  1. You are correct on the V6 but they were offering the 4.6L on the entry level until very recently apparently. They haven’t offered the V6 in years. For YOUR truck. Doesn’t mean there weren’t others depending on the VIN. Still doesn’t change what I have said and I stand by it. Overall, both Toyota’s are reliable, end of story. Your one off anecdotal story about your one truck doesn’t change that.
  2. Fair point but my point is that most trucks are being sold on “sizzle” Instead of function, something the Tundra does not excel at since it hasn’t changed in eons. Now having said that, lets look at some those factors, starting with resale. According to KBB, the Tundra is tops there. https://www.kten.com/story/41657657/5-used-trucks-with-the-highest-resale-value Reliability? You can’t even begging to say that the Tundra isn’t reliable. As yes, it lags in power because it only offers two engine choices, which is dumb on Toyotas part. However, that 5.7L has more HP than the 5.3L which is a selling point for some buyers. The point is, that its not as bad as you think. Yes, it is dated, inside I and out. Yes, it needs more engine choices. However, it is still just a pick up truck, the same as the rest and would perform 100% of the time for 99% of the pick up buyers out there that don’t need a heavy duty truck. As this point though, Toyota either needs to get serious about the Tundra (if it wants it to survive) or just pull the plug and focus solely on the Tacoma. Just my two cents. Since you brought up recalls earlier though, here’s a comparison for you. 2020 Tundra vs 2020 F-150. Does it still matter?
  3. You misread what I said when I mentioned “disagreed”. You also know, as well I do, that recalls do not mean a car or truck is unreliable. Now, specific mechanical or powertrain failures or issues are one thing but thats not what is going on with the Tacoma. Your point is still flawed in that even when the average Toyota “isn’t”, it is still more reliable than most of the competition. The average buyer is loyal but not so loyal that they will continue to buy a product if its a pile of $h!. Just saying, I get that you don’t like Toyota but lets keep this grounded in reality, since the rest of this thread clearly went off into a black hole of historical nonsense.
  4. How “exciting” does a pick up need to be? It’s a damn pick up.
  5. Not disagreeing with your post but that was not reason for my reply to riviera. They made the statement that Tacoma sales were garbage like the Tundras when they are not, so much so that they sold double the number of Colorado’s last year despite the Colorado being the overall better truck. Brand loyalty 101, much like the F-150 and Silverado outselling RAM even when RAM has had the better truck at times. And sorry Balth, but I’m more than happy to show the sheer pile of twenty year old S-10s and first gen Colorado’s that turned to pure $h! since you seem to think that only the Tacoma should face that level of criticisms. Like them or not, they have earned their reputation for being solid trucks with a pretty healthy record in the reliability department. Their high resale values over the years back this up.
  6. Tundra sales are garbage and always have been. The Tacoma, however, continues to outsell the domestics. Not sure where you got the notion that Tacoma sales are bad. And good grief! What the hell happened on this thread? Sounds like a few folks need a bed and med check.
  7. Your side note is bunk. That BMW is $14K more than the Camaro and almost $20K more than the Stang. It better be faster. The BMW starts at $56K and for $8K more, a Camaro ZL1 smokes it 0-60. This is what happens when you constantly try to move the freakin bar. And that CT5-V is not the same V as what was in the previous gen CTS. You have been told this multiple times but again, that bar moving. The Blackwing CT5 that replaces the previous V high tier performance, is 650HP and will be available with a manual. Think that damn 3 series is going to touch that? No so all this BS about performance (that you had to create via that bar moving again) not being a strong suit of the domestics is pure uninformed bull$h! on your part. I don’t know why you have to keep being reminded of this but those are the facts. Just stop. And for the fifteenth time, this is about the Genesis G80. Here’s hoping it can compete in the long run with the overpriced and overhyped Germans.
  8. No every company does not need fleet to survive. And even at that price, it is lower than what you claimed earlier and again, that is not a fleet price. Fleet prices are cheaper for obvious reasons, a fact you chose to overlook. So the G80, which has already been stated to be an E Class competitor is also a CT5 competitor but the CT5 is not an E Class competitor? Again, this is why I take your statements seriously. The constant bar moving and revolving contradictions kill any agreement you are trying to make here.
  9. Again, you show your bias with your last sentence. The car isn’t even out yet, you haven’t even sat in one as a result much less driven it. And you wonder why you catch the hell you do?
  10. The cheapest E Class in Germany right now starts at $49K. When you factor in their fleet practice, then they are being sold for even cheaper than that. Keep trying to sugarcoat it but the E Class and C Class would not survive without those fleet sales and that is a simple statement of fact.
  11. To your first sentence, LMAO! The reason why they are chosen is because Mercedes aggressively whores them out, same as Ford did here back in the day with the Crown Vic. It’s a great indicator that they can’t move enough through the consumer market so they resort to aggressively marketing towards fleet sales. “Longest lasting”? Not even close.
