  1. First off, the i8 is a certainly a good example of something that doesn't sell. It's "arrogant" to the point that no one wants to be seen in one. Same with the R8 : VW sold (15) R8s in December, whereas Cadillac's 'emotional, stylish, doesn't have to sell, arrogant' ELR sold NINE TIMES that many in Dec. That is NOT Cadillac's "biggest weakness"- those uber niche cars don't sell ANY more audis/BMWs. But we NEVER read how the R8 is a 'failure' that 'no body buys', but that's ALL we read about WRT the ELR. - - - - - People need to get it thru their heads; Cadillac is not General Motors (nor BMW, nor Daimler, nor VW), it's NOT about sales volume with Cadillac…. but because it's connected with what was once, 60 years ago, nearly 1 out of every 2 sales in the U.S., that's the filter every op-ed is (erroneously) written thru. It's a flawed metric that is decades out of date BESIDES the fact that it was never pertinent WRT Cadillac. Cadilac's traditional, historical sales level is in the 200K-250K, and that served them with the utmost excellence. With the right mix of product & marketing, it would do so again. Cadillac must STOP trying to match the catalogs of the mega mainstream German so-called luxury brands. They are not a million plus unit marque. Let mercedes compete with toyota in the $29K range- they HAVE to. They can't stay at 250K sales as that was proportional to a population.. or market 20 years ago.. I personally do not see a need for them to hit the 1 million mark.. but globally they should at the very least be on par with Lexus, a luxury brand with a mainstream mother. The only saving grace is that Toyota is mostly Toyota.. with little in the way of near luxury outside of the Land Cruiser and Avalon, while GM does have the entire Buick and GMC brands accounting for 1.7 Million sales in 2014, while Cadillac added an additional 250K Only finding figures for 2013... BMW: 1.66 million sales Audi: 1.59 million sales Mercedes: 1.47 million sales Lexus: 523,000 sales Jaguar/Land Rover: 425,000 sales Throwing in sales from last year for Cadillac with 278,000 still has GM's luxo brand 147K behind Jag/and mostly LR. We all kno that a great deal of BMW and Audi sales are BS in terms of luxury. Only in the U.S. are they truly conveyed as over the top luxury in fact. The 3Series is a sales king along with the 5Series because of their massive fleet sales in Europe.. often being used as cabs, cop cars etc. GM has Opel for that. If U really looked at the numbers.. GM's Luxury brands account for somewhere around 2 Million PREMIUM sales. Putting Caddy at 500K would sweeten that deal. Even better is that when U get right down to it... adding more vehicles to Cadillac volume really revolves around the $33K+ range.. not under. I think some also missed that in the U.S. Cadillac enjoyed the honor of being second in ATP at $51K
  2. The advantage the CT6 will have is lower weight, and that's how it will get away with a 4-cylinder. A Continental is going to be near or over 4,000 in FWD form, the heaviest Fusion at 3600lbs is the same weight as the base CT6. With Cadillac running an 8-speed auto, there is a good chance that the 4-cylinder CT6 will end up faster (slightly) in a 0-60 than a V6 FWD Continental. Things we already know: 2015 CTS 2.0T AWD 0-60 = 5.8 seconds. 2010 MKS Ecoboost AWD 0-60 = 5.8 seconds The base CT6 is lighter than the CTS and is RWD rather than AWD so expect it to be slightly faster. A new Continental is almost certainly going to be heavier than the outgoing MKS, so a 305 HP non-turbo V6 will be slower than a MKS Ecoboost. Thus, 4-cylinder CT6 will be faster than V6 FWD Continental. Could that change with new transmission other than the 6-speed on the Lincoln? Maybe, but it's still going to be very close due to weight differences. The largest concern I have going into any discussion is when people believe talking about which one is cheaper is the way of the world. Quite frankly I thought that the CT6 should have come in in the $60K range considering what one gets... but I see what they did to quell my issue. The $54,490 CT6 is a base trim level with the 2.0L Turbo LTG inline-four engine making 272 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque with 8-speed automatic transmission and with automatic