Kia Koup Concept
The Koreans may not be original, but they seem to have a knack lately of taking designs of current cars (like the Civic) and making them better.

Dunno, but Mercedes has been doing it for years, and still does, just ask 68.

I'm just happy we've got the Malibu and not this.

Kia Koup Concept
Indeed it is a sharp looking little car, and it is a hardtop. If the production car is a hardtop how bad will that make GM look?

HOLDEN
It has been an entertaining thread.

Operation Intrepid
I'll try that, I also wonder if wax itself would take the writing off. Gotta find the wax though. Besides the writing, it looks 100% better (I know I need to get pics up). No more dent, yay...just need to align the door properly. Also I put in new weatherstripping, the old ones were cracked on all 4 doors.

S-exy E-uropean C-hick
Ya crazy bastid I did say I hope you had good brakes, because if they failed we would have rear-ended several cars and a semi or 2 going about 40mph or so slower. And yes, Trunk > Silvester (although he did finally get it open). German Engineering, yah. The junkyard trip was a bit of a letdown, partly due to the heat, partly due to the fact that all of the Panthers were under other cars, making it kinda hard to get window motors/regulators, and partly because Ford is an ass.

So...I think dad is buying a Subie...
That's amazing, can I hire him to do this to my cars?

Operation Intrepid
So as you may recall, a few months ago some jackass in a stolen Integra sideswiped both the Intrepid and the Prizm. The Prizm is more scratched than dented, and plus I haven't found any matching doors for it yet, so it hasn't had any work done, we may just leave them on, since the car will be repainted eventually. The Intrepid meanwhile took a nasty hit in the rear driver's side door. It's cost prohibitive to have it the dents removed and have it repainted, but I have left it on there until i could find a matching door for it. We found one at the $50 day at Holland's Used Auto, but unfortunately it was pretty badly scraped up and dented, so I never bothered. I'm cheap, but picky, what can I say? Couple weeks ago while hunting for Shadow parts, I came across a blue Intrepid with a mint door. Bought that, and so it sat on the porch until I had time to put it on. That time was today, where finally I replaced the door. I have to go back and adjust it so it lines up properly, but I'm thrilled that my car doesn't look so bad now. The driver's door has some scrapes, but it's nowhere near as bad. As a side bonus, the door panel for that door was coming off, as the plastic had cracked, so I managed to hunt down a matching one at the yard, and put it on teh door I bought. So now I've got a new door and new door panel. Tomorrow if I have time I want to replace the weather stripping, as it is starting to fall apart. To celebrate, I gave it a thorough car wash! I do have a question though. The wash didn't get off that damn yellow writing the junkyard wrote on teh door. How do I get it off without damaging the paint? Is there something I can buy or is there a trick? Thanks Will post pics when I download them from the camera.

Project SHADOW
It's been a learning experience the whole way, but the Shadow's ready to rock and roll...sort of. As of this weekend: Brand spankin' new waterpump installed new belts fresh coolant new hoses connecting to the waterpump new rear door on the driver's side. new PCV valve and hoses It is a very dirty car, and it's been hot and humid the whole time, and it took 3 weeks to finish cuz we lost the locking T-bolt for the alternator belt adjustment (and we only worked on Saturdays), but I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the most mechanical work I've ever done (so far) to a car, and I enjoyed seeing how things work and how to do things. Plus is was a good way to spend time with my brother, so perhaps that's the most important part of all. I got a great sense of accomplishment turning the car on for teh first time since we started and seeing it all work, no leaks, and not having anything fly apart. We've located a great downer car, an metallic brown `88 Sundance 2.2 Turbo that has kindly donated it's driver's side doors, and will donate the rockers to be welded up to the Shadow. That car's body is in remarkably good condition, shame it was junked. We're gonna grab the brand new radiator out of it too. we've also got a rust free hatch, and a fender to replace the one that was messed up by that Olds a few years back. Once the body work is done it'll be repainted...my brother is thinking blue but I'm hoping for it to stay back...but hey it's his car. Some pics when I get them off the camera.

Sigh All this talk of `69 and `70 `Cudas makes me wish I could drive the ones in my garage, but that'll never happen.

Chrysler Financial to Cease Leasing Vehicles
As others have said, there are other ways to lease, so it probably won't be a huge issue, but it doesn't do Chrysler's image any favors either.

ugh.. I must be tired
As long as I have my Saturdays off I'm happy. Big plans today.

Pontiac Fiero 1984 - 1988
What year was it? It was the `88 model that finally lived up to the sporting character of the car. The Fiero was another result of poor GM planning, and bean counter cost cutting. Had it entered the market with the suspension it was supposed to have, it would have been even more successful.

Chrysler Posts General $431million Loss
341 million is a hell of a lot less than 8.something billion ford lost. I'm surpriced it was that "little"

Acura TL caught naked
I laughed 3 days in a row when a ricer tried to drive his Celica through a flooded street and ruined his car...it sat in the nearby parking lot for 3 days. On the 3rd day a black Dodge Ram was there to help get that piece of crap moving again. pwnt.

Pontiac Fiero 1984 - 1988
It's too bad that it wasn't until the last year that the Fiero got the suspension it deserved. A black or deep red `88 GT would be my Fiero of choice.

Insignia will come to U.S. as a Saturn, with new sheetmetal, interior
Thing is, unless you're a car guy, or spend lots of time in other countries where teh Holdens were sold, you'd never know it was a badge job, which is what made it so good. Relatively inexpensive yet unique vehicle for the market. The GTO's styling may have left something to be desired, but not the G8. This is why the Aura doesn't need to be changed from the Insignia, because no one besides the mentioned people will ever know. It's just wasting money that could be better spent elsewhere, IMHO.
