  1. If the only thing people are complaining about is the name of the vehicle, they did a good job. They created conversation and headlines all over the place and the only negative is the name.
  2. 31 mpg highway? That seems like super weak sauce.
  3. They were but they were 100% sports car brands just like the "Mustang" brand has always been. People shall not fear that the 2-door car will not be going away. This is just an addition. I think it would have to be well into the millions to have even the slightest impact on Ford.
  4. The people who are pissed are absolutely NOT EV SUV customers though so it's a moot point they're upset. How about Aston Martin making an SUV, Lamborghini making an SUV, Rolls Royce making an SUV, Maserati making an SUV, Ferrari making an SUV, Porsche making an SUV... all companies that were 100% cars and sports cars all the way(minus probably Rolls) and now they're making or have plans to make SUVs.
  5. I assume this is it as it was posted in the press release of the charger/network.
  6. Absolutely. If you're committing to a full blown EV, you might as well commit to the proper charging setup.
  7. "New Ford all-electric vehicles, including the Mustang-inspired SUV arriving next year, will come standard with a Ford Mobile Charger that can charge regardless of outlet power (120- and 240-volt outlets); for those with longer commutes or who want greater peace of mind, a Ford Connected Charge Station can fully power a vehicle overnight while they sleep. Ford is collaborating with Amazon in the U.S. for all your installation services – from 240V outlets to the Ford Connected Charge Station"
  8. No worries there. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2019/10/17/ford-introduces-north-americas-largest-electric-vehicle-charting-network.html https://electrek.co/2019/11/18/ford-mustang-mach-e-home-charging-on-par-with-tesla/ "The Ford Mobile Charger with its 14-50 plug, on a dedicated 40/50amp circuit (so, an electric-oven outlet), will pull 32 amps, giving the Ford Mach-E Mustang RWD 22 miles of range per hour. That’s 264 miles of range over a 12 hour period, surely enough for 99%+ of drivers. BUT, if you really need more, Ford is also offering a hardwired, 48 amp wall box, which will get you 32 miles of range per hour."
  9. For as pretty as the coupe is, the convertible doesn't so anything for me. This doesn't surprise me though as i'm not a huge fan of how convertibles look.
  10. Perfect daily for many many people, other than price. I don't know what this will be priced but I have to believe it's around the 40k mark... I'd drive one of these.
  11. I just wasn't sure because this Mach E isn't about to be on sale anytime soon so the underpinnings could have engineering yet to be completed.
  12. Oh yeah, I should have known it wouldn't be in something this size compared to what they made the skateboard for.
  13. @dfelt do you think this could be a Rivian skateboard or Ford's?
  14. On automotive pages, it's the cool thing to do to hate on Mustangs, EVs, and SUVs so this is just fuel to the stereotypical member of an auto page. The same people that are complaining about the naming are the same ones who wouldn't consider it even if they made a whole new name for the vehicle. Three of the most internet auto enthusiast triggering words were all put into one product, Mustang + EV + SUV. People can't help but hate on it. There has to be something else on this new platform.
  15. Well, you're up in arms and you're not a Mustang customer... so... Just like we've all discussed GM should do with the Corvette and I still think they could/should. It's a little ugly but 500hp+ would fix that!
  16. If people can swallow the price, there's no glaring downside to it. Heck, even in the Edge-sized price range this isn't really "out there" in pricing. They mortgaged the pony during hard times. All things are on the table for a business. Remember when everybody was like, "Corvette should split off and create its own brand and have a Corvette SUV"? Because I do.
  17. News Flash: No matter what Ford sells, you won't be sold on it.
  18. I'd like to go sometime in the next week or two, as well.
  19. I think it is an all around interesting move that their first real EV(excluding the joke of a Focus Electric) is near coupe-like and performance oriented as opposed to something basic as sht like an electric Escape or Fusion sized/shaped vehicles. I have a feeling the massive tablet is going to become more and more common as it reduces costs and people like big screens, in general. Enthusiasts notice it doesn't flow well but AverageAshley just sees something that looks highly technologically advanced because big screen and sees fancy.
  20. While I'm not a huge fan of throwing Mustang on the actual vehicle name I think people are missing the point in why they're doing it. Balthy can probably understand as EV sales really aren't much of anything. They're using the name to grab attention and attention they got. Chevy came out with the Bolt and hardly made a splash and it's a very adequate EV with no real downsides outside of price.. and 'looks' but those are subjective.
  21. Personally, I would not say that trails out of the headlight cluster until the 2013/2014s.
  22. They started that in 2013 in the ATS and 2014 in the CTS.
  23. And the two "big hitters" are: Corolla: down 0.3% Civic: up 0.6% They really aren't missing out on anything, yet, at least. Equinox: up 2.29% Trax: up 82.04% Ecosport: up 10.7% Escape: down 7.2%
  24. Those don't even sell at reputable brands.
  25. I couldn't agree more. It isn't like it's a small blip on the radar at this point. The SUV/CUV/truck market has been growing and growing for decades. Once SUVs/CUVs bridged most of the fuel economy gap, it created the huge swing that we're in right now. People can easily pull 30mpg in their compact CUVs.