engine Stop/Start. Next CT6 with the 2.0T engine is Luxury. with a few extras.. and a price of $59,390. Both are RWD Next Up the CT6 offers 3.6L V6 LGX engine making 335 horsepower and 285 pound-feet of torque with 8-speed 8L45 automatic transmission and with automatic engine Stop/Start. This is exclusively in all-wheel drive and comes in CT6 (base): $56,490 Luxury: $61,390 Premium Luxury: $64,565 Platinum: $84,460 Last up is the 3.0L LGW Twin-Turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and GM’s 8L90 8-speed automatic transmission. This is all-wheel drive only but, unlike the NA LGX V6 , the TT V6 LGW can only be configured in three trims levels: Luxury: $65,390 Premium Luxury: $68,565 Platinum: $88,460 At almost $89,000.. one has to wonder if a paint upgrade alone might send it over $90,000 not to mention perhaps a few other things. But the question remains; What will the TTV8 VSport come in asking??? I'm guessing we are going over $120K at the end of the day,
  3. The problem is that Cadillac profit potential at 500K is unbelievable.. and GM sees this, especially since the Platform arrangement will push profitability even further by that time. As to the sub-ATS model.. I think that they should hold off as well. Translate it into a sports car convertible and delve deep into niche.
  4. CTS has a sales problem. I am not sure how you fix that though. It is the biggest car in the segment, maybe it needs to shrink, get a more interesting looking rear end, better interior, I don't know. The people aren't buying it though, and even more scary is a new E-class is on sale in summer, and a new 5-series is coming shortly after that. Sales problem has been outlined a thousand times and U and some still seem to not get it. No coupe, no advertising, same priced XTS on the lot.. get it thru your head. Interior is award winning. Performance is class leading. Look is subjective but I think its the best looking of the segment
  5. The CLA is put down not because of the price.. but because it is a $h!ty car that has the build quality of a leather cladded Yugo.
  6. Why are we still talking about old Cadillac systems when the new systems are launching with the CT6? Cadillac's Active On-Demand all-wheel-drive (AWD) system which allows variation of 80/20, 60/40 and 50/50 split depending on the mode selected.. again Sport mode and U get a 20/80 front/rear split, Tour gets 40/60, and Snow mode splits it right down the middle. I love that. And then there is this depiction of greatness in the splendid design. Just MONEY
  7. Completely agree. Once you pass that 250ish area with even more tq it's a recipe for a CAPABLE car but a disappointing car. This actually reminds me.. My buddy with his '12 GTI pulled up to a stop light next to a Focus ST which he had heard the blow-off valve on(assuming it was at least slightly modded). He wanted to race him(assuming he would lose to the much more powerful ST so his expectations were low). When the light turned green he just stood on the "go pedal" and the ST just sat there and lit up his tires. My friend let off fairly quick as it wasn't even a race at that point but the point being.. FWD is very limited when it comes to power to the pavement. Admittedly they should incorporate the AWD system in it.. but even with 300HP my Impala is devoid of any torque steer
  8. The Turbo charged 2008 Cobalt SS had 260HP and 260 ft lb of torque. .. it was pulling 0-60 in 5.5 secs and pulling .92 gs on the Skidpad.. It held the record on the Nur Ring for about 7 years. GM offered a factory back boost that pushed it from 260HP/260lbs to 290hp/340lbs of torque.. in 2008. I kno 3 different people with Cobalt.. HHR.. and Sky RL with this upgrade.. NOTHING but the truth I swore there was something I heard the other day about glass houses Casa... LOL... He started it
  9. Insanity. If anything I'm betting that women will prefer the smaller size.. It's easier to park for one thing
  10. With the right new vehicles... I see very little in the way of 500,000 by 2020. Cadillac needs product...and within that product, variants. I still am bewildered as to why I can not buy a Cadillac convertible, small, mid, or sports car. Its insanity. There shouldn't be a concept, but a production vehicle already on the way out.
