  1. Yes that is true, but after you just spent $100,000 or more for your Luxury SUV, would you want it majorly disassembled and re-assembled? Not me, give me a complete new one.

  3. I agree. New Escalade, please.

  4. I agree that this seems like a one-off situation and I wouldn't expect a class action lawsuit, at all. It isn't that a frame replacement is THAT big of a deal, it's that it's a new vehicle and I, personally, would just have issues trusting the shop to do a perfect job. If the vehicle was 8ish years old or older, I wouldn't care as much. I just wouldn't want this done on anything new. You replacing a frame on your own 1959 vehicle in your garage is vastly different than a dealership replacing a frame on a brand new vehicle with hundreds of sensors and miles of wires run throughout the vehicle.

  5. I'd want a refund from GM then go shopping at the Jeep dealer for a Grand Wagoneer.

  6. I would be a little pissed off about a full frame replacement. I can guarantee that vehicle will never be the same. There will be gremlins in that vehicle until it is crushed.

  7. So found out the back story on this. A new 2021 Escalade ESV was sold, the frame on the new auto had a major defect. GM is paying the dealership to replace the frame on the auto, a 4 to 6 week job according to my service tech. Hello GM, give them a new Escalade and take the defective one back. I would not want a brand new full Size SUV to be torn down and rebuilt onto a new frame. that is just crazy.

  8. Class-action obviously requires some significant volume to move forward. Has anyone heard anything about this being a repeated problem (I have not). I wouldn’t worry about the frame replacement; if I really liked the truck and my dealer was known to be competent, it’s a static piece and it’s replacement is straightforward. I took the body off the frame on my ‘59 in my own garage (and without a lift). Wife’s Malibu had it’s pistons replaced, I wasn’t worried about that; we’ve kept the car, that was I think 2 years ago; doesn’t burn oil and the MPG is significantly higher. But our local dealer is very highly rated.

  9. Could be. I could also see an extreme hybrid range topper model as Porsche and Ferrari have done before.

  10. Sounds like a place for a class action lawsuit if they are selling a vehicle with a defective frame. Of course, GM will probably blame the 3rd party that manufactured said frame.

  11. @surreal1272 @Robert Hall Yes @smk4565 goes off the rails on his punch drunk love of Mercedes, but then others do it for other brands and he seems to be a lost soul on F1 racing when his beloved mistress cannot even deliver their fabled AMG One F1 street legal auto and are falling behind in the Hybrid/EV race based on delays and especially current financial reporting that shows the German brands have LOST market share due to the global chip shortage. Loosing market share in China to the Chinese Pirate auto companies hurts and we will see where it ends up. Occasionally @smk4565 makes some decent posts and we are in a Democracy where all can freely speak their mind. Yes his multi-page posts goes off the rails when we should be discussing the topic of the thread. So WHAT DO YOU @surreal1272 @Robert Hall @smk4565 @ccap41 @balthazar @oldshurst442, I so wish I had an @channel or @thread notification of the video showing the C8 Hybrid corvettes? Have to say it should be wicked Fast but a bit quiet for those that are wanting a throaty V8 Snarl.

  14. Seen late this afternoon I was photographing some houses decked out in a big way for Halloween, and saw a few interesting cars in the process. They're GM products, so, if that ain't your thing, you don't have to read on. This is the smaller sibling of "la cathedrale roulante" (FR) ... a 1983 or 1984 (based on the color, since my family bought a Cutlass Supreme that year) Olds Eighty-Eight (Royale) (Brougham) being driven by what seemed like a high school kid. He and/or his parents know what's good for you. While looking at one great Halloween display at a one house, this beauty on an adjacent property caught my eye ... a 2008-ish Pontiac G8 in a metallic charcoal color. In my book, this looks even nicer than a BMW 3 series sedan ... both then and now.

  16. Random video I found on You Tube---$2000 Chinese electric truck--Chang Li Explorer--the front looks like a scaled down Silverado HD. Has a neat tilt bed.

  17. Has the C8R not backed it up already? Some person worrying about delays ... *AMG One*

  18. All I am saying is in GM’s promo video they talk a lot about race cars, super cars, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche are mentioned by name, the best of Europe are mentioned. If GM’s marketplace machine is saying that, then the car better back it up. And I imagine a turbo and hybrid versions are in the works, but I would hope it isn’t too long a delay, because the aftermarket crowd will turbo or supercharge the current Stingray I’m sure, GM is missing out by being able to sell that direct from factory.

  19. So (after yet another page wasted on German car fans), I just want to say this. This is only the beginning for the C8 and for once, I am looking forward to seeing what they put out next.

  20. Again, missing the point with your apples to oranges comparisons. That Miata does not race in the same series as the Vette any damn way. The point here is that IT IS BUILT FROM A ROAD SERIES RACING VETTE. Show me the Miata or Ferrari in this race. Maybe you missed where F1 racing isn't the only high speed racing on the planet earth. https://www.imsa.com/weathertech/results/ And again, only YOU are comparing the Vette to F1 cars because you don't think it's actually from a race car. This is from the road series racing Vette. Familiarize yourself.

  21. Nobody gives a FCK about the manufacturer championship. It's all about the driver championship.

  22. And missing that point by a mile. The point is that the Vette did it without the turbos whereas that was the only choice the Germans had or were capable of doing at the time. Furthermore, you act like they are the only ones advancing while commenting on a thread about a MID-ENGINE Corvette that also has hybrid plans because duh, they don't sit still with one idea. Maybe you missed it, but the company that owns the Vette is also going electrified.

  23. If toyoter can do it (on a massive scale), GM certainly can swap one frame. Wonder what the defect was, and if it involved how many units? Welding issue?

  24. Tahoe frame swap gone bad...old pic that has been here before IIRC...

  25. Formula 1 is the pinnacle of racing. LeMans prototype is like college football compared to the NFL. Everything else is like JV High School ball.
