    Yet as Drew and others have pointed out, Dodge has pretty much replaced everything that was dated back to the Daimler days and one could from an engineering standpoint state that the platform is pretty much evolutionary new. If they are replacing components with light weight but stronger versions that can handle the performance, than a new platform is not needed if it is still flexible enough to all the auto's to meet the crash standards while being improved.

    New Name would be good, June I could get behind as a much better month for consumers to come, kick the tires, test drive, etc. Change will be the best thing for Detroit to reinvigorate the auto show and the people in the area.

    @Drew Dowdell @Cubical-aka-Moltar Hi guys, I can understand and sucks that you cannot wear contacts, that is probably why I have not felt the need to do Lazik yet. Latest gen is really good, my eye doctor teaches Lazik at the UW here and so I keep up on the latest versions. Some day I will do it, just not right now. Best of luck to a easy speedy recovery for you, remember to use your drops to keep those eyes moist Drew. Cubicle, I can understand where you are at with the BiFocals, my dad has them and my mom has trifocals. Lucky for me not there yet and hopefully never. Stick with my single glasses and taking them off to work on the computer.

    Yup joining the crowd in saying that I also like the look of this. It reminds me of the ORIGINAL Cherokee from the 90's, that lovely Brick on wheels that Jeep sold a butt load of.

    Na, think of them as eye protection. I have kicked around having lazer surgery myself and yet the one thing that you still end up having to wear them for is reading as you get older over 50, as such, I have come to embrace them as my eyesight is perfect for close reading and yet with yard work and wrenching on auto's, they have saved my eyes from having to wear other forms of protective eye covers. That is what my contacts are for, use them for all those things, otherwise I am fine with my eyeglasses that go dark outside in the sun. Someday I might still do this, but not yet for me.

    Yes, that is true, I am talking in the larger general sense to others that have bashed Cadillac about their style. I understand where you are coming from and appreciate that you like various styles from various vendors.

    Seems we have about 3 million EV auto batteries coming up to be retired from their 10 year run. Where will they go? What will happen to them, in the ground, laying around like old tires, where? According to Bloomberg, seems countries around the world are holding the auto companies responsible for dealing with the batteries and making sure they do not get put into landfills. According to the story, it seems all auto companies are recapturing money by selling these perfectly good batteries for use as storage system from home to commercial applications around the world. Only then after they truly wear out in 20-30 years will the rare earth elements be recaptured to be used over again in new products. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2018-06-27/where-3-million-electric-vehicle-batteries-will-go-when-they-retire Seems that from Tesla, GM, Toyota to BYD that the auto batteries have become a total side business that is expected to yearly run around $550 Billion a year in building and selling a Box of Energy or Powervault or whatever they end up calling it. In fact you could very well end up buying your next EV auto along with a home power storage system from your local dealership.

Seems lots of finger pointing by Musk and yet Ford, GM and others have shown the media how they turn out a 1000 auto's a day on their production lines. Ford recently brought the media into one of their plants to show off how they build 1000 trucks / SUVs a day on the assembly line.     Yet that same clean and simple look for a Cadillac or pretty much any other brand besides Mercedes-benz causes a blaster of negative comments. Clean and Simple to a point of being excessive BLAH, PASS. That look is on the same equal footing as the BLAH Camry of the 90's and early 2000's.