  11. Yet U did. Ford had the Continental debut.. IMO.. Boring. As a luxury lover, there is nothing that inspires me to want to buy that car. U are making such HoopLa over... I assume U have one on order? Let it go casa. Let it go. Right. If it makes U feel better... I at least like the effort
  12. Cadillac finishes 2015 with a year over year increase of 7.5 % globally finishing the year 277,868, or 19,000 more than 2014. Cadillac’s ATS, along with the SRX set annual sales records. The ATS moved 63,049 units in 2015, an increase 35%while the SRX totaled 99,397, an increase of 13.3%. For December 2015, Cadillac saw a 24.5% jump in sales overall, and 28.7% in the U.S., its home market. In China, Cadillac’s second largest market, sales increased 17%. Canadian Cadillac dealers saw and increase of 16.2% , while sales were boosted 19.6% in the Middle East, 27.7% in Mexico and 75.8% in South Korea. It should also be noted that These come on the heal of a healthy $51,000 average transaction price for 2015 in the U.S., second only to Mercedes Benz. Inventory levels have been pushed below the 50-day mark as Cadillac plans to expand its line-up soon with the launch of the range topping CT6 large executive sedan in March, followed by the XT5 crossover as a replacement for the very successful SRX. The vehicles will be built in Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and Spring Hill, Tenn. respectively. “Cadillac’s global expansion is building momentum, driven by increasing product substance and disciplined growth strategies,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “Not only did volume grow, but Cadillac’s transformed products earned higher transaction prices from customers, driving lower inventory levels. This creates a strong foundation for our two all-new products launching in the first half of 2016 – the CT6 prestige sedan and the XT5 luxury crossover.” Cadillac ATS sales grew 51% to 7,825 units Cadillac CTS sales grew 1% to 3,043 units Cadillac ELR sales grew 12% to 135 units Cadillac Escalade sales grew 30% to 5,306 units Cadillac SRX sales grew 22% to 10,001 units Cadillac XTS sales grew 12% to 5,982 units Source: Cadillac View full article

  14. Facepalm moment. Lol.. To Suavil's LeBron comment, yeah.. Didn't 50cent do the same thing to the G8? Toss money at me and I might let Hyundai.. A company I hate.. use my name too
  15. Yet U did. Ford had the Continental debut.. IMO.. Boring. As a luxury lover, there is nothing that inspires me to want to buy that car. U are making such HoopLa over... I assume U have one on order?
  16. U're entitled to buy whatcha like... Me? I would take the current ATS V hands down over the mighty Camaro and the LT1. The LF4 is simply too good and the Cadillac only lacks in terms of gauges versus the Chevy due to DOB. CT3 will rectify quite a few things.
  17. Lol at the Focus's Recall history. Won't even bring up the Escape's.
  18. Same thing I said during the entire run of the Cobalt SS... Chevy threw Ford a bone for the last 5 years with no hatch, or ST fighter.. and looking at the sales between the two compacts.. still beat the $h! outta em..
