  1. Just stop. You didn't have the increase right and you are completely incapable of comparing apples to apples. The price increase is justified much in the same way Mercedes justified a $2K increase on the CLA barely one year after it came out (thus killing those wonderful "Get a Mercedes for less than $30K" ads) You have issues with the price no matter what because it doesn't have a Benz emblem on the hood. Stop pretending otherwise.
  2. This what happens when you use a mobile goal post. I'm done with the excuses. German cars are resale $h! after their leases run out and leases are the only way that the Germans can move a bulk of their cars here because no one wants a long term commitment with them for reasons already stated here. Back to the CLA beating Regal GS.
  3. False comparison since there isn't a Buick that sells for $80K+ new. The sheer precerntage drop on that car is mind boggling considering its "cache". It's why you probably got a smoking deal on your old E Class And again, GM does not have to justify its price to you when Drew pretty clearly laid out why the GS is priced just right against the competition. The new one is leaps and bounds better than the outgoing model so a price increase is to be expected, just like everyone else does when they put out a much better model, Benz included. This article is four years old but I don't see any Buicks but it is littered with German cars. https://www.google.com/amp/jalopnik.com/5982789/the-most-depreciated-cars-of-the-past-ten-years/amp
  4. How many more times do you want to be wrong today? The Regal is $2K LESS than the outgoing model and no longer has the Verano overlapping it. "It goes on sale in November with a starting price of $25,915, which is $2,000 less than the outgoing model. The lower starting price is to retain Verano buyers with the discontinuation of the lower-priced sedan." And those buyers you speak of are mostly leases because no one want the maintenance hassle and $h!ty residual values after two years. Fact
  5. Not to mention the German have $h!ty resale and then some. When I can pick up a 2008 S Class for $14K, that tells me all I need to know. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/ctd/d/mercedes-benz-class-dr/6227281584.html
  6. The current Regal is not E Class size (4 inches shorter) and you are making excuses because that Regal spanked that CLA. Since the Regal undercuts the smaller CLA by $7K, I guess that makes the CLA grossly overpriced yet not a peep from you on that. The GS is a top tier Regal (with a V6 regardless of your silly torque statement) and is cheaper than a top tier Lacrosse. By your logic I guess we can bitch about the CLA crossing the price line of the C Class. Sorry but your entire argument is just bogus. Good grief. Your arguments get to tired and old. I've made my point as has everyone else. Mercedes is not god and they far more overpriced than any Buick, end of story.
  7. You really want to talke price difference rip offs while touting Mercedes? Where did you get the wheels for your goalpost? I'm asking for a friend. BTW, the Regal now has three very distinct models and the $25K starting price was to get those Verano holdovers. It running up to $39K is small change compared to the 4Matic CLA, which while $4K cheaper, it also offers far less equipment and far less power (along with fewer cylinders). It is priced just fine across all three models when compared to the competition. And again, the current model Regal GS has already beat the CLA in the most recent comparos. How do you think it's going to work out for the CLA when the '18 GS comes out? I'd be embarrassed, quite frankly, with all that talk about the "Best or Nothing" when Benz is clearly not always the best.
  8. Funny thing is that I think the Maxima looks way better than the Q50 and the Regal looks far better (and with a hatch that is far more versatile) than both. I think I need to purchase my own set of goal posts too. Hopefully it has wheels on the bottom.
  9. You do understand that the Regal will start in the mid 20's right? Oh and Drew covered the other part of the problem.
  10. So just ignore all the other evidence when it doesn't support your GM slamming narrative. Got it.
  11. What is with your apples to oranges comparison? Only a platform is shared and it is also still within the same company, GM as opposed to your luxury car maker piggy backing off a mainstream truck (Nissan) when they already have a pick up in their stable, something you said they didn't have. Again, apples to freakin oranges. Understand the difference now? Not to sound like a dick, but context is your friend. Seriously. Again, that Buick that you say is not luxury, beat your Benz CLA in a recent comparo (and that is the soon to be gone Regal). Want to try that again or is it a case of the CLA not being luxury?
