  1. The Caliber was Daimler era as well and was $h!, just like the PT ended up being.
  2. So f@#king what? Jesus. How many times do the simple things have to be explained to you? You act like Benz has never done such things but that would be an obvious lie. Don't worry, at least Benz is bringing yet another FWD four cylinder help in the form of the useless CLA lite, I mean A Class. That should help bring up the class (note obvious use of sarcasm here).
  3. No. You started off by praising them, i.e. your Crossfire example. Only after getting called out on it, did you change your tune. Oh and Pacifica was $h! and I have already covered the issues with the LX cars. Hell, the POS Intrepid and 300M had better interiors than the Charger/Magnum/300 that replaced them. Again, as a former owner of one of those cars, this is an argument you will not win with me.
  4. So you first say that Daimler helped out and now you backtrack and say something completely different, only after you got called out on the BS that was Daimler owning Chrysler. They updated nothing and left it to rot. For all of FCAs troubles with the brand (and there are many), they have at least kept the updates coming (like Drew pointed out) while Daimler literally did nothing after initial releases under them.
  5. Daimler gave them $h!. The Crossfire is a perfect example of this. It was a hand me down from the (at the time) previous gen SLK while the SLK got new bones, powertrains, etc. They did jack $h! to address the ancient engines being used like the POS 2.7L and the 3.5L (a better motor but woefully behind the times). As an eight year owner of an undercover E Class (3.5L Magnum), I know these things for a fact. The half assed the entire Dodge/Chrysler lineup with cheap interiors and very questionable plastic based parts. Daimler was even worse than FCA and that is suing something. My thoughts exactly but anything to excuse the BS Daimler has passed on to others is perfectly okay to some.
  6. I have driven it too and it is better than the GM 3.6L and the old Ford 3.5L doesn't compare in any way. The Honda V6 is nice but it restricted to a FWD borefest. The reason it didn't blow you away is because it was missing this on the hood. I also find it ironic that you bring up smaller motors as being superior yet you harp on and on about Benz and that worthless V12 that gets beat by smaller V8s. Hello there goalposts. I see you have moved again. Try staying a while this time.
  7. I defer to Drew's post because it covers that perfectly, how off base you are in your original post. BTW, the G Wagen is not the only MB example I can give and yes we are full aware of the Daimler hand me downs that trickled into Chrysler/Dodge cars. Daimler sure as hell has no room to talk about letting Chrysler/Dodge cars rot on the vine while they keep their own lineup fresh.
  8. "Old dated product" You mean like the G Wagon? ( and yes I know there is a new one coming out after forty years but my point stands) This also undercuts those you speak of by tens of thousands of dollars (in most cases).
  9. Way too much coin (yes I'm a cheapskate) but a damn nice ride.
  10. Funny. I feel the same way about the Civic. It has been around since the 70s but it is no longer the value leader. It is massively overpriced, reaching and (in some cases) surpassing midsize car prices. I see them everywhere and would opt for something different on that single premise. When it come to the type R, there is just not a chance in hell of me forking over $35K for a FWD four banger.
  11. Not a chance for me. I would never take any Civic over a new Mustang GT. There is literally nothing compelling about a $35K FWD compact car that would make me choose it over an equal priced V8 Stang, Camaro, or Challenger for that matter. To each their own though.
  12. Sometimes people say things to just say things, almost like they are "winging" it. Makes absolutely no sense.
  13. Yet they are only spending about as much on R&D for those years as GM. Funny math indeed. And the S Class most certainly has not been a full decade ahead of the pack. That's just MB fanboy talk. I would also like to add that they should not expect a profit increase when they are focusing so much on lower end models like the upcoming A Class. It has not squat to do with R&D.
  14. Guess I'm one of the few who likes the new front end better. Either way, the chrome is just too much and borderline tacky to me.
  15. Shameful.
  16. I will say this. I disagree with Willam about the Front end. I think it looks a million times better with a color matched grill than in chrome. Saw one in black at my shop, and it looked really sharp. The chrome is just too much IMO.
  17. Wait a minute. $60K and you're not even sitting on real leather? Just no.
  18. The GC is a more up to date is all I know. I think they could do AWD but as others have pointed out, cost may prohibit that from being a reality.
  19. But the Hellcat is putting down a lot more power than those were back then.
  20. Different architecture though with the GC so that could be part of the reason for the omission of it from the Challenger.
  21. Agreed but the problem may be having an AWD system that can handle 707HP.
  22. I have no doubt about it succeeding overseas. The US, however, is another matter entirely.
  23. And both of those were great cars (save for the 2.7L Magnum which was a pile of dog s***).
  24. I Iike it but there should not be any black plastic trim outside for $35K. I feel that is a big mistake on Buicks part.
