Point being? Even the continent's (U.S.A. AND Canada!) best selling vehicle and pick-up truck is foregoing V8s for one reason or other... Electric vehicles are gaining steam (...er...electricity) You know, people have been driving gasoline powered cars for over a century and have gasoline stations in every street corner possible, yet many are giving this electric car thing a chance....well, maybe not where YOU live as charcoal burning electric factories are dirty dirty propositions....but where I live...and $85 000 - $100 000 CDN electric powered Teslas make for a much more intelligent choice... And in Quebec, $85 000 - $100 000 CDN is very very very very hard to come by. The Province/State which is taxed the most in North America. The Province/State where gasoline prices are probably the highest. The Province/State where there are probably the most people living below the poverty line and not many people living beyond the mid level middle class... A Province/State where NOBODY wants to do business in...Quebec Premier Ministers and Canada's Prime Minister not only BEG for foreign investor's to dump money into this Province, but Canadian investor's also....heck, Quebec companies THREATEN the Province to leave the Province because Quebec business practices are the WORST in North America!!!! Yes...WORSE than California's!!! So...my point? As an enthusiast of muscle cars where huge amounts of torque are the key at very low Revolutions Per Minute (RPMs), an electric vehicle like a Tesla Model S answers that question with flying colours. Ford...with its ENTHUSIASTIC Raptor...went ecoboost V6 on us! Point is....the electric motor in a horseless carriage is running of its rails like a crazy train. Like a bat out of hell it goes. And...its much much much cheaper, more reliable, with no liquids other than windshield washer fluid to run! You like, you like. You dont like, your problem, not mine. Keep the blinders on, your loss, not mine!

Yeah...most of them are in trucks... Point is in my favour... And now...watch this: I think Ive made my point. And...to boot...but I wouldnt bet all my money on what Im about to say just yet...but I think that electric vehicles in Quebec out sell V8 cars...cars is the keyword... Yes...take all the V8 cars out there...Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, Hemi 300Cs and Chargers, Challengers, Mercedes Benz S classes and the like and I think the Tesla Model S out sells all V8s in Quebec...

1968 Montreal...only 4 cars in the picture...all V8s. Early 1980s Montreal Many cars in the pic...a couple of 4 cylinders, a possible 6 Cylinder Malibu, it could also be a V8 Malibu, and 4 visible V8s... Recent picture of Montreal traffic. I bet you WONT find 4 V8s in all of that congestion... I see 6 V8s...one is a Ford E350 bus, A GMC Savanna commercial Van, a Cadillac Escalade a couple of pick-up trucks....but no cars....only the Escalade one could say that a dude actually bought his vehicle for the V8 burble...the rest are commercial purposed.... A sea of 4 cylinder cars...including a couple of those cheap, false entry level lux Bimmers...
-
Ummm….. yeah. Not where I come from... Gasoline is expensive where I come from...literally, there are but a handful of V8s... The new Mustang is out and about in Montreal...Ive seen 7-8 of them in the wild...1 was a GT. The rest were all ecoboosted 4 cylinders... The LX cars from Chrysler...a decade ago...most were of the Hemi variety...today...all Pentastars. The price of oil is what? $30-$35 a barrel? In Montreal...the price of gasoline...87 octane...$1.09 CDN per liter today...

THIS...I agree with. If one is to complain about a Model X....THIS is the way to go and is as legit as it gets. But to whine about it just because its electric...well... I gave reasons why I may like a Model X...well, not the Model X because I HATE ALL CUVs and SUVs and this Model X is no exception...but a Model S would be greatly accepted in my driveway. Or a Chevy Volt. Or the upcoming Tesla Model 3.

Blu...as a consumer... Electric vehicles benefit me. Electricity versus black gold is cheaper for me. As a Quebecois...electric vehicles benefit me...as the source of fuel that powers the electric vehicle is produce and sold and the monies made stay in my Province... As an environmentalist...not really, but for the sake of this argument, the electricity produced in my Province through its raging rivers via damming lakes and introducing generators beneath the raging rivers is as green as it gets... As an enthusiast....yes an enthusiast...a MUSCLE CAR enthusiast INSTANTANEOUS torque tickles my fancy...and electric cars have instantaneous torque no matter what speed, no matter what rev range... So...the V8 burble is lost...its a criteria that I dont mind not having...hey...it aint 1969 dude...take a look around you...THERE ARE NO V8s burbling anymore...RAV4s, Camrys and fake cheapo entry level 4 cylinder lux Mercedes and Bimmers roam our streets...

Hey...where I come from...damming raging rivers produces cheap electricity... Give me a T Give me an E Give me a L Give me a S Give me an A Gooooooo! TESLA!

The summer of 2025? Good!!! That leaves us at least 4 years to enjoy it before Judgement Day occurs and the robots take over. -

Nice B-17. You've inspired me to go back to WW2 aircraft pics for a signature...

I really cant stand the Eurovan look. I learned how to drive the Montreal winters and parallel park in my uncle's 1988 white Chevy Van. Work van. 350 cubic inch V8. No side windows. I remember those 1970s custom vans and my all time favorite van is this one: Obviously my uncle's van did not look like that, but you could see where my allegiance falls regarding vans. My second favorite van would be these: and tied for second place: So...these Eurovans could kiss my @$$!

Sorry to hear about that buddy. My sincerest condolences. I know how you feel... Its been exactly 2 weeks that I received the news about my mommy. Hang in there. Grieve the way you wanna grieve. Grieve as much as you want, however you want. And just stand tall and proud because we only have one momma.

