT6 From China | GM Authority cadillac china website Why is it so hard to understand that the Borla exhaust on the SS is OEM as the SS is a Corvette with a SUV body. As such, the Borla exhaust is the same as found on the Corvette. I am more than willing to have a discussion on it, not a problem stepping out of the bubble. I have gone down the discussion path here before with those that think open pipes is a safety feature for motorcycles and there is not enough research to prove it does or does not help. There is plenty of research that shows the open pipes noise level is way above what is science proven to damage ones hearing, so I go with that.

  15. I see you're more willing to stay in your own bubble than have a discussion. Trailblazer SS's do not come with Borla exhaust from the factory, at least I'm not finding this anywhere on the internet. AAAAAAAAnd, if your SS actually has Borla exhaust on it, it is certainly exceeding OEM/legal noise requirements, which you're advocating for maintaining.

  16. IIRC, the original Fisker Karma also used the Volt power train. As did the ELR and Opel Ampera (which was a Volt rebadge, sort of).

  17. This is the first moment of my learning the Volt powertrain was in something else, another GM mistake to kill-off after like 3 years. Come to think of it though, wasn't the Volt's ICE just used as a generator and not actually used to motivate the vehicle? Buuuut, I know I didn't specify but a in a vehicle that isn't 76k, is more what I was thinking hahaha.

  18. No aftermarket exhaust, the one on there is what came with the SS from the Factory top be clear and I stand by my observation that the noise of open pipes on motorcycles has not saved lives, but probably caused accidents by startled drivers, pedestrians and bike riders alike. There is a reason for sound decibel laws and the science that has proven how loud can damage your hearing. I find nothing to change that on folks that ignore the science and go with a ear drum damaging open pipe. We agree to disagree.

  19. Like @Robert Hall said, they were in reorganization under the eye of the Italian government, burning through a lot of cash, and didn't meet the criteria to stay solvent. I believe the new entity tried to acquire the name, branding, and all that. They wanted too much for it. Yes, it saddens me because they were my first choice for any transatlantic trip. I grew up with this brand. I had pizza with a friend (coincidence) yesterday and he said the same thing for him and his family. All the things I like are going away - good music, first coupes and now sedans, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, 747s ... where does it stop? The one company that did make a go of an initialed name is T.A.P. - Transportes Aereos Portugueses - and it's known as TAP Air Portugal, or just TAP, to customers. I flew the outbound with TAP and the return with Alitalia. Let's see how this big change goes. They were migrating to this livery on their wide bodies, which I'm not sure I liked. A lot of carriers, such as Air France, got rid of striping along the fuselage. This was on a B-777 parked in Rome. They had also used this livery, with the stripe not going all the way to the nose, as it is shown here on a mock up of the B-747-400s they had intended to purchase ... until 9/11 came along, which caused them to retire all their 747s within the subsequent year.

  20. I'm also not trying to say "all bikes should have extra loud exhaust.", just to clarify. I'm just saying, that louder pipes likely have saved lives at some point, be it the rider, a driver/passenger in a 4-wheeled vehicle or an individual (think child) from running into the street without looking. But to say bikes with loud exhaust are "destroying the peace" and "Ear Piercing noise that destroys any tranquil attempt to live life." while having a V8 with aftermarket exhaust of your own is quite the hypocritical statement. Inner city, EVERY aftermarket exhaust resonates off buildings. I know, I work downtown STL and hear vehicles drive past daily and I'm 6 floors up.

Full 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Preliminary Specifications can be found here: Chevrolet Introduces Redesigned 2022 Silverado with Major Enhancements It is a very general observation that I agree with that it might be a small sample and yet I hear this all the time from people all over and especially in the inner city you hear the roar of the Harley Bikes over everything else. Ear Piercing noise that destroys any tranquil attempt to live life. My own Nephew bought a Harley and put on open headers saying the louder the better for safety which I totally disagree with that statement on, but it seems to be very common for Harley Riders to Destroy the peace with their open pipe noise. Rare is the Harley Rider you find with a quiet muffler on their bike.
