  1. Every 2-3 months we're hitting a new recession!!
  2. What's weird is if they used about 1/5 - 1/4 of that gold, it would look pretty sharp being black with some gold accents. Buuuuuuut, as it stands, that's hideous.
  3. An H2 is not even remotely the same size as a G Wagen.
  4. Yes, I've seen that video but nothing other than it being electric powered hints at Rivian. I haven't heard any reports hinting Ford will use Rivian's platform for the F150.
  5. I didn't realize they were supplying the Rivian platform for the electric F150, as well. Interesting.. that makes me wonder how different that F150 will be from the ICE F150's. Either way, that isn't out now and they're still planning the 2nd shift for battery production. It makes me wonder if it takes that much longer to produce the battery packs or if they're stocking up for future use.
  6. This is pretty awesome.
  7. This is what I went off but they might be global sales. Those weren't global. They were US-only sales.
  8. Theoretically, doubling Tesla Model X's sales(as it costs about twice as much), that would be ~40-50,000 vehicles per year. Possibly doubling that for both SUV and truck and that would be roughly 35% capacity and that sounds smart and safe. It also makes since why they're working with Ford/Lincoln as even with 20,000 Lincoln's per year, it still leaves room for growth and demand. Completely theoretical numbers here... 45,000 R1T 45,000 R1S 20,000 Lincoln 25,000 amazon 135,000 out of a possible 264,000 is about 50% capacity and I think all of those are very generous numbers outside of Amazon, because that's a contract.
  9. And by 2022 they'll be splitting those lines with Ford/Lincoln so cut those numbers in about half. No clue on what actual sales will be but I would only assume they bought this plant with good forecasting of future demand. Even with 264,000 capacity, I think it said they are only running 1 shift and a second shift for battery production so they're predicting about 1/3 production capacity for now. I'm not sure how that exactly works for production, if it takes twice as long to make the battery packs than the rest of the vehicle? That's what that sounds like to me or maybe they plan that to get ahead of demand and sit on some battery packs and cut the 2nd shift for a period of time. Who knows.
  10. Oh I don't think this particular vehicle will make inroads against the established automakers but I think it'll be a second generation with a much cheaper entry price. I don't have proof but my thoughts are they make a higher priced vehicle with better margins for them for security and safety and once they are more established and grow their brand they can come into a higher volume segment. As of right now, they don't even have the capacity to do much damage to the D3 even if they had a 30k truck. they currently only have the capacity to build 264,000 vehicles a year and they have a contract to build 100,000 for Amazon and they''ll be building the new Lincoln SUV as well. They need the 100,000 for Amazon built by 2024 so for 2022-2024 the line will be split with Ford/Lincoln. This was a pretty interesting read. https://www.motortrend.com/news/rivian-readies-production-electric-trucks-suvs-ford-lincoln-amazon/
  11. I think they just aimed high with their initial announcement and there was enough wiggle room to be able to lower the prices, this is just my opinion though.
  12. First off, calm down. These are just renders. Second, it's so similar because that's all the user who created did was use bits and pieces of the current gens to make the Escalade.
  13. Hopefully they tighten up that front end some. I get the design language but I think that rendering is too basic. This will likely have those vents directing air around the front wheels and that rendering doesn't look like those work the same as the Silverado/Tahoe.
  14. Or if you'd even get it back. What a scumbag company.
  15. 3rd party companies don't need a 60-100k warranty and you know that.
  16. I don't know a single auto enthusiast that doesn't think a V Series Escalade was/is a great idea. I still cannot fathom why they still haven't built one. It seems like such an easy money grab. The only thing I can think of is that the AWD/4WD system simply cannot handle 600hp/tq and they still want it to use a real 4WD system. If that were to be the case, take apart a G63 or G65 and re-engineer it.
  17. Click on the link I provided. That shows 2017, 2018, and 2019.
  18. I've read GM was down 15% in China in 2019. All of the D3 were down there, them being the least. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-gm-china/gms-2019-china-sales-drop-for-second-year-on-weak-economy-idUSKBN1Z606D
  19. While so much of it is taken apart, you should dynomat everything. I've ridden in a vehicle where they dynomat-ed the wheel wells and it is amazing how much noise is coming from the tires and pavement. At that point, what's another $500-1000 to dynomat the inside of every panel and it would truly be whisper quite inside and out. I'm looking into putting a dynomat on the insides of my wheel wells because that would be great. Do you have everything taken out already and you're just waiting to start purchasing things or is there still plenty of disassembly to go? Project pictures??
  20. That's a really nice nip and tuck of the E Class. I think it just looks a little "tighter" and I like it. There's been talk of a new rotary for decades at this point... I'll only believe it when there's one at an autoshow.
  21. 72k isn't worth it, IMHO. That's just absurd.. What the price difference for 50% of that battery pack for 400 miles of range? Or 500 miles of range?
  22. There are plenty of swaps that are done just because they can and want to. Stuffing a Ferrari 458 engine in a BRZ is one that comes to mind. They can into all sorts of issues but just wanted to because they had the skill and money. Anybody doing real swaps like that are just doing it because they want to, more than anything else. Like @balthazar said, in the end, it's just because they want to.
  23. Personally, I doubt it will ever go down but if it just stays the same over the course of 5 years or so and accounting for inflation, it will be "like" it goes down. We have no clue how low it will or won't be as a Ford or Lincoln. I think it is assumed it will be a Lincoln, from what I've read. That is just speculation though as Ford and Rivian haven't released anything about it yet.
  24. Very nice. While 60k+ is well out of my price range, it isn't all THAT terrible considering what you're getting and the performance and packaging these offer. We will see how things pan out though. Maybe it turns into a huge flop, maybe they get 200k sales a year and sustain that. We shall see.
  25. Yep, I have really high hopes for the R1T. Hopefully my hopes aren't becoming too high and then I'll be disappointed but I think their whole business plan and partnership(s) have me thinking they will be very successful.