February 2016: General Motors Co.
oldshurst442 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in 2016 Sales Archive
As much as I hate the Camaro's exterior looks, Im elated with the fact that a GM 2.0T could reach horsepower highs to take it to the Golf GTIs and Civics and Subaru WRX Stis and BRZs and everything that resembles the Fast and Furious Tunermobiles...with a tight little Alpha platform sports car that could out accelerate, out turn, out muscle, out tune, out fart can, out about anything without the use of a V8 engine...yup...a 4 cylinder Camaro....beating up the competition in 4 cylinder tuner guise, in 6 cylinder mid level guise and in V8 pony car form...other than the Hellcat of course...but the Hellcat is a pure mid-sized muscle car rather than pony car muscle car... I wanna wish the same for an ecoboosted 4 cylinder Mustang...but I have to say that Chevrolet/GM really made a Camaro that is really really hard to beat... Like I said, the Camaro 2.0T is very tuneable that will wreak havoc on any 4 cylinder sporty coupe competition no matter what domain the performance criteria will be...be it in handling, in tracking, in straight line acceleration...and yes, Im talking about the 4 cylinder only. -
SQUONK SQUONK! Im imagining how that SQUONK SQUONK horn sounds like and Im replaying it in mind!

I equally like both generations. I really dont know yet how I feel about the loss of the toothy waterfall grill. I know I like the new grille. I just dont know if Im ready to let go of the toothy waterfall grill just yet. I guess it really is time to retire the toothy waterfall grill as Hyper mentioned, the 1950s are long gone.

The What Would You Buy Instead Thread- New Audi TTS
oldshurst442 replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
Basically for me, it came down to three cars... Mustang GT350 2017 Corvette Grand Sport But I figured, Im not a track guy, nor a two seater type guy either. So the Challenger wins...because muscle car in the truest sense of the genre. -
The What Would You Buy Instead Thread- New Audi TTS
oldshurst442 replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
Ive seen a couple of posters that have chosen Challenger Hellcats. Id like to join that group of people...MOPAR rules! Sublime or Jazz Blue for me. Hellcat or Scat Pack. Either or. Although that Cadillac ATS-V that Casa posted looks damned good too... -
One thing that Im disappointed in with the comparo test is that the BMW and M-B were not tested. I would have like to see not only how the Caddy fits in with the new offerings from BMW and M-B, but the Audi as well... I just googled the A6...it has only been on the market for 4 years...but it might as well be an eternity. The CTS is only 2 years younger, but Cadillac came to play hard with this generation CTS and the other two Germans are new. I agree with the interior of the A6...its awesome...
-
OK...with that being said... Could I actually keep my opinion that I prefer the Cadillac CTS-V Sport over the Audi S6 because the CTS looks a lot less than its other brothers than the Audi S6 does to the Audi A4/S4? I stand by what I said... It might be a petty childish argument, but my argument holds water...and nobody will ever change that... And Im sure you folk will hold on to your opinions just as strong as I do mine... But I did post pics and explain them to prove how I view things...rather than just use blanket statement words that everybody is guilty of producing cars that look the same... No drama we said... Cool... Its funny though, I got one poster trying to refute my opinion of preference and another telling me (and others) to cut the crap.... Yet...reality is...Cadillac as of 2016...does NOT produce cars that look EXACTLY the same...like others do... They look similar, sure... Oldsmobile... Cadillac might not be as differentiated as Oldsmobile was in similarity, but they are not as close as some of us want to portray either... And THAT is the God's honest truth... It is NOT a bad thing for Audi or BMW or even Cadillac to do that... I do prefer the Oldsmobile way rather than the Audi way... From one extreme to the other and Cadillac as of now, is in the middle. This will surely change...but as of 2016...not as guilty as the others...
-
No Frisky...they dont look exactly the same...especially the way the Audis do... Anyone who says differently is trying to justify an obvious biased opinion... I showed pics...with the Cadillacs... The ATS and the CTS look like they lean forward...as does the XTS...but the XTS has obvious FWD forward leaning stances...but the ATS and the CTS have that look because the body lines are designed that way... The CTS has a body line that starts form the front wheel well and goes upwards towards the back crosses both door handles and ends at the top of the back lights. The ATS has that also, but its very very subtle...while retaining the lean forward look... But because its so subtle...keen eyes need to notice that, but with the CTS its very apparent... The CT6...the body lines are the same...the same line that starts from the front wheel well, crosses both door handles and finishes at the top of the backlights...but the CT6 stance is more level...it does not lean forward...at all... It actually looks laid back rather than go get her forward. And the body lines are not drawn at the same angles... Sure...someone could confuse that...but that someone could not tell a Ford from a Ferrari... In Audis case... The same body line is the same across the board...the same stance...the same green house... The same body line that starts from the top of the front headlight...crosses the side profile at exactly the same angle and finishes at the exact same spot which is at the top of the back light....having the same visual impact and the same profile and stance... An observant Average Joe could actually tell the difference with Cadillac cars... An enthusiast has difficulty with Audis from afar. That is the BIG difference... You could argue all you want...and at the end of the day..its just an opinion that you and I hold... But...please...dont try to justify your bias... I...have justified my biases with deep explanations and pics... Do the same if you want to be on an equal footing with me.

The Drachma? Sorry Drew, ever since 2002, the Drachma gave way to the Euro... Oh...DRAMA... OK...no drama...just comedy.

LOL!!! OK...Ill take it down. I just wanted to post a nice cool pic of a nice cool baseball field. I went from Fenway Park to 1930s Wrigley Field to 1930s Yankee Stadium to 1950s Ebbets Field... Then I remembered that AT&T baseball field has a cool view...so I went with that. I found a cool pic of Wrigley Field free of marketing advertising BS....although I did enjoy the years when that house was painted all red and advertised Budweiser back in the day.
