  1. I think it's a great idea and also looks NOTHING like that rendering. Basically make a Maverick that's full electric and I think it would do just fine in the market.
  2. I'm not a fan of that either. It does nothing for me. My friends' Indians sound slightly better but still not great.
  3. My one buddy, who has a pretty well built cholo-style Harley, put true dual exhaust, because that's the style, and the left pipe basically goes right where your left leg goes. It's absurd. He's waaaay more into the look than the function of this bike. He's pretty much chromed everything that can be chromed, has the pipes that stick out like 12-14', has an air bag for the rear suspension, I think 16" bars, and put a larger front wheel on it. It's definitely not my style, but I can respect the work done to it. This isn't his bike but this exhaust looks exactly how his does. Look at that location of the left pipe... This actually looks very similar to his build but all of the body color is Tequila Sunrise orange on my friend's.
  4. Seeing them and actually being around them is two different things. Do you know the age of all of those bikes at your neighbor's? I also have a weird feeling that they're not actually breaking out the tool box and fixing things before going out for a ride every time. That just doesn't sound realistic, unless these bikes are from before the 90's or 00's. I mean, their styling hasn't changed in 100 years so everything clean will look similar from 100ft away.
  5. Well, you're wrong here. GM is STARTING with the work truck and adding the other trims later this fall. "First out of the gate will be the Silverado EV Work Truck (WT), in the spring of 2023. Chevrolet says that, actually, only the version of the WT with the larger battery affording 400 miles of driving range will go on sale then. Later, a sub-400-mile Silverado EV WT that is promised to be the price leader of the lineup—ringing in at $41,595, per Chevy—will arrive. It isn't yet clear whether the cheapest Silverado EV WT will land before or after the Silverado EV RST models arrive in by fall 2023." https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-chevrolet-silverado-ev-pickup-truck-availability-timing/
  6. Nothing from Yamaha touches what Harley makes in their respective classes. I'm no Harley fan, I don't like their styling and really don't like the culture, but their build quality and attention to detail is second to none in the V-twin cruiser category. Obviously they aren't as reliable as the Japanese (has anything American built ever been? Hahaha) but you'll never be left on the side of the road on any bike these days. I take it David isn't around them very often. Half of my friend group has Harleys and a couple friends have Indians. There is zero fit and finish issues with either bike brand but Harley seems to make something that "feels" higher quality. More metal, less plastic, they do a better job of hiding cables/wires than their competition. The feel of using the hand controls and foot controls just has a more solid feel to it. Those trucks look pretty awesome and I love the wheels, even though they're about 2 inches too big.
  7. Sounds like you haven't been around Harleys in about 20 years. They're long gone from the times of needing everything tightened and tuned up after a long ride.
  8. Correct, you can get a less equipped car with less performance for less money. That is how things work.
  9. Also, with what people are willing to pay for Corvettes right now and with demand exceeding production, there's no reason to make it cheaper, even if they could. They may be able to price this at 90k but know they can't produce enough as it is so they'll create less demand and still profit as much as possible. There will always be early adaptors and people that want the newest thing. I'll be more curious how this sells in it's 3rd model year. I think it'll do just fine but it is an interesting change for the Vette.
  10. It is a lot but it's also running with the Z06 in a straight line and likely pretty dang comparable around a track adding AWD. Didn't the AMGs/Ms skyrocket once they added AWD to the E63/M5?
  11. I'm all for renewables as long as they perform with the "non renewables" and don't cost twice as much.
  12. I agree with @Drew Dowdell. It looks pretty much perfect but I'd prefer a little smaller wheel with a little more sidewall. I know most builds involve as big of wheels that will fit into wheel wells but I'd prefer more of a 17-18' wheel here.
  13. What do you think would be the smallest engine needed to charge the batteries faster than depleting them in an application like this? Doesn't the Volt have like a 1.2L engine that's only used as a generator? I couldn't imagine really needing anything larger than that, even though the electricity consumption will be much greater than a Volt. I'm thinking about this because, while I still think it's a great idea, that's going to add a lot of complexity and those "potential savings" goes down the drain when adding ICE maintenance to the mix. I know I'm more of an outlier with the little daily miles that I rack up but, I think if I had 70-100k to drop on a daily truck, I'd just go straight EV and get a Silverado with 400 miles or range or Lightning with 330 miles of range. There are zero future towing expeditions that would be more than trips to local lumber yards or picking up dirt/rock. 50 miles of range would suffice with a trailer in both of those instances so I wouldn't care about the massive decreased towing range. The more I think about this, the more I think the "standard" PHEV would be better here. Give it 30-50 miles of electric range then use it as a standard hybrid.
