It's like you canb't win, because union contractors have lots of problems....but lots of non union contractors are really shakey, at least here in Ohio. The games exployers/contractors play is one huge reason I work for a University and not out in the field, have not worked out in the field for almost 9 years now. Mellow take on an old favorite. Posted this on my FB time line, just like the picture. Teaching my firned Sean to turn, this is his bowl. From Zaleski Forest, where we like to hike. Abandonded Baltimore and Ohio manline is an interesting, alternate trail to the left in this picture. From my Recent Fort Lauderdale trip. Yours truely.3 points

I just promoted an employee of mine of 6 years or so to manager. She is 28 years old. I need her to fill in the big hole my partner left. She is in training... But I know she could do it. She started working for us when she was 16 as a cashier. Stopped after a couple of years when she graduated high school. Came back when she started university as she knew that we would be very flexible with her schedule. She graduated recently but Covid had a real impact on her career... I know she will eventually leave me again, because restaurant management is really not what she studied for. But for now, this arrangement suits us both. Its a big move for me too. I never had a manager. Its a new thing for me too. I will have to learn how to cope with having a manager. I will have to learn how to teach somebody in becoming a manager. I will need to learn how to delegate stuff to my manager. I will have to learn what tasks are manager tasks and what are my tasks as a working owner WITH a manager... (exhales with a sigh of relief and with a whole new set of rules and how life is gonna be from now on...)2 points

FYI; there's a lot of similar designs from multiple companies on aftermarket 'mags'. Your blue convert above is wearing Astro Supremes- their spokes are straight. Torque Thrusts have curves spokes: I really like these for the '59, There's 3 or 4 variants of this on the market. American Racing calls them Salt Flat Specials:2 points

I hear these specific and memorable lyrics in my head every now and then ... "Will you meet him on the Main Line? Or will you catch him on the rebound?" "Will you marry for the money? Take a lover in the afternoon ..." Name that song!2 points

“Due to cutbacks…” last week at one customer’s, there were 6 guys to pour half of a driveway apron; I did a whole one myself with 1 helper about 10 yrs ago. Also poured a floor patch inside a firehouse that was about 5’ x 20’ by myself… and I had to wheelbarrow all the concrete because the mixer could fit under the door opening. There’s union vs non-union in a nutshell.2 points

I am being super careful with my Truck as I know my chances of replacing it if totaled or stolen at the moment are not good.2 points

Take away all the shytty accesories that the guy plastered on the car and the car actually looks very good. It has a great stance with the right amount of tire tread and what it seems to adorn very nice mags that compliment the stance which makes it look like a legit muscle car. I like it.2 points

That is fine, but do they not realize that the tailpipe has moved to the power plant rather than the vehicle? Also, the House of Representatives should have passed this bill two months ago, rather than wait until now.2 points

I like those..kind of a larger sized version of the old Halibrand wheels that race cars used in the 50s-60s and as seen on many hot rods. A couple favorite vintage five spokes of mine are these: American Racing 200S (my brother had these on his '68 Camaro SS) And the American Racing Torque-Thrust D--these look great on '60s Mustangs and Cougars, IMO.1 point

I love that! The real funny thing about that is that Heath ledger's Joker would actually say that. Its in character. Other times, memes like this are funny, but not in character. Whomever thought of that is not only a funny guy, but genius enough to equate it to Heath Ledger's Joker! And about that Chevy. Just a minor correction. Its a Caprice, not an Impala. The grill defines it. Caprice grill is more fine with the bowtie on top of the grill Love those what I believe to be torq thrust wheels Impala Grill is more eggcrate-ish and the turning lamps are integrated on the front fins with the side marker as opposed to being in the headlight section only and the front fins just having the side marker on the Caprice. Not forgetting that the bowtie on the Impala is in the middle of the grill. My dad had a '74 Impala coupe. Red with white vinyl top. Im trying to find a picture of it so I could post it. I know I have it somewhere. Ive been trying to find it since the last time I mentioned my dad owned one. Which would be a year, year and half ago. But enjoying the fact that you agree with me that this generation Chevy is a good looking car!1 point

