  6. It still has less torque than a Lincoln and at higher RPM. Pathetic Mercedes. The GLB hasn't been tested by a 3rd party yet. I think it is safe to assume that we don't know what it is and isn't quicker than yet. If it happens to be quicker than a 2.3 Mustang and V6 Camaro, it should as it's nearly twice the price. FWIW, the V6 Camaro has actually tested at 0-60 in 5.1 seconds.
  7. Exactly, that is another reason the slower charging wireless pad would be ideal/okay. It's just another thing to 'not think about'. Realistically, I typically only drive about 25 miles per day mon-fri. The lowest range EV would suffice for 99% of my trips. It's the random 100 mile days on the weekends that would be more of an issue and then visiting my brother/sister 5.5hrs away a couple times per year.
  8. It doesn't even have to be some super fast charger. It can go at whatever pace because it would be on it for long periods of time overnight. I would imagine a good 10-12 hours and I highly doubt you're using anywhere close to 200 miles of range a day. I think you'd start the day full or lose to full from a slow charging mat every day. Any estimate on the time it would take to charge on a wireless charger, dfelt? You would almost completely forget about gas stations or charging locations. It would be almost perfect. If I were to be picky, I'd want maybe 600 miles.. 500 miles would get me to my sister's place 5.5hrs away in the winter, with a 30% loss of range, with a dash to spare. That'd be a 350 mile range for winter(assuming worse case). Charging when I get there would be another situation all together but I could cross that bridge when I got there.
  9. Things you don't have to think about? How about a 500 mile range EV with a wireless charging pad for the car/suv/truck in the garage? That sounds pretty ideal to me.

  11. I always think it is a great idea to continue to innovate and create new forms of propulsion, even if they don't work out. The need to continue to push limits is where there are groundbreaking breakthroughs.
  12. Definitely. It has to be pretty damn close to flat to appeal to me. Perfectly flat isn't necessary but it has to be damn close and it isn't so much needing the extra space but laying things flat that I just bought or am transporting is the concern.
  13. Isn't that what the automobile was in the first place? There was never truly a "need" for an automobile.
  14. Most third rows in vehicles can be folded flat. I would only assume something this size with a third row would have the rear seats fold-able so the hatch space can actually be used.
  15. There are limitations on literally everything. EVs, Gasoline, diesel, hydrogen... Of course each individual engine has its limits and that is why new engines come out every year with new/additional technology, like the examples I listed. I don't think we are at the engineering limits of gasoline engines yet.
  16. It wouldn't be a $24,000 price jump(81k - 57k). The Navigator jumps from $73,205 to $77,555 from base to middle model. The Escalade jumps from $76,490 to $82,090 from base to the next model/trim.
  17. I think this looks really good. It's probably smaller than I'd ever want to go again but it's probably a a pretty kickass daily for somebody who likely doesn't need a ton of space too often.

Because your reply to Balthy implied that while there is a huge price gap between the ICE Sonic and EV Bolt because they are not sharing anything that the ICE Equinox and theoretical Equinox-sized EV would share things. I must be missing something because his comparison seemed straight forward and not apples and oranges. Sonic -> Bolt - 20k price gap Equinox -> EV Equinox-sized vehicle - theoretical 20k price gap Do we? They're still making advances in the internal combustion engine.I don't think they've maxed them out at all yet. They're just cracking into the variable compression engines and GM has brand new fancy technology in both the 2.7T and new 5.3.
  19. Then I'm confused why you mentioned the Sonic and Bolt not sharing anything as if the Equinox and Equinox EV would share things if we all agree it would be on its own dedicated EV platform.
  20. Absolutely not. They're so ridiculously overpriced I don't even consider them. I think they wanted like $3500-4000 for 3 years or 45,000 miles on my Lincoln.

  23. A theoretical Equinox-size EV wouldn't share anything either. It would have to be a ground up design to be worth anything and not just attempt to shimmy batteries and electric motors under the skin. As far as I know, we were just talking Equinox size and not actually an Equinox EV.
  24. I'd also bet that if a military were to put in a bulk order that they'd have no issue fitting a more capable setup with solid axles, if that's that desirable.