  14. Just thinking aloud. People with skin cancer, do they go outside at all? Like ever? If people that are susceptible to skin cancer and live in strong sunlight states like Florida and California, maybe a window roofed vehicle is the least of their cancer related problems and maybe, these folk should take up residence in less sunny areas. Not to sound cruel or anything, but I dont comprehend the issue you are trying to raise here. I believe windshield and roof automotive glass already blocks UVA & UVB rays. If this is truly an issue for somebody, they're already used to tinting their vehicles because no side windows prevent UVA rays anyway.
  15. Yep, I think I only paid like $30-ish each for my rear rotors for my MKC. It's also just easier to do the job all in one go rather than stop and run out, hang around for a bit, then continue the job an hour later when it could have already been completed. I honestly think that may be the biggest thing for me. I'd rather spend the extra $10-50, whatever it may be, to just get it done quicker. I HATE stopping to run out for something in the middle of a project.
  16. Supposedly they'll still offer the range extender - ICE engine. I still think this is a great idea for an EV (PHEV) truck. I can't imagine how far a full tank would yield them and how long their on-board generator would allow them to power things, and a home.
  17. Motor Trend is saying they'll be selling the work truck version this spring. I found that interesting, as well. This is the first time that I can think of that a manufacturer is starting with the cheapest model before the most expensive ones. Motor Trend, and the TFL guys, have both said that the production version of this Ram will be shown "in a few months." That's one thing that seems odd about this concept showing yesterday but the production version in only a few months? I'm sure a ton will have to change from this concept version but I do really like the seating idea. The rest is all pretty "meh". I mean there are some cool things but its mostly gimmicky. "It's still just a concept, but the real deal will break cover in a few months. The design of the production model has been locked in and keeps a lot of what the concept is showcasing. And the name is also a takeoff: The concept is Revolution, the production truck will be called Rev." https://www.motortrend.com/news/ram-1500-revolution-ev-pickup-truck-concept-first-look-review/ WTF is "Rev" for a name. I don't love Revolution but it's way better than Ram Rev or Ram 1500 Rev.
  18. Last time I went to an O'reily's for this they said they possibly could but for like 5-10 more per rotor, it's about the same to just replace them. This was probably 10-15 years ago at this point. I'm not even sure which vehicle this was on that I was asking about, lol. they also said most modern rotors are built so much thinner that there isn't much material they even could remove to still maintain spec.
  19. There's a real one the TFL guys have gotten to be around.
  20. Hahaha I could tell you accidently overlooked two letters in their garbage alphanumeric naming scheme.. Speaking of which, the fact that they're naming the SUV and sedan both EQS is awful. They're literally "EQS### Sedan" and "EQS### SUV". WTF Mercedes?!?
  21. Rooflines are probably almost identical. It's EVERYTHING in front of the damn windshield that's awful on the EQS### and what transforms the whole vehicle into a used bar of soap as opposed to just the roofline.
  22. While I would prefer a frunk, they did mention how large the trunk was so I guess it really isn't a big deal. But, I would still prefer one. I'd like a quick place to drop bags into a plastic tub and not worry about a potential mess. I can almost guarantee I'd use it more than the trunk itself. He said S580, not EQS580. The S Class doesn't look like a worn bar of soap, right? Way to show that fanboy card here. That is a whole other level of denial to act like its shape is anything other than a boring looking piece of worn bar soap. Like I said to @oldshurst442, smk said S580, not EQS580. He was comparing the not-bar-of-soap S Class's slipperiness to the EQS's bar-of-soap sliperiness.
  23. Exactly, they've done a phenomenal job of engineering the body on the S Class. I understand doing something different to differentiate the two but I think they...shouldn't have... The S Class has always looked great. There's no need to change the formula as much as they did.
  24. Yeah, I think the GM platform will do great. I guess maybe I have this feeling because there hasn't been anything that I've read about this yet. It's all just been a few images with dates and they haven't done anything revolutionary in...ever... I'm curious when this is supposed to actually go on sale and how that compares to when the next gen Lightning is supposedly supposed to go into production, Aug 2025.
  25. I believe this is a global product so it doesn't necessarily have to kill it here to still be a success. Price will certainly be an issue for buyers. EVs just cost way too much.
