  1. My point was that even the Germans, especially Benz has been the playing value card with their sub-$30K cars and CUVs. Certain German car fans seem to think only Cadillac has to do that to succeed when that is clearly not the case. Cadillacs value plan though seems to be a better one. Now if they’ll just stick with it and execute it, then they will be okay.
  2. Literally not the point I was making as you have sidestepped it completely. My point is that BOTH companies are playing a value strategy only Cadillacs plan seems to be a better one. I just love how you completely missed the fact that Benz is also playing the value card and has for years now.
  3. That literally has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. At a lower price point, it gets priced with the lower end model A Class which is Mercedes value priced luxury car. Same formula only the Cadillac comes on the better end of it.
  4. Same here. The size wouldn’t work for me but overall it seems to be a nice package for folks looking at that class of car. You mean like what Benz did when they began selling cars like the CLA, GLA, and A Class? Yes, smart move.
  5. The trunk area is still a visual disaster but overall, it’s a nice looking ride.
  6. “Most successful” but routinely outsold by said Tesla S over the last year or two.
  7. My words exactly. All I’ve heard for the past year is constant Benz EV hype (which normally comes up when a competitor has released and ACTUAL product) and here we are with yet another Daimler concept that’ll be out in “two years” that will look nothing like the concept shown. All hype, no substance.
  8. The Tesla and Porsche are today products while the EQ is still a concept. Easy to beat someone in concept.
  9. I’ll give credit where credit it due. At least Land Rover stayed true to its SUV roots with the Defender and gave a two door as an option. Now about that reliability and pricey parts...
  10. I was being a little “tongue in cheek” with SMK previous quote basically saying that Tesla was on notice products like the Benz EQ. They (Tesla) appear to have nothing to worry about, for now.
  11. (As the chain flew off from backpedaling so fast). Why just the other day it was "Mercedes EQ S debut next week so then there will be 3 and more will follow." Guess we are still waiting on those other three because this one is "meh".
  12. So other than some strong torque numbers, nothing special from Benz that doesn’t even go as far on EV only power as a Volt. This is what we were waiting for? And I’m with dfelt on the combo transmission/electric motor combo. Holy maintenance hell Batman!
  13. Those being limited trim models are irrelevant. They were all part of the same craze of getting the biggest gas hogging SUV out there until gas went through the roof. Just a different breed of lemmings IMO.
  14. I think it’s only fair to point out that those SUVs you mention were part of the lemming herd 10-15 years ago (the everything SUV craze). Just sayin’. And I would still take it over any SUV or wannabe SUV out there today. Absolutely bulletproof. Which falls in line with the competition while managing to outsell said competition. I get the hate for it but clearly Toyota is doing something right here.
  15. Google built into any car or truck? Yeah, I'm stepping far away from that non-sense.
  16. It is simply astounding that the RAV4 is putting out full size pick up type numbers.
  17. Probably you. ? Now show me any part of what I said that wasn’t the truth. At least I try to troll with facts.
  18. So much talk about electrics on a "random thoughts" thread. Shhhh...better be careful folks.?
  19. "Business is booming over at Mercedes". -Lost billions recently -Cutting models -Still down for the year -One really good month (only when compared to the crap month a year ago) Maybe that good month is because of firesafe lease offers like these. https://www.mbusa.com/en/special-offers Naaaaah. Couldn't be that. Maybe this is proof that there are semi-professional fluffers out there for Mercedes. There is a certain irony brining up Q50s as rental cars when...
  20. I understand and can relate to that 100%.
  21. Have you ever heard the expression "time is money". I believe that is what Drew is getting at while you accuse him of being "grumpy". Edit: Disregard as I just saw that Drew covered the "time is money" aspect. Carry on lol.
  22. So I’ll reference my first post then lol. “I’m sure those three future owners of them will be very happy...for the first 50,000 miles anyway.“
  23. The price will definitely be a problem (as well as being four door only) and I think it’s abilities are being a bit overstated. Most of them never see anything even resembling a rock. They’ve just become status symbols for folks who like to pretend that they are rugged or “outdoor adventurers”. There are exceptions out there, of course, but overall it’s the truth IMO.
  24. I’m sure those three future owners of them will be very happy...for the first 50,000 miles anyway.
