  1. And right now all the non GM or non V2V vehicles would be alerted by the V2V vehicles brakes lights coming on much earlier. It's better than no warning at all.
  2. Like I stated earlier it's not meant to drive every single car out there autonomously at the moment, but it would still be useful now if even a few cars that are several cars ahead had it to alert your car that traffic is slowing or stopped and prepare for it before you would. Especially on a freeway like I live near that has a somewhat sharp bend to the left where traffic usually doesn't back up until around the bend and there's almost always a rear-end accident, so if even one car ahead has V2V it would alert the car you're in to prepare for it. And if it was installed on every GM car it would be pretty good. I could pretty consistently count 2 or 3 GM cars or trucks/SUV's out of 10 in a group on the road and sometimes even more. The Hyundai system is a "Smart Cruise Control" so you would have to have the cruise control engaged and the driver would have to remember that, it also requires 25 mph or more. GM V2V is automatic and would be tied in with the rest of the safety tech. onboard.
  3. As far as I've read and heard it's not meant to always drive the car autonomously, but has adaptive brake control/accident avoidance included to slow and/or stop the car. Just like all cars now don't have active braking or other safety features, but if even just a few in the local traffic have V2V then they can at least be alerted of slowing or stopped traffic several cars or even just 3 or 4 vehicles ahead and not just the one in front of you. There's really no perfect scenario, just like this Hyundai system. I'd rather be involved and drive the vehicle myself anyway
  4. Well, not exactly because the car ahead of you can be several cars up so it doesn't have to be directly in front of you to communicate with the other to know that traffic is slowing or stopping up ahead. If all GM vehicles eventually had V2V that would be key to a successful implementation of it.
  5. I don't think it was the full V2V with the CTS though, could be wrong. What year of CTS? I know the CT4 and CT5 as well as the C8 Vette have the new GM "digital nervous system" wiring schematic that ties all the vehicles functions into several different sensors, so they may have a next gen. V2V that works in conjunction with that. They had a system in place with a CT6 Platinum that I had for a 24hr. test drive that works in conjunction with Super Cruise and they've been continuing to test it and seems like they were on the right track, but who knows with all the GM Corp. general counsel involved.
  6. Yeah, I see what they are trying to do, but being able to filter all of that out will be a large task. "Traffic is stopping I should probably start applying the brakes...look a squirrel!!" 🤣 I think what GM has been working on for a few years might work better with what they call V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) where vehicles will communicate with others knowing what's going on ahead and behind and can react earlier and faster than the largely distracted human being behind the wheel. It would start with GM vehicles and would probably become an industry standard. GM says this would help with the "rubber band effect" in rush hour making it much more consistent while keeping vehicles moving smoothly when merging as well as being evenly spaced from each vehicle.
  7. That's scary knowing how scatter brained or slow some people think while driving out there. No thanks.
  8. Nice patina too Go get some!
  9. Apples and Oranges...huge tractor trailer turbo Diesel that was specifically designed to haul 10's of thousands of lbs. to a 4 banger turbo Gasoline full-size pickup truck that wasn't really designed to haul anything other than it's own two axles. That's why GM makes DMax diesels for all of their trucks Colorado, 1500 and 2500/3500, 4500/5500. The 2.7T gasser is strictly offered to appease the EPA, even GM engineers know it's ridiculous.
  10. Ha now you're way out in the weeds dude. And talk about a large displacement turbo diesel engine. I'm talking about a very small displacement 2.7T gas I4 in a 6k lb pickup truck, not a tractor trailer with a huge 12L turbo diesel I6. I think you're smart enough to get that. Again, "No Replacement for Displacement". Exactly! Apples to Oranges...
  11. Oh I was honest and said exactly what I thought. I never stated that the 2.7T would blow up in the Silverado. I stated that it has to work too hard to pull the weight of a full-size truck, just like the Ford EB engines and they get lack luster fuel mileage because of that. Turbos and the torture they go through are enough in a car, but in a full-size truck is a whole nother level of torture. I do love the sound of both of my LS V8's and I stated that as well
  12. Thought you were a fan of the small displacement engines? Do you remember stating that 10 days ago about the 2.7T in the Silverado that I don't agree with GM for using in it?
  13. This reg. old dog layout is good. We're not facebook here thank god!
  14. Corrupt UAW donkey's... GM should make them meet in the middle with the Healthcare plan, 3% is ridiculously low, avg. for other U.S. workers is 28%! GM wanted 15% so they meet in the middle @9% still a steal for UAW and GM gets a slight break on yearly healthcare costs. GM is obviously going to get something else with the deal in way of plants they closed to remain that way. EV's and more automation will put many of these greedy uneducated UAW minions out of work within 10 years. Automatic 3% yearly wage increase when GM is already the highest in the entire auto industry? Longest work stoppage? 1998 UAW strike was 54 days, not as many workers involved, but so far was longer than this one. GM was totally shut down too, I worked at a big Chevrolet, Cadillac dealership at the time, it was insane. https://www.foxbusiness.com/industrials/history-gm-strike-uaw-auto-workers
  15. "Hummer package" "Leaking like a punched dike" You and your innuendo's
  16. The HUMVEE(E)? I know the H2 wasn't the H1 or HUMVEE, but would still be funny to see the eco-terrorists internally combust and burst into flames like all the Hummer H2's they've burned up
