Chevrolet News:Officially Official: Corvette Starts at $59,995
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
And they won’t. The dealership I worked at last year sure didn’t hesitate to take advantage of that practice with any hot model much less what’s going to happen when this comes out. Aside from what dealers will charge for this, it’s a miracle starting price considering everything that went in to it. My only concern will be if the quality will be there. Like it or not, Vettes have always been hit or miss when it comes to that and a first year mid-engine Vette may be no exception to this rule. We will see after a year or three. -
VW News: Forbidden Fruit: Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet

Like I said yesterday though, the Wrangler was a top optional truck from the start and actually ended up with better rollover protection than those rolling death traps of the sixties. Everyone else has tried to copy it and failed miserably.- 42 replies

VW News: Forbidden Fruit: Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
No one bought the Murano or the Evoque and with good reason. They are useless in convertible form. Exactly. In this day and age of “safety first”, those things wouldn’t even be allowed on the road today as new models. There was also the issue of what to do with certain tops and if you had the hard vinyl tops (that were on the old 80s model K5s and Broncos), then there was the issue of leaving them at home if you want to drive topless and praying to god that it didn’t rain on you while you were out and about or in a store. It’s simple logic why those failed and it’s even simpler logic why they don’t work in their current form today but some oxymorons have to troll just for the sake of trolling I guess.- 42 replies

VW News: Forbidden Fruit: Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
Wow! You only had to go back more than fifty years to show the last time trucks had drop tops. How many years did those last and why did they stop selling them? Oh that’s right. I already answered that smart ass. See the difference in what I’m talking and whatever point you’re trying to make? Do I need to get some crayons and draw it out for you?- 42 replies

VW News: Forbidden Fruit: Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
Big damn deal blu. Again, exception to the rule and quite honestly, that K-5 doesn’t pull it off that well either but at least the top doesn’t eat the cargo space, which if you actually READ my follow up post, you’d see why I think the crap made in the last decade or so are perfect examples of absolute waste. The tops retract into the back of these things thus killing the otherwise open and taller entry for cargo. Add in the extra weight and puny engines carrying them, and you have the perfect recipe of waste. That’s my point since you didn’t bother to read or understand my other posts regarding these monstrosities. Oh and those old K-5 drop tops might have been the thing back then but when people realized they liked being dry with the top up in the rain, they fell by the wayside. An old friend of mine had one years ago and it was a leak monster. Who’s the moron now ??- 42 replies

VW News: Forbidden Fruit: Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
The Wrangler is an exception to the rule. It was built as a convertible from day one as a two door. Crap like the Murano, the Evoque, and now this hideous thing look absolutely hideous. It adds unnecessary weight to already underpowered CUVs/SUVs and reduces the biggest selling point of them, cargo room. Convertibles belong on two door cars and two door cars alone (Wrangler not withstanding).- 42 replies

Not sure which gen GC your son has but the current generation of the GC is leaps and bounds better than the older ones (especially the late 90s/early 00s models). The Wrangler just has never been my thing. I’ve driven three different generations and they all have one thing in common. They are absolute back breakers everywhere short of the smoothest asphalt.
-
Yeah, not surprised here. For all the hype over the Wrangler over the decades, one thing had never changed. They are notoriously unreliable and now they are overpriced to boot. I understand why some folks defend them (for their off road prowess anyway), but you literally could not even give me one, even if it was brand new. Hopefully this fix helps those who paid way too much for it.

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG One Delayed
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
See dfelts post above outlining all the issues Mercedes is dealing with. And yes they are laughing because theirs is almost ready while Benz can’t figure out their own $h! so much so that they delayed it for two years while claiming “emissions problems” when that is clearly NOT the only issue. And the Valkyrie is using a Cosworth V12, not from AMG. -

Meanwhile Aston Martin is getting their seven chuckles over this while they ready their Hypercar for release. The One will be old news in 2021. It also appears that the One’s issues extend beyond simple emission restrictions hence the two year delay. https://carbuzz.com/news/aston-martin-is-laughing-at-mercedes-amg-s-latest-struggle -

Sorry but he is hitting that pipe pretty hard to make such assumptions, even by his fanboy standards. -

What superior hypercar? How about all the ones currently running said roads and not part of Daimler’s imagination right now, which is all the AMG One is right now. -

Again with the damn emissions comparisons. Let me say for you one more time. The Vette and Camaro don’t have $h! to worry about because they only need to meet US emissions guidelines. They have so little presence in Europe, that is does not matter that they don’t meet WLTP standards. The simple fact is that the One has more issues than just simple emissions of Benz is delaying it for two years (which by that time will make it old news). All of your fanboy defensive nonsense will not change those facts. See above post and stop deflecting. “Hey everyone! My vaporware car will run circles around any other car on the planet! Mercedes told me so it must be true! Fanboys rejoice!” Thats pretty much your defense and deflection in a nutshell. Yeah, I realized the autocorrect error a little too late to correct it to “cuts” instead of “cute” but it does make it funnier. -
Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG One Delayed
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
Your fandom is strong but your excuse is weak. Really? You use a standard that the C7 clearly doesn’t have to use as your excuse? Guess all those emission legal Vettes in US are just a sham huh? The new Vette certainly doesn’t have an emission problem so maybe it’s just Benz that can’t quite figure it out or maybe your comparison is bunk to begin with since Benz has to use EU standards to get on the road while the Vette does not since it originates here and sells the bulk of its cars here. Again that fandom clashes with simple logic. -

Figure it out? Really? Billions in fines for lying about diesels, model cute coming, billions lost in the past year, and you think they’ll just “figure it out”? Man you take blind fanboyism to the next level. In fairness the MB One can’t do corners right now either, at least not legally on the street unlike that Dodge you want to criticize. Don’t you get it ccap? If Mercedes can’t do it then no one can! All hail the mighty TriStar hood ornament! -
You may want to make sure you compare apples to oranges next time before you deflect from the fact that Benz, along with all the other German makes, lied to everyone.

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG One Delayed

Gee, maybe the best or nothing just can’t do it. Vaporware waste. -
Most of those clueless folks end up trading those in for a CUV with a real transmission, I’m willing to bet, when they realize that merging on the freeway or trying to pass someone is an exercise in futility. @Drew Dowdell-I’m thinking that it’s the opposite and that FWD models are the bigger sellers because they are far cheaper than their AWD models. Cheaper is the reason for the existence of the CVT anyway.

You really need to seek help and take some context and comprehension classes. There is only one rabid Benz fanboy and sure as hell isn’t you. You think way too highly of yourself to think that I was talking about you when the obvious fanboy already posted and that’s what started this whole discussion. Good lord man. Pay attention next time.
-
The fact is that sales are clearly in a state of flux and, rabid fanboy logic aside, no one in those companies should feel very comfortable about their situations. Month to mont for a lot of them have been just a roller coaster ride of instability. Up 19% one month, down 12% the next. Who knows right now?
