It can be familial and still retain the vertical headlamps.

I'm not a fan of the trim but the part that is terrible is the black piece between the trim and door. The "fake" window..?
-
Exactly and it's just been stretched around a larger frame, literally. The design language isn't bad, they just didn't execute it here like they did with the CT4/5/XT4/5. This really needed the vertical headlights and I cannot emphasize that enough.

This sucks. The front just looks about as bland as anything. i was really hoping for some tweaks from the rendering we saw. I didn't expect to actually GET the rendering. This needs the large, vertical headlights that really distinguish this. I don't hate the Cadillac design language but I just think it needs "more" here.

Sales: December 2019 Sales Figure Ticker
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
Today was one of those days where I filled up at half a tank because I may get stuck in snow/sleet/ice traffic on my way home and HOPEFULLY that doesn't happen but if it were to, I can sit for a day idling. Also, gas in Missouri is almost $0.30 cheaper than where I'm at in Illinois. -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

7500lb towing isn't all that comparable and there are just too many variables that the F150(or add Silverado or Ram) can be had. 7500lb is comparable to the mid-size Colorado, Ranger, Gladiator, Frontier, and Tacoma. -

7500lb towing, what's its payload? I'm not a huge fan of comparisons without the details of each vehicle. They didn't need to choose a 52k F150. With the minute details they chose, you could get an F150 that can tow 7500lbs that can get better than 18mpg for less than 52k. Obviously, they picked and chose criteria that fit their agenda. -

The two above posters saying we don't care about the future and we should be in EVs are driving a Grand Cherokee, Escalade, Trailblazer SS, and a 90's Suburban. -

GMC News: Hummer Is Back As A 1,000 HP Truck By GMC

FWIW, I've read the ZR1 Vette has something like 9300 lb-ft of torque in 1st gear when multiplied similarly. -

I cannot see this same platform being able to handle dually HD duties. Those trucks weigh 8000lbs and built to tow 35,000lbs. That's a whole 'nother level of engineering. I'm not saying they can't do it, just that this platform very likely isn't the one to be able to do that.- 59 replies

What's weird is if they used about 1/5 - 1/4 of that gold, it would look pretty sharp being black with some gold accents. Buuuuuuut, as it stands, that's hideous. -

Yes, I've seen that video but nothing other than it being electric powered hints at Rivian. I haven't heard any reports hinting Ford will use Rivian's platform for the F150.- 59 replies

I didn't realize they were supplying the Rivian platform for the electric F150, as well. Interesting.. that makes me wonder how different that F150 will be from the ICE F150's. Either way, that isn't out now and they're still planning the 2nd shift for battery production. It makes me wonder if it takes that much longer to produce the battery packs or if they're stocking up for future use.- 59 replies

This is what I went off but they might be global sales. Those weren't global. They were US-only sales.- 59 replies

neuronev Neuron EV - Newest Challenger to Tesla
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Theoretically, doubling Tesla Model X's sales(as it costs about twice as much), that would be ~40-50,000 vehicles per year. Possibly doubling that for both SUV and truck and that would be roughly 35% capacity and that sounds smart and safe. It also makes since why they're working with Ford/Lincoln as even with 20,000 Lincoln's per year, it still leaves room for growth and demand. Completely theoretical numbers here... 45,000 R1T 45,000 R1S 20,000 Lincoln 25,000 amazon 135,000 out of a possible 264,000 is about 50% capacity and I think all of those are very generous numbers outside of Amazon, because that's a contract.- 59 replies

And by 2022 they'll be splitting those lines with Ford/Lincoln so cut those numbers in about half. No clue on what actual sales will be but I would only assume they bought this plant with good forecasting of future demand. Even with 264,000 capacity, I think it said they are only running 1 shift and a second shift for battery production so they're predicting about 1/3 production capacity for now. I'm not sure how that exactly works for production, if it takes twice as long to make the battery packs than the rest of the vehicle? That's what that sounds like to me or maybe they plan that to get ahead of demand and sit on some battery packs and cut the 2nd shift for a period of time. Who knows.- 59 replies

neuronev Neuron EV - Newest Challenger to Tesla
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Oh I don't think this particular vehicle will make inroads against the established automakers but I think it'll be a second generation with a much cheaper entry price. I don't have proof but my thoughts are they make a higher priced vehicle with better margins for them for security and safety and once they are more established and grow their brand they can come into a higher volume segment. As of right now, they don't even have the capacity to do much damage to the D3 even if they had a 30k truck. they currently only have the capacity to build 264,000 vehicles a year and they have a contract to build 100,000 for Amazon and they''ll be building the new Lincoln SUV as well. They need the 100,000 for Amazon built by 2024 so for 2022-2024 the line will be split with Ford/Lincoln. This was a pretty interesting read. https://www.motortrend.com/news/rivian-readies-production-electric-trucks-suvs-ford-lincoln-amazon/- 59 replies

I think they just aimed high with their initial announcement and there was enough wiggle room to be able to lower the prices, this is just my opinion though.- 59 replies
