  1. Without a doubt it would have been interesting!
  2. The only issue I do have actually is when I'm in a thread and try to go forward or back a page it won't actually load. It will go there but I ave to click refresh every time. Both my phone and Chrome on my work computer are like that. I didn't read through everything when I posted ^ that. I'll try and see if it's still doing that. Still did it on Chrome.
  3. Yeah... I know... lol I know my thoughts on it aren't very rational...
  4. Semi-off-topic.. I understand that it technically is but I hate how that's considered a hatchback. That along with the new Civic and whatever Audi has a "Sportback" trim as well. Yes, the back end opens up like a hatch but the shape just isn't stereotypical hatchback to me! Sorry, Rant: Over.
  5. I just had a small chat with a lady who works in IT and on the TV in the break room it had something about "the end of the car is near" and she asked what it was about and I said blah blah blah autonomous cars and people not driving themselves anymore. She then asked well who's going to drive them then? And I replied the computers. She laughed and said she works in IT and she doesn't even trust computers to do things, let alone drive her around. I thought that was a little comical and somebody might enjoy it.
  6. Hand guns kill more people than assault rifles.
  7. Even $100 a month sounded high to me.. By quite a bit. Unless the user is buying ties on a yearly basis, which would then make sense, if it's just our regular oil changes, filter changes, even if you added trans flushes once a year(which no company suggests as most are a sealed system now) you're still talking like $20 a month. Guestimating 3 oil changes($35 each), 2 tire rotations($20 each), and one $100 trans flush is just a tad over $20 a month. And you could mix and match that $100 trans flush to brakes or other miscellaneous things totaling $100. I could see on an older car where things are braking but at that point the vehicle should already be owned. People would and are interested but I think range anxiety is probably the biggest hold up. Then when they look into it(as an average joe family guy) and see they need to spend another $1000 to put a home charger in.. they get deterred. I'm in agreeance with everybody here that 20 years sounds too soon and I pray to sweet baby Jesus that it is too soon because I'd still like to be able to drive my own car in 20 years.
  8. Happy Birthday Mister Drew!! Hopefully you can set some time aside from your hectic schedule to just relax today.
  9. Alright, man. Whatever you wanna go with..
  10. But at that point it is no longer a savings as they'd be mainstream. That's just what it costs to run a vehicle, at that point. Until that point, I would think they would be pricing according to some of the savings.
  11. lol then they all do..in some way.. The sh!thead president has plenty to do with the auto industry... but we don't want to talk about his madness.
  12. Hey, do what you want to do but don't say one political figure doesn't matter and others do based on which political position said POS is in. They're all junk, is that surprising to you? "Hey this politician did something sh!tty" - Nobody surprised Just asking for some consistency from our leader.
  13. I think it's a decent idea.. but it also doesn't really seem fair to a "free market" that just because you built a more luxurious or overall better EV that it should be somewhat punished. Otherwise they could pop out 100 mile range $h! boxes for dirt cheap and that doesn't really help us much either. I don't think they all need to focus on more affordable EVs for the masses as long as the mainstream brands already are, which they are. They won't. Like you said, they will throw some of the savings into the price like companies do for anything that's "high efficiency" be it a refrigerator, windows, AC unit...
  14. So is President of the United States, Congressman, or Senator. Does that no longer make them a politician because it is their job title?
  15. Saying the “appointed idiot at the head of the U. S. Department of energy” isn’t political? That’s not some..politician..? It’s null depending on which side of the line you’re on. ..isn’t your Acura black..?
  16. I would not consider it an "ultimate marketing strategy" because it's what every auto maker does with their concept cars at shows. It's good, but not ultimate or ground breaking.
  17. So $7,500 -> $3,750-> $1,875(for those who don't want to math). I thought it was a tiered process. See, I still think that is a good idea. I don't think 7500 is necessary though. Drop it down to 5000, 2500, 1250. Plus, if this is a concern for you, you have 2 months to go buy your EV for a full $7500 tax credit!
  18. Absolutely. There are gas stations everywhere to fill up, no reason to make a big heavy gas tank taking up valuable space. *sarcasm(because it's tough to read that through internet words)* So in the next 18 months THAT much is going to change that was NEED this credit? Anybody find out if this was a step-down tax credit like I thought it was earlier? If so, it seems more necessary to ween people on but if it's a sudden cut-off anyway.. doesn't matter when if it's only a year to a year and a half away anyway. Also, you say "need" to happen sooner than later, why?
  19. So then what's the point? If its inevitably happening why subsidize it even longer? And why do we care what EV sales drop a little for? It's inevitable that they're coming. Other countries mandates on EV's and displacement are going to assure us we will be getting the same EV doses even if it isn't a 100% mandate like some countries/cities.If this was going to make EV's go away, I wouldn't want it but they're not going to go away from this tax credit that is close to running up anyway.
  20. I saw a minuscule 143 units. https://insideevs.com/monthly-plug-in-sales-scorecard/
  21. Because everybody uses roads... One individual drives their own car(or couple/family/etc). I have stated that gas tax could use an increase. With how little it's gone up and how much costs have increase, I understand that. I haven't opposed it, you just don't remember. I have said it a few times already, I'm not protesting or opposed to it, It just don't think it is as big of an issue as it is being made out to be.
  22. If my calculator fingers are correct GM has sold 158,063 plug in EV's through October 2017. Obviously this year is the biggest year with the Bolt and CT6(only 275 CT6's) and Volt going strong. So realistically, in about a year-year and a half GM will be out of theirs. I heard Tesla was even closer so I'll just guesstimate and say 8-10 months?
  23. How close are they now? I understand how that works but subsidizing 20% of somebody's personal vehicle? That's the Bolt, the Leaf would be almost 25%. Is that how civil society works, we help people buy cars? Now, an idea, maybe if it was a certain percentage up to a max dollar amount(so your 120k Tesla isn't getting like 20k in tax credits or some crazy sh!t)
  24. Did you have respect before? Politics have been corrupt and $h!ty since the beginning of time.