  12. Again, Mercedes had their own pick up, tons of R&D cash (by your own admission) and they took the cheap and easy way out. That is not the mark of a luxury car brand that markets itself as the "Best or nothing".
  13. This and then some. I just do not get the point of comparing cars that are all over the map, class wise.
  14. They are not competitors to an AWD car when the cars you mentioned lack AWD. "Hey I'm looking at this Accord and I really like it. Does it have AWD like the Regal GS? With all this snow, I need AWD. No? Well, thanks anyway" Do you see the problem with your assessment yet? Oh and a Chrysler 300 is a reskinned Charger. Your Malibu reference is just silly. When you have to use the rebadge argument, then you have already lost. The Regal and Malibu look nothing alike, they don't share a V6 and the Malibu does not have AWD. That's just for starters.
  15. And neither is optioned like the Regal. Neither has AWD and the Accord doesn't have a V6 with the new gen. It better be lighter when it is relying on four bangers to carry the load. The biggest thing here is that they are not in the same market. The Malibu is the competition for the Accord and Camry. The Regal competes with Lexus and Acura. Its really that simple. See Drew's explanation of you need further help as to why the Accord and Camry have nothing to do with the Regal. Oh and where are those new AWD 200s? The answer is nowhere (except for the 2016 holdovers they couldn't get rid of) because FCA gave up on them. We won't even get into the fact that the Regals interior is light years better than the 200. By all means though, keep comparing apples to oranges.
  16. This^^. A much more accurate comparison than comparing to cars it doesn't compete with, like the Accord or Camry.
  17. And you would think with Mercedes huge R&D budget (according to one source anyway), that they could have repurposed that chassis into an everyday pick up that doesn't share it's bones with an Asian mass market pick up.
  18. Wrong. Per Wikipedia: "The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a vehicle built by Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany as a van, chassis cab, minibus, and pickup truck" Those last two words are the most important btw. And Mercedes should really reconsider who they trade and with and what they trade for, in the future.
  19. This could also just be yet another excuse by Mercedes defenders. A mid-size truck for the world market is an easier and far cheaper investment, from scratch, than any EV car (and I'm an EV fan). Mercedes has truck chassis of their own to pick from but the "Best or nothing" company took the lazy route.
  20. Newsflash. Those three are supposed to be mass market as they are marketed to the masses. A luxury car maker trying to push a rebadged Nissan is another matter all together.
  21. Still ancient by today's standards and it doesn't change my original point one bit. It is a dressed up Nissan pretending to be premium. In fact, Benz has the stupidity to call it the first true premium pick up, which is a bold faced lie.
  22. Looks nothing like a Kia whatsoever and this has far more goodies in it than the Accord (which ditched the V6) or Camry (which is still dog ugly and has 40 less horsepower). It has also (over the years) been regarded as being just as reliable as those two. The Stinger doesn't even merit much of a response. It is a RWD sport cruiser with less cache than the Buick.
  23. File that under "big whoop" and that Cadillac engine just comes from a world beating Corvette. Yeah, sucks to be GM there. The bigger point here is that Benz is using an old bones Nissan (the platform has existed for years now so it being 2018 is irrelevant) and trying to pass it off as "premium" when it is far from it. If they are "The Best", like they advertise, then they could have used that massive R&D you like to crow about and actually come up with a pick up of their own.
  24. Just saying it is a matter of perspective and being that this coming from a Luxury car company, one can easily make the assumption that they are marketing the pick up much the same way.
  25. "What if" does not apply here because the current Frontier is what they are using and it is not "The Best" by any stretch of the imagination. It also has zero to do with them not selling it in the U.S. Other than if they did, it would be laughed out of this country in its current form. Could have, would have, should have but they didn't. That's what you don't get as a rabid Benz fanboy. Oh, and Ford is coming back to the market and I would take what they have coming over that overdressed Frontier. If If If You know what they say about "Ifs" right? And for the record, every negative thing you have said about the Escaclade being nothing more than a gussied up Tahoe, applies here tenfold. Actually depending on your perspective, they are selling as that, only they are calling it a "premium pick up" (per their website), which it is not. https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/mercedes-benz/vehicles/passenger-cars/x-class/mercedes-benz-concept-x-class/