  12. This isn’t “so called”. They are more reliable (on average) but the Kool Aid is strong with the German lovers. Case and point, your posts. And Cadillac has not left the segment. Not sure what you are smoking but I’d ask for a refund on it.
  13. Again, sidestepping the point here. Pretty sure your first sentence could be applied to 1950’s Mercedes in the U.S. See the problem yet?
  14. Again, you do nothing to help your argument whatsoever. Let me state it for you one more time. Despite Benz being in the market for fifty year prior to selling in the US, it took them almost another fifty years to be where they are today. Does it add up yet or do you want to sidestep the obvious again with some BS about their first super car (it wasn’t) and the supposed best car in the world, the 600 (also wasn’t)? The funny thing is that you somehow think that changes what actually happened with Benz from the 1950s to now.
  15. No it doesn’t and no you haven’t. You were shown hard proof of Mercedes decades long struggle and basically dismissed it because of where they are at now. (Looks at Mercedes half baked van offering now this horrid excuse for an S Slass and thinks SMK should reconsider his statement regarding the competition.)
  16. And yet again, applying rules that you don’t apply to everyone else (especially that last sentence). Why are all one brand fans the same? Thats a rhetorical question btw.
  17. Thanks for proving my point. Mercedes: The best or just copy someone else because their fans will just make excuses for it anyway or nothing.
  18. @smk4565—So now that a Mercedes, and a flagship Mercedes at that, looks like a Tesla on the inside and a dated Genesis on the outside, it’s okay and you’ll wait to see it in person? Funny how other cars, from other makes, don’t get the same leeway. Certainly you’ve never sat in a unreleased G80 yet seem to have plenty of negative judgement for it. Oh and in regards to your twenty pic deflection post, so what? Btw, the CTS became the CT5 so Cadillac hasn’t left the scene. Again, F Mercedes.
  19. All I heard were excuses for Benz while none are offered for Genesis even though, historically speaking, Genesis is off to a better start. That's a far better feat than Benz to when they didn't have fifty plus years of sales in their homeland to spearhead their sales elsewhere. What sales did Benz steal their first ten years in the U.S.? Hell, what are planning on stealing now? I ask that because below are spy shots of the upcoming Mercedes G80 (current gen. G80). I mean S Class. Sorry. That front end confused me a little bit.
  20. EXACTLY! He just 100% proved my point! It took Benz decades to make any kind of impression, sales wise, in this country but somehow companies like Lexus and now Genesis should have made immediate impacts despite the fact that the market is FAR more competitive now than it was when Mercedes first started selling in this country.
  21. Exactly but according to SMK, everyone has to succeed and outsell everyone else, right from the start because that Is how Benz did...oh wait.
  22. Talks about cars being priced wrong while Benz sells $60K A Class cars that are smaller than your average Honda Civic. Seriously. That poor bar gets a lot of work from you, what with all the moving but since you want to bring up Genesis and their dealer network as it relates to sales, I wonder how you would felt about Benz 55 years ago when they struggled even more when they entered the US market.
  23. You clearly did not read the article posted. It was just the lack of dealerships. It was the lack of inventory. Just stop the goal post moving. And for the love of god, STOP comparing a FOUR DOOR Kia (with a hatch) to Mustangs and Camaros. Same applies to comparing a Stinger to a Telluride. This simply not an apples to apples comparison in any way shape or form.
  24. “Bad dealer network” and not enough dealers are not the same thing. You pretty much confirmed that with your “ But what use is this warranty if they don’t have dealerships to service the cars.” Remark, which contradicts the rest of your post. Your Jaguar example is weak at best, as well because they are and always have been unreliable junk. Genesis, even in its short lifespan, has a much better track record in the reliability department. This is not even debatable. Oh and while their dealership count was cut almost in half, they are almost at that original count now (went down to 178 and is now at 318). Your “2/3” remark also supports my lack of network options. Stop contradicting yourself. Again, their lack of sales, aside from the CUV craze, is because of lack of dealerships, which you confirmed so I am not sure what point you are trying to make here but it fell flat. One last thing. The Stinger is another horrible example on your part and you’re only partially right about it. It was not ever a 3 series competitor since it was clearly LARGER than the BMW. As it was already pointed out to you, it was a 4 series competitor, although not really even that. It problem is like many others before. Wrong car at the wrong time. Furthermore, yes it is rumored to be cut after only one generation. However, it is also getting a revisions and more power for 2021 so the rumor you posted may be just that, a rumor. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/05/07/2021-kia-stinger-spy-photos/
  25. Why do you ignore the obvious? Besides the CUV craze, it’s biggest barrier to sales is dealer network. Do you honestly think Mercedes would sell worth a damn with the same number of dealerships as Genesis?