  17. Just read that GM and UAW have reached a tentative agreement today. Let's hope it holds!
  18. Right?! I grew up in the Willamette Valley in Oregon wine country with all the extremely tall Western Hemlock and Douglas fir tree forests all around
  19. Nice! Oh you have an extra lumbar vertebrae? No wonder you're so tall!
  20. How does that have anything to do with what I stated above? I didn't state both the Camaro and GT don't look pretty sweet having a lower chop top. My point was other manufacturers do it and make it work. Did it shrink you some so you can fit in a Corvette now?
  21. CLS roofline is too low like the VW CC was, just awkward looking.
  22. +/-250 mi. will not be acceptable for this luxury price range. If GM can get 260 mi. out of the Chevy Bolt now for $38k-$42k and Tesla is getting 345-370 mi. out of the new Model S for $80k-$100k then Porsche better step it up.
  23. The new Ford GT has much worse bunker/chop top windows and no head room. I'm sure most coupes have bunker windows for you Mr. Giant lol. At least GM fixed the front end for 2020, the 2019 MY is pretty bad especially the black center crash bar then mounting the bow tie on it making it too low. It was an easy fix to just paint the center crash bar the body color and move the bow tie to upper grille. They should take $3k out of the designers pay and $3k per sale out of the upper mgmt. pay that approved the 2019 Welcome back from the far North! How was it eh? 😂
  24. In a straight line? Seriously? It's .4 sec. difference and CTS-V smokes them on the track with the badass GM Alpha 2 chassis and it's still available on the Cadillac website to order and purchase, ATS is gone on the site. the CT5-V Blackwing and CT6-V Blackwing are picking up where ATS-V and CTS-V left off. I'm talking about mid size sedans and so were you until you just now brought up wagons and we don't care about wagons in this country, they don't sell well with any manf. I just stated above that the CT6 is for sure staying per word I got from a GM/Cadillac insider. The $100k Cadillac's are worth all that and some and it's a bargain when it's staying with or besting the $200k euro cars. S Class is way overpriced being over $200k now, not saying it's not pretty nice inside, just not $200k nice all around. There was a lot less competition 20 years ago in this country. There was no Tesla, Cadillac and Mercedes as well as other luxury makes have lost sales to them, Volvo was nearly extinct and has made huge strides in the last 5-10 years, there was no Genesis formerly Hyundai Genesis (again trying to figure out who they are) even though they aren't on the same level with their horrendous chassis they do sell as a luxury make and Mercedes didn't have 900 different models to get buried in (being sarcastic, but seriously way too many). FWD/AWD luxury crossovers sell well here, the XT4 and XT5 have been selling really well XT4 is 4th overall right now hanging with the Audi Q5, Lexus NX and Volvo XC60 out of 19 other makes/models in small luxury SUV sales , XT6 which is just launching will sell well too and the new 2021 Escalade is going to be amazing. Don't forget the GLA based off the CLA is a FWD/AWD crossover so it too would be going after XT4, Q5 and NX.
  25. "I have a pretty good feeling" is definitely your biased opinion, so your statement is pointless. CTS-V beat the M5 and E63 AMG multiple times on the track both with handling and quickness for less money and in many ways better build quality, so to say Cadillac hasn't built a better sedan is again your biased opinion. Performance per dollar Cadillac smokes the German's and they know it. My family has had BMW 5 Series cars in the past and now have Cadillac's so I'm speaking from experience on both sides. Is that something you can say? They are replacing the CTS with the CT5 and the ATS with the CT4 both new platforms that coincide with their alpha numeric system so nothing is being killed just improved upon. The CT6 is not going away just because GM discontinued the older XTS that was built in the same factory as the CT6. CT6 is here to stay and will be built in another factory, yes I know this because I know people that work for Cadillac. Since Acura and Lincoln cars are FWD or FWD based AWD (yes even the Continental) and Cadillac is RWD or RWD based AWD like your darling MB, then no you are wrong again. Infiniti is nearly extinct and way behind Cadillac and Genesis is still trying to figure out who they are and are not on the same level as Cadillac, Genesis even knows that. Cadillac and even MB have had over a century on the road, yes, Cadillac lost their way under the old guard bean counters at GM in the late 80's and 90's, but the past 15 years prove that they're building world class luxury cars and SUV's to compete on the world stage and there's definitely more in the pipeline, luxury EV's etc... FYI, an Escalade Platinum is $106k and a loaded 2020 CT6-V Blackwing coming out early next year is right at $108k, all real time information just received by my Cadillac connection. So that shows that your smaller less performance oriented MB GLC Coupe is way overpriced like many MB's. Yes, GM as a whole can produce many more models that cover most all areas of the automobile from pickup trucks to budget cars to high-end luxury models and Cadillac will be here well into the future to continue to challenge BMW's and MB's and once again beat them on the track, have better reliability and performance per dollar.
