LEAVE THE THIRD GEN CAMARO OUT OF THIS - I really want one to put away for safe keeping. I love those cars. Sadly, they do have the rep though...not as bad to me as the 5.0 Mustangs of the late 80's early 90's (Vanilla Ice anyone?) For me, around here, it is a strong tie between the Ford Aerostar/Windstar vans and the Crown Vic/Mercury twins - late 80's through - NOW! And the other side of the tie belongs to the Chevrolet Astro/Safari and Caprices...those 4 basic bodies run around through the trailer courts and projects around here in droves. And the LX cars (pre rwd!!!) Lots of them rusting on the street as we speak. Regardless of the make and model - don't you just want to pull them over and wash the windows in these WT cars? When the world is blurry due to the nicotine on the windows...wash them!

Finally! An answer to the WHAT THE F^&(! is that question I have been asking since I have spotted this truck in Cedar Rapids at least three times and have been unable to 'badge it'! Wow! I bet that thing would sell thy the ton...if there are that many idiots buying the Tundra every month - how many would buy a cheap little trucklet that gets good mileage and has utility??? Not the prettiest belle of the ball, but still a neat little alternative to a Japanese product!
-
the tan is great! Will SUNDWN work as a plate in Canada? Or EDMNFTZ ? That would be a great car, not a barn burner in the performance realm...but if Gordon 'throws a rod' and kicks the bucket while you own it, you may be hitting the lotto!

Keep it shiney side up and stay safe - Love the color and that mean looking face on that bike - sweet. This may be a stupid question, but did you look at a BMW bike at all? They usually have EXTREMELY low payments, are great on gas, and have a plethora of safety equipment standard - I thought ABS on a bike? WHY? Until I rode it. Best bikes I ever owned. And your 5-er is sweet...probably on a first name basis with a mechanic somewhere, but the drive!!!

poetry - I googled it - pretty obscure song...so I will not spoil it. Great group though!

BMW and GM have had hydrogen cars in the fleets for a while now...just have not sold any yet. The Honda System, as well as the GM home system, are the greatest things I have seen modern man come up with since the breast implant. Seriously, I WANT this technology now, at my house, and getting me as close as possible to be off the grid. This home system makes so much sense it is pathetic, with the only shortcoming being a long roadtrip...which I guess can be overcome by simply renting a conventional car for the times you would be out of range of a Hydrogen fuelling station. Folks, we are on the cusp of something great, and I for one, cannot wait.

I did see that. In fact it has been plastered all over MSN all morning. Funny, the articles that I read did not mention GM trucks at all, even though they are standard with ESC and side bags and curtains are optional. Seems funny that the IIHS tests and awards picks based on cars with ESC, and then decides to forgo testing the nation's # 1 sellers. Why? And how does a truck that gets 4 stars in all other tests suddenly score so high in a tougher test? Don't get me wrong - I am glad to see that it is safe and that automakers are making so many safe cars in the market, but GM is barely mentioned in this story - and Toyota suddenly makes big news. And where are the Lambda crossovers in this test? Those are standard with ESC and side curtains.

But will the Sequoia still carry the Turdra's Best Evar 4-star crash rating? If the lighter pick-up with the same drive train cannot achieve the fuel numbers that they quoted in the article, how in the F*^k will the HEAVIER Sequoia do it? Sombody want to explain that one to me? [Careful here Toyota - Dodge has a lot of people pissed about the actual versus EPA numbers of the trucks not being what was promised!!! (See Commander, Durango, Charger)] This little factoid really has me curious. I really want to know how this is being achieved, and if they can do it with the heavy tree, they should be doing even better with the Turdra. Next: Will the body structure on the Sequoia crack due to flex? Let's face it, they slapped a SUV body on the flimsy truck frame...so will it do what the truck does and dance it's ass off? I do wish my Tahoe had the fold flat seats. About the only thing this thing has over my truck.

but do not get me wrong...I am weighing the Buick Enclave versus the Tahoe Hybrid for my next truck. If the family buys a motorhome, then I do not need the Tahoe to tow my car trailer and I will probably opt for the Enclave or Acadia. I know that those are strange cross-shops, but I love the look of the Tahoe over the others, and the Buick is just stunning. Hoping for a Super version of that by the time I am in the market again.

from what I understand about these is that they are pretty loaded and will include navigation and the hybrid monitor. My 2007 Tahoe LT3 stickered at $52,900 - so I could essentially trade my truck in for a hybrid for almost the same money as I paid for the NON-hybrid. It is almost like they are giving the Hybrid away for free! Seriously, that is not big money for a fully loaded Tahoe with the MPG returns these things are trumpeting. I will be a client when the opportunity arrises. The odd part is this: You will not be able to order a Tahoe Hybrid like you can the standard trucks. They are being built and then put into a 'pool' that dealers will be able to pull from when they have a buyer for a unit that is close to what is in the pool. I understand from what I have heard that they will all be pretty much loaded trucks with the main choices being 2 or 4wd and color. I cannot wait.