    BP Buys Chargemaster to Electrify BP UK Stations According to this Reuters story, British Petroleum (BP) has agreed to buy Chargemaster for $170 million US dollars. This will give BP the leading position in the UK for established EV auto charge points around the country and allow them access to Chargemasters Ultra-Fast Chargers which they will spend $500 million over the next year on installing at their BP stations around the country. BP in competition with Royal Dutch Shell, VW and Daimler who are all investing in their own charging systems or teaming up with other station companies to install ultra-fast chargers wants to lead the nation in the growth market as consumers shift away from polluting fossil fuels to EV auto's. BP like their rivals wants to clearly carve out this position as petrol is forecast to peak as early as next decade as nations move to leave the fossil fuels behind. BP forecasts the EV auto's to soar to 300 million by 2040 from the 1 million in 2016. Having a series of stations where people can stop and get at least 100 miles of charge in less than 10 minutes across our 1,200 petrol stations in Britain is what will happen over the next 12 months. While most will charge at home, BP believes that the stations will play a important role as only the stations will have the Ultra-Fast chargers that can cover from 150 kW to 800 kW charging for road trips. BP will be rebranding Chargemaster to BP Chargemaster this year as they operate the existing 6,500 EV charge points in Britain and the over 50,000 units across Europe. BP now has the largest charging network of any petrol company in the world. Once Britain stations are installed over the next 12 months, BP will then focus on doing the same across China before turning to the US market in 2020. In January, BP invested $5 million in FreeWire Technology which manufactures mobile EV rapid charging systems. In February, BP connected with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi to develop new battery tech for the next generation of auto's.

    Guess I never got that Memo as I do not see that for BMW and MB with the number of them I see on the side of the roads needing help or on tow beds. Maybe it is my area where both brands to sell in large quantity to mostly asian badge snobs and as such you see them on the roads allot and broken down allot.

    Based on reading here and at Motor1, https://www.motor1.com/news/250475/2019-dodge-charger-updated-trims/ It is the same motor with a detuned ECU, this would tell me that I could take the Challenger ECU code and update the Charger. Then you have the same HP / ft-lbs.

    I would totally disagree with that. I grew up in a mixed household of auto's as every maker has their day of building a superior auto. The badge means nothing compared to the quality, comfort and what you like. In that regards, I have had asian brands and all the American brands and do not buy based on badge. You have two types of buyers, badge snobs and those that are buying based on what they like, works for them, etc. That has clearly been shown here.

    I believe Mercedes-benz will have to react to the XT4 once they start losing sales of the GLA / GLC to Cadillac.

    This makes sense to simplify the product line and standardize the style look on the new design language. I have to say they are still giving allot of value for the money.

    So far I have to say I like this look the best of all the Genesis auto's so far. Decent exterior look and interior. Nice job Genesis @William Maley The openings on the lower front end are they just open to the underside or do they actually direct air to cool the brakes?

Totally Makes SMART BUSINESS SENSE! Harley needs to get the EV Bike "Live Wire" up for sale if they want to get younger new riders. Heck this old rider would buy a Live Wire bike, the only thing Harley would have that interests me. The rest of the product line is just old garbage to me.

    We'll more and more evidence that we are heading towards a bear market. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-next-bear-market-in-stocks-will-spark-a-retirement-crisis-2018-06-27 Social Security has started to tap trust funds that will run out by 2034. Medicare has increased using trust funds that are expected to be depleted by 2026. End result is both programs are expected to be insolvent and the gov continues to increase spending on defense over taking care of the country. 10,000 baby boomers retire every day making this an even bigger uglier mess. We are in the 10th year by some of a bull market that has quadrupled since March 2009 with an average 17.5% return, outpacing the prior 89 years of a 10% average growth by S&P 500. A correction is over due. 401K's have been pushed to their highest level ever, but over half of retires will not be able to afford basic expenses in retirement. Pension funds by feds, state, county and cities not to mention private companies will see major hits as they are greatly underfunded and a bear market could force many of them to become bankrupt liabilities that will destroy people counting on their pensions. Corporate tax cuts and go for broke spending of the current administration and political groups in DC has guaranteed Trillions in budget deficits for the next 10-20 years at a time that interest rates are rising. Federal Reserve added $3 trillion to it's balance sheet to deal with the last depression / recession has no room to address the next one. This means rate cutting will not happen and central banks will not be able to buy up bonds. Many have prepared for this, but more often than not many more have not. Paying down debt and saving is a must for everyone.