WE have both highly qualified union and non union contractors that work for our university. And a few non qualified half wit contractors of both the union and non union variety Mine was not remotely a comment on the individual worker, but that of the machine therein that dictates such scenarios.1 point

I know you are not a fan of 70's cars, but I find this era of Chevy kinda hot in a way. I actually love this picture. If Chevy impala's had an onlyfans account, this is how they would present themselves. Cars, woodworking, hiking, reading and Music are my escape from the current world. Sometimes escapism is good. I find the tech behind electric cars interesting. I don't thinbk theya nre a cure all. Somewhere there is a planet in pristine shape wher4e something like human life has not evolved. Here on earth the universe is aware of itself through humans. I think we need to be good but not perfect stewards of what we have been given. Electric cars seem like a step in the right direction. Tell us how you really feel sir...and happy Monday to ya!1 point

Very well could have been even though they did offer a dark brown interior to go with that lighter exterior color, as well as the dark metallic brown they offered those few years. I tend to dislike dark brown cars. However, I've seen a few '83 and '84 Supreme Brougham coupes in that color, together with a landau roof and interior in that same color, and they were beautiful. They dialed in that color. Exterior in metallic dark brown, per brochure I would have never thought this could have looked this good. I think this - brown vinyl top and interior - looked better than it potentially did with burgundy. Too much. Per the rear window, the interior upholstery is very faded and has seen better days. MAGA? Bring back Cutlass Supreme RWD coupes and their stablemates. And, while I'm at it, disco, too.1 point

His point was that it’s not listed in the 2022 lineup That’s simply a supply and demand issue. Tesla is selling every vehicle they can build. It would be bad business to lower prices when people will pay a premium for them. All this will do is increase financial incentive to recycle old ones even more.1 point

Both are hideous looking, IMO... but the badge looks better in the center of the grille than stuck at the top. At least they changed the vertical vents that made the fender look like it fit poorly against the bumper on the '19-21.1 point

Zero Emission Transportation Association Celebrates Final Passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Washington, D.C. – The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives on long-awaited passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which is widely known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal. The IIJA makes historic investments in the electric vehicle (EV) sector by providing $5 billion for zero-emission transit. Additionally, this bill includes $7.5 billion to build a national EV charging network. The IIJA’s EV provisions will spur economic development and generate cost-savings for consumers, along with cutting carbon emissions and improving public health. ZETA previously explained the importance of the IIJA’s funding programs. The bill will now head to President Biden’s desk for signature. “EVs are among our most powerful tools for reducing emissions while creating new, good-paying American jobs as we rebuild our country’s infrastructure,” said Joe Britton, the Executive Director of ZETA. “EV manufacturing is injecting billions of new dollars into local economies across the country. The passage of the IIJA presents an unprecedented opportunity to accelerate the deployment of EVs, which will ensure that these benefits are delivered to all Americans—even those who never end up sitting behind the wheel of an EV.” Press Release: Zero Emission Transportation Association Celebrates Final Passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act - ZETA (zeta2030.org)1 point

Visited my GMC salesman today (had some questions about my loan). On the showroom floor was a '21 Yukon Denali; sticker price was $83K, market adjustment was 10 grand. I asked him if there was any buyer pushback on the M.A., and he told me they had 8 of them and this one was the last one left, the others flew out the door. He said not only are the dealerships making good money in a super tight market, but that GM is certainly aware of the scenario and instead of the typical model year price bump of -say- $700, it is going to be thousands. Now- this scenario won't last forever of course, but the point is 'those ridiculous thieving dealerships' are catering to demanding & paying customers. For now. He said GM rebates are (obviously) current gone (this may differ by model). Just did a 'build & price' on a '22 2500HD and zero rebate there.1 point