  19. If I agreed with your opinion, then we'd both be wrong! By your theory, the Pacifica is even more interesting to people than Continental. Chrysler had guards up there kicking everyone but media out. During Monday and Tuesday, most of the people in the Cobo are media or industry.. People who have been to one of the many many displays of the CT6 from the previous 10 months. The CT6 is not new to them, the Continental was less than 6 hours old at that point. When I was there late Tuesday, it was mostly employees and suppliers left at the show and most of which have not seen either product yet, even though the CT6 was revealed prior. That is what I saw and commented on. Anyway, our opinions and your insult aside, what I took issue with recently is that casa gets away with what he got away with. You have deleted my posts for far less. So now I am thinking about going into a few GM autoshow reveal threads, sharing my 'opinion' and flooding them with pics of Ford or Lincoln equivalent products. Let's see you give that an OK. I don't know where you got this impression you seem to have that this is my first time at the rodeo. This site is going to be celebrating its 15th birthday this summer which will be its 9th year under my ownership and 14th with me as a member. I've been running forums in some form or another for over 20 years, going back to the BBS days. You aren't even close to being the first person to threaten to troll my forums.... heck that isn't even your first threat to me. I promise you, I can handle you and I can do a lot worse than ban you if I have to. I've been to each of the Detroit, NYC, and Chicago auto shows every year for the past 8 years as a media member and LA auto show the past 2 years. William has been attending the shows with me for a number of years as well. We have it down to a very efficient science for a 2 man operation. We know how these shows work. So go ahead, try to 'splain how the shows work, I'm here eagerly waiting to take notes from you. You made a lot of assumptions for things I never said or eluded to. I simply made an observation that late Tuesday, as the press was finishing most of their work, and the crowds remaining were workers, suppliers, etc.....that Conti had a lot, lot, LOT more traffic than CT6, which had basically none. Oh, and I also complained about casa's troll-worthy rants, which are not allowed for some others. Draw from that what you want. Troll worthy? Calling U out as the salesperson U are is troll worthy? Please. With U it never stops. Then again U are the same person that once predicted that the MKT.. yes this MKT was gonna put the Escalade outta business. Bottom line is that the Continental better do a heckava job. The name change will at least kill Lincoln's ability to put a "100% increase" next to the MKS's numbers when it goes on sale.. taking that average 570 per month to 1100
  20. I dunno.. I think that your assessment on the CT6 is wrong. I think that the car is gonna surprise a great deal of people on these enthusiasts sites. The only hurt I can see is that the XTS will be viewed as a cheaper alternative to the vehicle because of the size.. ironically it does the same thing to the CTS. The CTS sufferes vs the XTS because the XTS is priced exactly like the CTS while appearing to be.. the larger, thus higher up car. The CT6 could suffer due to the fact that they are somewhat similar in size.. yet there is a $9K difference in price. Versus the Germans? I think U truly overestimate them. I think that the CT6 might just be the savior of the American luxury game.. This car appears to be of Flagship caliber for a price scheme that come in mid-size levels. The amenities, technology, and style is gonna be a hard thing to turn away from even versus the S-Class and 7Series
  21. Not at all. The ATS, for one, is in its last two years.. this Buick wouldn't be intro'ed til around 2018. As gorgeous as it is.. the CT3(?) is gonna be taking on the Elmiraj design language, as the current one is more in line with the Ciel. The other thing is that this is SPORTY... exclusively so. Its like comparing a 911 to a Panamera. Different purposes, even in coupe form.
  22. E xactly. Go into GMC/Buick dealership right now.. U will see the Acadia, Enclave, Yukon, and XL.. all there in a row to confuse the $h! outta someone. Same thing over at Chevy. I personally think that the Traverse should get the diet as well... unless that Blazer is on the way very soon that is
  23. Just stop.. really... the Terrain is being downsized to CRV level. The Enclave and Traverse are still there in the GM porfolio. You can't say that the Acadia was one of the few true 8 passenger vehicles on the market when GM builds 2 other models the same way. The transmissions are the same, the V6 engine is an update of the current model and doesn't come with start/stop, the 4-cylinder will be where the fuel economy gains are.... and the Lambdas struggle to get close to their EPA ratings in the real world. With 700 lbs of weight loss, they should do better than the current models once people get their hands on them. If the Acadia's size bothers you that much, GM will invite you to look at the Enclave or Traverse. As much as I like the Lambdas.. I have no idea that anyone would be this hurt by a simple change of size for 1 of the 3. He acts as iff GM has left the market.. they haven't. They even still sell the huge Yukon and the even larger XL.. not to mention on most GMC showroom floors.. the Buick Enclave as well.
