  1. Blu, did your Cruze LT have disc brakes and Z link? It seems the 2014 Cruze LT1's have drum brakes and non z link now. That was what separated them from the Ecos.
  2. I'm going to reread this topic later tonight. I've been seeing lots of good deals on LT1 manuals and have to admit it is getting tempting. Can't see why the Eco is so much more dough.
  3. Passat S curb weight is like 3200 pounds.
  4. Heavy too heavy, but even the cruze can get porky. Dart's major weaknesses are it's new era Neon looks, tight rear, confused power train options. The cruze and focus are killing this car as is the deeply discounted avengers and 200's within chrysler's own stable.
  5. Last fit I drove was loud, lacked torque , and ran like 3500 rpm on the highway. I do like the redo, but I would probably look at the cvt here. Much less rpm at 75 mph cruise. Magic seat is amazing. In the end, Hondas usually still feel cheap and tinny to me.
  6. I think its gotten to the point where a lot of these recalls are due to the federal govt wishing to flex their muscles and justify their reach and why they exist.
  7. i actually like the stepless feel of the regular CVT as long as it is a quick responder. it would be nice to have a switch for stepped or stepless.
  8. SRX needs to become MKX sized and on a more sophisticated platform, and then add another smaller crossover. escalade is a premier product , it's what people aspire to, so no need for lambdas. ATS for all it's goodness does suffer from almost non existent back seat. I think that is what is killing it in our market. Also the interior already has a dated feel. Cadillac has not developed a lease strategy to in stealth fashion hook first timers into the fold with cheap leases. Plus they do not seem to be marketing the car. What they ought to do is concentrate less on fully loaded versions and just build the ATS to a not too steep price class and just try to get intros into to the brand. One item besides the v that caddy needs is a trim for all wheel drive turbo manual. Quattro is what sells Audi. I would also even say we need Cadillac diesels. An ATS. And maybe even a CTS. On the ATS too even though I think the 2.5 is ok for the starter trim really they should consider dropping it and maybe just putting a detuned 2.0 turbo in the base model.. Not a lot of CTS or ATS around here of the new versions. Funny, the Buick regal seems to do quite well.....lots of XTS too....
  9. family midsize segment can't exceed 4 years seemingly. look at sonata. breakthough product in 2011 and now for 2015 they are modifying it into a turd. current malibu should not exceed 4 years. It needs to increase in size to sonata / fusion / passat / optima size.
  10. nowadays I think 4 years for a body style is about right. i think interior updates are needed continually. platforms are more fuzzy. You can swap powertrains, but still have the same platform. You can do a new body on an existing platform. Basics are that the car buying population and general public sort of sees a design lose its fresh, faster these days. Most leases are 3 year. If you can catch people close to matching the lease / buy cycle with body style changes that is probably ok.
  11. Not a FCA fan here ......we should have saved Pontiac and Saturn Durango might be an ok drive but it sure is dull inside and out I think I'd trust vw before Chrysler
  12. they sort of lost their base when the S80 lost interest and the wagons went away and their large crossover is ten years old. Plus they fell off the map with their marketing and advertising and I think a chunk of the population forgot about them.
  13. Altima is one of the cheap lease kings. They whore them out on cheap low money down and sign and drive stuff. BUt someone I know, kept re-leasing a new Altima every two or three years, no issues, just kept turning in keys and getting a new one. I know Ford makes leasing easy. GM still doesn't have a lot of models they really go to the mat and lease cheap to start.
  14. yes, people want CUV's.! There should be a Voltec Malibu, Cruze, Equinox, Trax in market now.
  15. I like the car, but i still think Acura CL coupe or Honda Civic coupe meets G6 coupe when I see this thing. Maybe I could swipe a new emblem off the hood of one of these and put it on my G6 coupe grille and have the same effect. there is drama missing in the rear flanks, and the c pillar is a bit sparse...... same dash as the sedan, too. they should have change that up too.
  16. Spark EV seems more remarkable to me. Really, the Volt is the way to go. Chevy needs to get a 25k Volt to market and then work on building volume with their system.
  17. Still lotsa holdover 13 regals out there .....selling for almost less than a loaded Cruze
  18. it was nice enough, but to me had some things to work on yet. http://www.cheersandgears.com/topic/80394-2013-nissan-altima-sv/
  19. here's another one for you it will pain to agree on. A mitsubishi Lancer is more fun to drive. The Mirage, probably not. The lancer, yes
  20. what should have killed were the Dodge and Chrysler brands, not Saturn and Pontiac. Fiat itself should be dead too FTM
  21. my sx4's were way better to drive than the old versas. even. sad. good luck nissan. 109hp 107 torque yeah baby
  22. previous versas were scary to drive. sloppy handling, crap suspension. lotsa room though. Seems improved, but not enough to stand out and with the new Fit coming, this won't make waves, it will sell on price alone.
