  1. LOL Are you kidding me? They literally went after you for your Cadillac saying you should buy a Benz. That's almost offensive how they would target you like that. I do think it's funny that they know you have a CTS but no clue you buoght the biggest and baddest CTS and they're trying to put you in a 300hp E Class.. That isn't 650hp of badass. No thanks.
  2. See this is a good point in favor of the FWD luxury cars. Yes, yes, yes, wrong wheel drive and not sporty or near as athletic of a drive.. but FWD platforms offer more interior room. I honestly think the FWD platform luxury cars in the smaller/mid-size will compete very well on the interior space front. I brought up tat point a few months ago.. I should have started a thread about it but it was just a "random thought". Eventually the economy and car sales will level off and there won't be enough sales to convince people to buy all of these stupid, hideous variants( I'm talking about the X4s/GLE Coupes of the world). I'm legitimately worried they are going to bankrupt themselves by getting in so deep and then eventually there will be a form of halt in sales(economy slows to backs up at some point). I know I'm no economist but it honestly kind of scares me how MB and BMW are trying to put a vehicle in every little nook and cranny. Yeah, I have nothing invested with either company but they still employ thousands(?) of dealerships and employees within each dealer plus the plants that are here as well. So if they go under or have severe financial issues we're in deep $h! even though they're a foreign company. This is one reason I think what GM and Ford are doing is great. GM is platform sharing all over the place where if they had to cut a vehicle out because of an economic downturn it isn't a complete loss on the platform and obviously Ford is doing the same..even though Lincoln isn't..well..Cadillac. It's to a lesser extent but still a financial security blanket if $h! hits the fan again they can easily stop producing either Ford or Lincoln and still utilize the platform in the other brand. Audi and VW seem to have a similar(probably better) setup with their convertible platforms. Just my thoughts on that...
  3. It's one of the main reasons why I haven't even bothered looking at a Ford over the years. Just don't even want to be associated with the brand because of the rabid fanboyism. Yeah I feel like that with all of the D3 though. Ford, GM, or FCA. Heck, when I bought my Mach 1 over at MT I didn't post j bought a different car and nobody knew what I had for awhile and I still got called a fanboy of this or that. I think the only person I initially told was Olds actually. But I mean MB, Ford, GM, FCA... I really like what everybody offers now but the way ppl blindly talk about them is embarrassing for the brand, IMO, and I wouldn't want to be associated with those people. But there are those ppl for every make. One of my best friends is of the same but for VW. Good lord is that annoying at times.. I mean VW? Really? They make one legitimately very very good car, golf(and its variants) and that's about it. Everything else pretty well sucks, again, in my opinion.
  4. It sucks when the rabid fanboys make you dislike brands because they are so damn oblivious and ignorant about their favorites. It makes you want to just hate the brand, and for what? Because some D-bag on the Internet is ignorant? That's not fair. But that's how bad some people are.
  5. ..and Mercedes is slaughtering the equity they built through AMG as well.. Now everything is an AMG.. slap a badge on it and it's now an AMG. It sucks because my Euro car of choice is hands-down Mercedes. I love the AMG cars(former as now anything is an AMG) with their big ole V8s and their "who gives a crap about turning" characteristics of previous generations.
  6. Is it a picture of a guy holding a sign reading "MONEY" ? lol
  7. While I completely agree, we don't know that they aren't getting a form of "profit sharing" for the very good few years they've had. Like Walmart. All people see is X dollars/hr. but they never hear about the quarterly bonuses for having a good store with high scores in sales, customer appreciation, shrinkage, etc, etc. . That's for all employees, not just management. The store I worked at was typically between $200-600 and then there were quarters w/o a bonus and then quarters w/ ~$900 bonus.
  8. Completely agree. Well stated, sir.
  9. If it was marketed as a "sport sedan" I would completely agree, wrong wheel drive. But it isn't. It isn't a car to be driven aggressively therefore unless you're in the snow you'd never know which wheels are doing more work than the others.
  10. For $h!s sake bar mover. They don't need name changes. They need more variants and CUVs, of which you agree with not even three damn days ago. Pick a stance and stick with it. I think there is only 2 Mercedes with real names and both of them are work vehicles. Unimog. Sprinter. Yeah Cadillac needs names. THAT is their problem.
  11. Mercedes, duh. Because everything Mercedes is better than everything else. Period.
  12. I am willing to bet that sewing job was not performed on an assembly line. . And you think it makes it okay given that this was the car they chose to show the automotive world? Pre-production cars are just that... pre-production. There is a possibility of changes to the assembly process or the assembly process not even been fully developed yet. ALL manufacturers have pre-production cars that they use to show the public and press.....and all of them have flaws in assembly. I will never judge a car show debut car on assembly quality, ever. Sometimes the manufacturer let the Press drive these pre-production cars. Often times, they won't even have a VIN because they are due to be crushed after a certain time. The manufacturer will put a disclaimer sticker in the car somewhere indicating that it is pre-production... and yes.. there will be flaws. Once the actual production Continentals start rolling out, then we can have a looksee to judge. I understand that but I've seen a lot of preproduction cars and I think what makes this error obvious is the contrast from the stitching to the door panel color. Just looks way too obvious and it would bug me to no end. I would certainly hope this does not happen to a production model. It doesn't even phase me because it was likely done by hand in a design studio on a tight schedule. It really is a non-issue in a pre-production car. If Lincoln didn't have a recent issue with quality shortcomings on their stuff then I'd agree with you. But the fact remains that the MXZ's launch was delayed by quality shortcomings. When your track record is poor, you need to try that much harder. And I don't see that here, at all. First of all, I don't know how you people mess up quoting somebody. Second, you "don't see that here" because you wear the infamous General Motors blinders.