HEY!!! Shredded Wheat can be VERY exciting when it hits you just after you passed the "Next Rest Stop 30 Miles" sign! And you guys who said the front looks pinched on the G8...I see it now as well. Hope it is better in person.

Not at all, in fact VW made it already and the marketing failed. See it here: I think VW had designed the perfect car to PROTECT the other 5.2 BILLION people on earth that radical Islam want to kill. And before I get blasted with hate mail, yes I know that not all Islamics are militants...just the ones we hear about.

Congrats on all fronts...save the $$$ while you can...the little rug rats are pricier than cars!

Vapor would have been better at Dodge for the Hydrogen powered Viper!

I had an encounter like this one day with an old BMW I had when I lived in Pittsburgh. I was at a self wash car wash and this guy walked up to me and was carrying a bunch of bags from the grocery store and asked me for a ride up town. I told him I was not a taxi and to go call one. Then he started getting really persistant like your guy did. I then noticed the store name on the bags was nowhere near the direction that he walked up from. When I finally told him that I would not be giving him a ride anywhere and that he was going in the wrong direction for me...sorry. He walked down about three bays, threw the bags in the trash, signalled to a guy up the road who promptly came and picked him up and they took off. I gave the cops a description of the car and the plate, but I never heard a thing again. be cautious...your encounter sounds beyond strange. Course he may have wanted to get you some cash and put a lift on it and throw some 42" wheels under it.

This morning found me staring at an honest to goodness Suzuki Samauri that was in like new condition and struggling to reach 55 mph in a head wind. I cannot believe that I actually wanted one of those one day!

A recession looming? Jobless rate nationally is 4.7%. Keep in mind that 3% of the population is UNEMPLOYABLE. Yes, some jobs do not pay the $100k that everyone thinks is what is owed them, and yes, not everywhere is working with those same numbers, I realize that. Houses and interest rates are cheap right now. It is a buyer's market. People who jumped in to that ARM mortgage SCAM three years ago are now in way over thier heads due to higher APRs. People actually thought it was great to be paying interest only on thier loans. My buddy did it - he is now without the mega house and is stuck with $110k in debt! Get yourself a nice conventional mortgage at 5%, and find a nice place that somebody HAS to take a bath on NOW. Heating? Wear a sweater.

All of that heavy driveline is built in sharp contrast to the decals littering the body. On the tailgate it reads "Do not exceed 100 pounds" On the roof of the truck it states "do not place ANYTHING on the roof of the truck heavier than dust or damage will occur!" That shifter should be popular with pole dancers everywhere!

Agreed...but will the soft top make less shrapnel or more when these things are targeted?

I am amazed it took them this long, though I am suprised that the PT is getting axed before the Calibur. And the Commander is only selling well due to them giving them away. We have one and chalk it up to the biggest mistake of our automotive lives. It has great features, but is put together so poorly it should be condemed. Seriously. And the mileage cannot be helping the CAFE for Chrysler. The PT was a great little car with a great following. I wonder if this is the effect of dramatic styling being unable to be refreshed or to evolve, and will the same thing happen to the HHR? The Mustang? The Camaro? Are all of these Heritage designs doomed to repeat the fate of the PT when the newness and novelty wear off? I doubt anyone will miss any of the other axed models.

Apparently, I needn't have worried about traffic...

This happened to my brother's 79 Scirocco - guy backed into it as it was parked on the street - he was in a '74 lifted Blazer and managed to peel the fender and the hood clear back and then drive off. Turns out he parked his truck later that night in the driveway next door. Our paint matched the paint that was now on his bumper...so the police officer and us knocked on the door and when the still drunk kid next door opened the door and eye balled the officer, he yelled back into the house if anyone had ordered a taxi!! Did not impress the officer very much, and with the police report that was written by Mr. Happy officer, we had NO problems with his insurance agent. After she hung up on the officer a few times, I am sure that he is more inclined to think bad things of her and her 'daddy'. Good luck! -
I stopped at the Toyota dealer on Sunday when nobody was around and I so badly wanted to SIT on the Tundra Tailgate to see what would happen. The gate is so flimsy and light I was stunned. I did resist the urge, as I feared a security camera was in range. I am sure my 6-foot 285 pound person would have mangled the gate. I did notice in the corner of the lot, hooked to a trailor used for dealer trades was a mid 90's Chevrolet carrying a new Corrolla...I guess the Tundras on the lot cannot tow anything but cargo containers out of quarrys. The Corrolla was probably too light.

+1 - I have always hated body colored painted wheels of any sort...Cadillac and Mercedes were the worst offenders of this. Beautiful car though. My freind had a '76 convertible with the F.I. 500 in it. It was so odd to punch it and watch the hood rise like the bow of a boat coming up on plane...then when it was up to speed it leveled off. Maybe this is why they were called 'boats'?
