  1. Well, I'm not one for 'critical' design analysis. I just say what looks what to me. And this is what I like about the XJ's looks "Those sleek headlights are a highlight, as is the seamless transition from the sloping roofline to the rear windshield and again to the trunklid that rises to meet it. Sure, rear visibility with a high trunklid isn’t very good, but that trunklid is part of a memorable exterior design." Though I would still BUY the CT6 before anything else in this class of vehicle. And the XJ is not by any means generic. It's PURE Jaguar Sexifulll styling. It is a true flagship in terms of its interior as well. The Cadillac is nice...again, I would put my money on it. But it's not an advancement of Art and Science. It's just a larger CTS on the outside. Besides. The I don't want to get into a debate over lines and creases. If you have a clean look, it's called bland. If you add too many like Lexus it's an abomination. If you add a little, it's called generic or derivative. Dammit.
  2. Well, price isn't something to consider, but then again, I would rather Cadillac be the one to get over the luxury interior hump, and then be the one charging $15k more than Lexus or any other competitor.
  3. If it makes you feel any better this was the CTS interior just one model year prior. The Lexus interior was not without faults. But I think out of all of them, it was the cleanest looking. Yeah some may call it surgical, but ehhh....this just the interior. The rest of the GS was just a comfy luxo cruiser that happened to be RWD, nothing more.
  4. Ehhh... the CT6 I guess number 2 in terms of sexiness. Okay, I'll deem it sexy IMO. But look at the Jag man. It ain't reliable. But it's lickable, voluptuous, one purty kitty. Funny you call it weirdly proportioned. $h! man, even I admit I'm a General Moron (in fact, I am a "Sir" General Moron, but do you really have to try to beat me at it?!!
  5. I wouldn't say the CT6 is sexy. I like the way it looks, but it just doesn't measure up to the Jaguar XJ in terms of looks. But it does beat anything from Audi or BMW in looks. The interior is great for the price, but NOT worthy of what I would expect a top of the line Cadillac to be. With the CT8 in the wind....we'll see where they go next. If they had used the black mesh grille from the concepts and a smaller crest it'd easily look $10,000 more expensive. Seriously. I would say an S-Class is not a car they people would think is "sexy" than "elegant" so I would exclude it from that kind of comparison.
  6. They have their game face on. One thing, will it be more expensive than the GS? Because if it's a hard core track car, and it shares the LT1, yet costs more... and it gets rid of the rear seats....interesting times.
  7. Too many auto pundits credit Mercedes for being the ones to make the 4-door coupe thing tho.
  8. Well, it`s a really nice interior. I`ve spent plenty of seat time in Lexus cars from before this decade, and they were probably the last few where it was pretty clear from a fit perspective you could not find a single seam out of place in Lexus interiors. And this Navi setup shared with Toyota was way ahead of Command or iDrive at the time. And I like the brushed metal look of the guage faces.
  9. Benz redid the E-Class for 2010. We can all go into the past to find newer cars that match or exceed the interior quality either in fit, finish or materials, or all of them all at once. But I will say, it`s only recently I think I have even liked Benz interiors. I liked the Cadillac V interiors because you could get the saffron seat inserts. But for a luxury sedan at that time, I would probably say I like the Lexus GS interior the most. It was quite simple and straightforward.
  10. I saw a Grey Stingray, Grey GT350R and a Grey CTS-V all at the same stoplight recently. It was heavenly.
  11. well... the i8 is a concept car. But yeah, Mercedes if you want German luxury, or Cadillac if you want true performance.
  12. I'm not saying they should not continue the car. But you can't go ham over fist trying to enter or remain in every segment. Clearly the Verano is no longer the Buick it needs to be. If they redid it, it would just gouge sales out of the Regal. Or the Regal will remain a smaller, more nimbler car than the Malibu.
  13. Random thing - ...I was watching Tesla stock when it was hovering at like $30-35 per share. This was after the IPO, but before their infamous DOE loan repayment. They were doing crazy things even back then in 2010. But I thought for a moment. They want to pay off their DOE loans quickly, I thought. So predictably, they had their IPO, but something in their prospectus must have really riled potential investors at the time. I was ornering people (and I was to say the least, not nearly sophisticated with the finances, being really just a kid) to buy Tesla stock. Everyone I could, buy it now, I think they're gonna do something to shock potential investors. Now the stock was priced at $17 per share in the initial offering. They raised a rather mundane but not insignificant $228 million dollars. But the way they paid off their loans in one lump sum, and then how they rocked the world with the Model S....their share price started to skyrocket. It was a firmly held belief at the time that the company had a winning product, and I think there may have been some overly high optimism, largely because no one had a recent example of how the consolidation in the industry, between the OEMs, the integration with suppliers has made it so difficult to become a mainstream, blue-chip automaker. I think Tesla as a name is too valuable. I can easily imagine if Tesla goes belly up there's going to be plenty of scavengers wanting an excellent deal. Though I wonder what kind of leverage anyone has on Tesla. The company has already made the majority of its IP public. It has nothing to lose by toughing it out. It's largest equity holder is the highest executive, and he continues to take the heat from not only the industry, but every time there are more offerings of ownership, he takes a big hit, and then put his own money on the line to repurchase shares at absurd prices.
  14. Normally I'd be like... boosted four cylinder in a Wrangler....NEVARRRR!!! But if some guy from Ferrari, becuz Sergio put the head of Ferrari powertrains to be head of Alfa powertrains....jeezus, Ferrari engines in a Jeep? A Wrangler of them all? Why not?!!!
  15. Headshot
  16. Yeah, but you look at the cars taking hits - they're all A5 and above, so basically the premium sedans. Also, the TT. From 2 sold this time last year to a whopping 303. That's like the number of Fiat 500s sold each month.
  17. It's nice to have a V12....but I kinda think that if Bentley feels like putting V8s in their behemoth, cruiser-class cruisers...I think a force-fed V8 can do a lot in even a heavy as hell Escalade.
  18. Almost all luxury car makers are doing kinda lacklustre recently in their sales figures.
  19. Uhhh... question? What is this thread about again?
  20. Compared to the outgoing Cruze, the Verano was actually quite luxo for itself. I don't think there is much of a competing vehicle, in terms of price point. It also has the Bose Quiet-tuning, so it's a supremely Buick kinda car. I'm just going off some of the reviews for the loaded Cruze Premiers - apparently they are really quiet and also have all the advanced safety and mobile infotainment tech. I dunno.. The last gen Cruze only had one real strength - it was fairly quiet, substantial (because it was really heavy)...but nothing else was that exceptional. It was a bigger car than most on the outside but the rear seats were cramped for the exterior size. The new Cruze is way better packaged. The Verano has a great interior plus had the advanced lighting options, and the 2.0T turbo motor. It seems like to me Chevy is going to have a more powerful version of the Cruze. I actually think you could get a Verano still on the lots for quite a bit less than a new loaded premier Cruze. But the new interior option - especially the Brown interior really spices it up
  21. 48 Volt systems and electric turbos are on the horizon.
  22. The new Cruze kinda does everything the Buick Verano does well, for less money and while being more efficient. It does not have the 2.0T, but I figure even that was not much of a reason why people got the Verano.