  13. Craptors? What cha talking about Willis? Canadian.. Toronto Raptors, I assume. lol
  14. You can't compare one dealership throwing a sale on X vehicle to another that isn't. That's ridiculous that you'd think that's a fair comparison. If all things being equal(in this example we're saying both products are the same) the customer will every single time go towards the dealer with the best service, nicest people, and cleanest building. Duh. I'm actually not even sure how one can argue that.
  15. I don't believe so. I don't want to sound all fan-boy-like but why in the hell so people buy their stuff, for the most part???? I know none of it is junk but it's all just about out classed by everything else because of how stagnant they let their stuff get. Their bread and butter Ram 1500 is actually just getting old at this point. The other two just seem so much better overall to me. The LX cars are still great and get excellent fuel economy for their size... only the Avalon beats them in my experience, but the Avalon has other downsides. The 200S and 200C are excellent as well as long as you're not shopping for cubic feet of passenger room. And even though the Journey is old, they've kept it fairly updated... it's the only vehicle of that size with a V6 (plus if you like the power, minus if you're looking for fuel economy) and it is one of the least expensive vehicles you can get with a 3rd row unless you go with a Mitsubishi. The 4-cylinder is meh, but there's nothing inherently bad about the car. The LX cars are just so...old... now though. Isn't everything around it at least 3-5 years newer? I know they just had a big refresh a year or so ago to make it look more modern(and they do look pretty dang good). The 200 is leaving. Journey is being compared to a Mitsubishi.. 'nuff said. Hahaha http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2009-nissan-murano-vs-ford-edge-dodge-journey-mazda-cx-7-and-hyundai-santa-fe-comparison-tests Back in 2009 they still had it ranked poorly! I'll admit, some of this is bias as the Journey is one of my least favorite vehicles ever, let alone still being made and sold. It's like a van with different doors. I feel like there was zero effort to give it any style or character. They just slapped the cross-like grill on a very standard shaped box. Yes, it's got space for days for the dollar but that's about it. At least that is the only selling point that I can see. Space:Dollar ratio is favorable.
  16. We're talking about luxury cars not Honda, Toyota, Chevy, Ford, or Dodge. Surreal has already said it but first dealerships are important and "Look how big and nice my Benz dealer is and how well they serve my vehicle and me" and now it's "You buy a car once and are at the dealer once. Dealer experience doesn't mean anything" This is the thing you get hell for. Double standards and being a tool. And Cadillac definitely DOES have the competing product to match the Germans. Better? Best? Debatable. But competitive? 100%.
  17. I'm wish both of you. But, I guarantee if somebody told me I could work from home I would jump at that opportunity like none other. That is why I've never invested into gym equipment for my home. People have asked me why not buy weights and stuff and workout at home or chit chatting with somebody about "fantasy life" where I could have any house (with a gym built in...) I'd still want to go to a gym, pay a membership fee. The part of changing and driving TO the gym is part of the routine and when I'm there I'm there for one reason, to work out.
  18. Yeah I understand that and would give more slack if it were a display car..on a podium with the doors open.. If this was on a closed door and somebody snagged a picture through one door to see the inside of the other I wouldn't mind as much as it clearly wasn't intended to be seen as much. Good insight, Drew.
  19. Congratulations, Brother!! Glad to know it wasn't some personal/family illness/issue.. Must just be the pessimist in me thinking if somebody is missing it is because of a problem not a promotion..
  20. I am willing to bet that sewing job was not performed on an assembly line. . And you think it makes it okay given that this was the car they chose to show the automotive world? Yeah, I gotta agree. Who "okays" that? I mean I would think there would have been a final "go over" on something that is being shown very very publicly that should have caught something like that.
  21. I doubt though that anyone is cross shopping a Buick with a Jaguar, with a few exceptions of course. This is aimed at Acura, Lexus, and Lincoln. You are absolutely correct. But does that make the Buick overpriced or the Jag a bargain ? (excluding their reliability because we agree that is an issue - out of warranty) I won't get into all that because I think most cars are overpriced these days. I agree that the motor is small for that price but most non-enthusiast buyers don't care and probably won't even notice such things as long as it does what they need it to do. lol I agree with everything being overpriced. Will 197hp be enough though? I mean this isn't a smaller, lighter CX-5. The premium-ness will add some weight as well. I really agree with Drew that they should have put something smaller and turbo'd in there to give the illusion of power by having a stout torque curve.
  22. 110% agree. I don't know why they're using it in their premium applications. I would also have to believe that they'd get better emissions(score/rating ?) out of the smaller turbo engine as well. Also, how ya been Drew??? I feel like I haven't heard from you in awhile? Busy at work, I assume?
