  1. the styling is an issue from some angles, the original CTS had a sports sedan look. It even lacked the upright rear lights that Caddy keeps foisting on the world. It looked lean and purposeful. The 08 CTS got porky looking but still had some sleekness to it. Now Caddy tried to copy the long hood / short greenhouse windhshield too far back / 'hey i'm a rear drive car' look this go round and then mated a very disconnected looking grille to the front. It has no sportiness compared to the original CTS and it looks like its meant for older people than the last CTS. I think Caddy either needs to completely change the character line on the side of the car, or make the front fonder flares more distinct, articulated, whatever....the car lacks shoulders....... The overall 3 box proportions of this latest CTS don't match the last two, you can't make a visual connection between them. The new CTS maybe should have been called STS......... Most of the interior is pretty good on the new CTS, i think they can get it tweaked where it needs to be. The pricing and option packaging is a problem. Heated seats should be standard on a CTS. Heated / cooled as an option, rear heated seats option.
  2. That engine makes all the difference ! The 1.8 is very good, the 2.5 was a boat anchor!
  3. Cadillac only has one crossover. The SRX. The Escalade is an SUV .....as are the suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon. If they had 3 or 4, their sales would be a lot more. Look at all the lux marques.....the percent of crossover sales vs sedans.....
  4. Cruze is ok sized inside for a compact but by no means is big enough inside to be a family sedan.
  5. Impala now only has 4 cylinder base engine with about 200hp for the same price as a Taurus with like 270hp v6. Or, i can do an ecoboost 4 upgrade for mpg on the Taurus and it only hits me 1k. (Reality is best pricing will have more discount on the 4 cylinder Taurus). Impala should let the 2.0 turbo into the stable, and they need to adjust their product mix to the stores for units less loaded up and with lower prices. They should run some kick ass lease deals on the Impala. Malibu should be the fleet heavy car now. Until they fix the small back seat and overall get a new one out, they will have to do whatever it takes to move that one. I still believe you can't jump straight from Cruze to Impala. Ford has the Focus, Fusion, and then Taurus. Its just that lots of shoppers find two huge defects comparing the Fusion and Malibu, one is the back seat, two is the ugliness factor (I don't happen to think the Malibu is ugly but i believe many others don't care for it). A friend has either a 13 or 14 Malibu work vehicle and he likes it a lot actually.
  6. I give Chrysler props for selling the $h! out of a lineup of lemons. The new Jeep products and the 200 are coming on line and finally the Dart has room in the showroom with dirt cheap Avengers going away. Let me give you an example. You can buy a new Dodge Journey FWD six cylinder for not much more than 20g best priced these days. Think about that for a bit, especially compared to an Edge, Escape, Equinox, Terrain, etc. And that's with an 8.4 inch touchscreen. Chrysler is whoring out the old models. How in the hell can compass and patriROT continue to sell? Look at the Ram pickup! And it makes you wonder why GM can't achieve these sales gains. WTF is up with the 500L though......did they already pull it from the market or did really no one want it? I would drive one for free as long as nobody saw me driving it.
  7. Adding the Mirage boosts volume. Outlander Sport is really ramping up. I like that rig, wish it had a different motor and reclinable back seats though.
  8. take away the CLA and they are about flat. Look at the big percentage of their sales, its crossovers.
  9. lotsa punks got credit to lease finally last month i see
  10. Tiguan is not packaged right and the Touareg is overpriced. Plus, no three row. VW is not in the crossover game and its apparent now that its hurting sales.
  11. I think we've hit a critical mass point where people want to buy crossovers first, but if they don't have the coin, or just want a smaller vehicle, then they will get a sedan. Most often small or midsize. Many of these cheaper cars are dependent on cheap lease support. Basically, GM needs more crossovers. Cadillac in particular needs 2 or 3 more. Chevy needs the Trax to arrive ASAP. They should drop the price on the impala.
  12. thank you. GM hasn't had spacious cars for many years now.......with a tiny few exceptions.
  13. well, these pictures are better than the Previous ones. It looks alright, but I think it looks a little generic, dated, and really not at all ground breaking. I mean, this is 2010 stuff here. Drew is spot on, it really is Captiva 2.0 or something. The Encore is so bold and striking, and this.........isn't........ Yes, the interior is nice. Wonder if this forecasts any of future sedan interiors. While this is 'alright', it doesn't outduel the Terrain or Equinox by much, and Linclon's new MKC is pretty impressive. Also not sure if this is dead set in the middle inbetween the Encore and Enclave. My fear is there will not be much spread between the Encore and this. It does fill another gap for Buick however, which is alright. Now please, 3 door Astra hot hatch please.
  14. If the looks had been compromised that's one thing. But this looks just as good. Maybe even a bit more balanced looking.
  15. Do it GM! http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/201407/2015-cadillac-ats-l_1600x0w.jpg
  16. ATS will need over the upcoming years New dash / interior and new CUE Something diesel AWD with MT, this would help the MT take rate immensely 2.0 base turbo and an improved 2.0 +/- optional forced induction motor 8 sp tranny 3.0 tt v6 to replace the 3.6 3.6 tt in a higher level sport model I wouldn't put a v8 in the car. Make the ATS-L mods to the sedan so people who like the car but want leg room in back have a choice and don't have to buy elsewhere. Focus more on sporting models and less on decking out with lux options, leave this to C T S
  17. Horse, yes VW would rather sell Beetles. First of all, the beetle line sold over 40k last year. Not at all niche. VW's entire brand history is based off the Beetle and it's far more charismatic in America than the Golf. VW even tried to rid the Golf name from our soil (Rabbit redux). The Beetle was remade to precisely provide appeal as the 2 door coupe/hatch here because no one wants a 2 door Golf. Side by side in the showroom, the 2 door golf can't compete vs a Beetle. With four doors, the Jetta creams the golf hatch. The only thing that keeps the Golf afloat is the GTI as far as keeping it in the news. We're lucky actually to get this new version with the new one hitting in 17. I think VW would bail on the Golf if not for the interest in the Focus and Mazda 3 hatches. If this were GM they'd let the previous version wither on the vine a few more years. VW has a problem, they have this paradox where they want to make one car or platform all over, but then we have 2 world Passats simultaneously on different platforms. I think VW seems to have weird behavior these days with their market planning. Aggressive but not at all executed well.
  18. Wow that body color cladding down low is terrible. 1994 called and wants their plastiparts back. At least it's not hideous like a Pathfinder.
  19. Terrible. Reeks of Chinese bland outside. The inside is nicer. Shape looks dated. Stretched toureg with a Volvo grille mashed on it.
  20. VW would rather sell Beetles here.
  21. yup Well, they aren't FWD family sedans... buyers of these cars are often single or DINKs, so they don't need a lot of rear seat space. bad call, everybody likes room. why shut out part of the buyers? ATS could very well be a daily driver choice for me, except the rear legroom is 99% deal breaker. Starving the ATS of legroom here hasn't helped CTS sales and the ATS prices are ridiculous low and still don't sell. The fact that Caddy would even consider a smaller model is insane.
  22. Ram trucks have a good rep these days, and a tough rep. I have 2 people i know well who ditched other brands to go to Ram. One was a Chevy truck lifer. Didn't like the new Chevy's. I think Chevy erred badly on the styling of their new trucks. Not man enough.
  23. that will be a good marketing angle for them.
  24. http://www.carnewschina.com/2014/08/18/cadillac-ats-l-hits-the-china-car-market/ You can bet part of the ATS struggles in this market is because there is a very tough and small backseat. This is the solution. Most folks can't spot the diff.....
