  1. 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire
  2. i see where you are coming from but most of the better paid sales people that know their stuff are probably a dying breed. to scared to risk hanging around and seeing if the general will make it through. of course some of them might be in the same boat as CARBIZ. just got tired of all the effort for nearly no payoff. i wouldnt be shocked at the turnover rate for car salesmen right now at all. back when our local chevy dealer was dick brooks chevrolet there was a sweet 01 ss camaro on the lot in pewter metallic. i stopped and looked a few times and one day an older man came out to talk to me. i still had my SS454 then and his son had one too. we talked about the camaro and he told me how he liked it but prefered the handling and looks of the ws6 trans am he owned more. long story short he asked if i wanted to take a spin in it ( ) i politely turned him down because A) i didnt want to wreck it and B) i wasnt that used to a stick so i definately wasnt willing to replace a clutch.
  3. i think a big leap forward came with the gmt400's in 1988 vastly better styling and during that generation there were so many upgrades to the overall performance of the trucks.
  4. cowards are what i think of them. it'd be different to just off themselves but thats too easy and forgotten by next week. No, by interrupting other peoples lives and cutting them short it forces people to remember the perp and by doing so he will get the attention they so much desired.
  5. i've always liked these for some reason.
  6. well that was easy. now what else can we do around here?
  7. why thank you gentlemen. i appreciate the good tidings. it was a decent birthday, a lil busy though. had to work tonight and they were giving away free beer and pizza at the ER tonight it seemed.
  8. a lil on the sad side. just read this today. http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/pgStory?co...p;photo=9324670
  9. I got my cwp but i dont carry. i was pulled over once a while back but since there isnt anything in the truck i didnt even bring it up.
  10. it was in a scuba divers flikr collection. here is the link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/42413603@N00/2128745327/ no real background just that its near the kingston yacht club. should look through his album the guy goes ice water diving and all.
  11. spot on. i hate to even hear the name of the dealership that i got my truck from. they are idiots. i have gone there several times to get things fixed only to go home and come back the very next day in order to get it fixed...
  12. well that i can understand... i recommended a car for a friend once. he wanted basic transportation pickup to go from home to work and back. nothing fancy just the gas crunch was on and his 3500 6.6 gmc dually wasnt cutting it. i told him how about a pain jane colorado ext cab. can get it in a stick with the 4 banger and get good hwy return or get the inline 5 and get a little less and be able to pull some stuff if you have too. went over it with him on the web. we built him one, printed it out so he could take it to the dealer if he wanted too. we compared to the tacoma and he was impressed how closely matched they were as far as MPG they were. he comes back to work the next week in a toyota tundra crew cab 4x4 with the 5.7 with an offroad kit... so at least when you tried to be a voice of reason for someone they listen to you once they get it worked out they may decide they love the car.
  13. might have to towel it off before that first coat of wax i dont know if i should be sick or sad...
  14. Chuck Norris puts the 'laughter' in 'manslaughter. just read on yahoo that fool turned 69 today holy crap.
  15. then yes its become a "pest control" population. we had that while back down here where there were deer everywhere at the airport to the tune of one "deerstrike" a week. they got a local hunting club out here to take on the task. the animal lovers wanted to build a fence . but yes the introduction of natural predators is to me the best solution because once it is under control if the predators get to be a problem they can be trapped and moved elsewhere. they are using red wolves in the blue ridge parkway to control the new elk population
  16. i have a 2004 colorado ls crewcab z71. since owning it the following has had to be done. 1. the cd player ate a cd and wouldnt eject it. replaced under warranty. 2. passenger tail light mount broken from factory. RUW. 3. Safety recall, possible faulty wiring harness for tail lights. RUW 4. Blower fan bearing went out (tried to get it fixed but the service people at the dealership are idots. i just ignore it now.) 5. power steering squeaks when turning left only (started at 1500 miles) once again the service department cannot fix it (idoits). i have been told that replacing the fluid in the saginaw unit will fix it. 6. both front tie end rods replaced (under extended warranty) 7. tail housing seal on transmission replaced under ext warranty 8. two speakers replaced under warrenty (cant handle the volume i guess ) 9. There is a service bulletin that i got in the mail about the headgasket failing prematurely. warrenty extended to 7 yrs and 100k miles in such an event. i have owned this vehichle new. it had 54 miles on it when i took delivery (came from NC dealership) it has 72K miles on the clock. i would own another chevrolet in a heartbeat (no pun intended) and would love a 5.3 crew cab or extended cab colorado in the new black granite metallic but for the cost, you might as well step up to the 1500's. i understand where advant 1963 is coming from. the chevys my family has owned have been excellent to us ( except for the pos 1985 cavalier station wagon we had with a 4cyl). my uncle has nothing but terrible luck when it comes to them though. he always gets the lemons. he bought used once so that may explain that one but he states he would own one except for his bad luck with them. i think however with any car or any brand the maintenance on the vehicle has to be kept up. you want her to last 150K miles and 10 yrs? wash it at least 3 times a month. rotate the tires, keep check on your brakes and suspension, regularly change the oil and filter, and run some fuel additives every once in a while. if you take care of it, it will return the favor.
  17. i read in a recent issue of car and driver or motor trend how he came about his passion for the auto world. it boiled down to a blue jaguar roadster that a man had down the street from him. the car and man who owned it still are around and in fact the car is in the mans basement. they went to visit him after leno tracked them back down. in the article it said there was a young boy who was at school who told his friends that leno was his uncle. i think he was a neighbor or something. long story short the kid told leno what the situation was and leno took him to school in his lambo that week.
  18. problem is there are a lot of animal rights organizations that are trying to drum up all kinds of oppositions towards hunting. the truth of the matter is that responsible hunters help the deer out more than PETA and the like ever could. maintaining the deer population by hunting and creating habitats are what outdoorsmen strive at. once the deer population starts going up the overal populations health goes down, resources dwindle and even more insurance rates will start going up.
  19. seems that way but you have to think that was prolly a 90lb deer, they were prolly doing 60 or so, thats a good deal of kinetic energy that has to go somewhere. when i wash the roof of my colorado it bows a little when i bear down on it. unfortunately yes i think it is... terrible thing about it is that it hasnt had a chance to solidify... if you have ever field-dressed a deer and cut the wrong thing you know exactly how badly that truck smells.
  20. got this in my email. here was the background story from the email. An oncoming car clipped a deer and sent it straight up into the air. The deer came down head-first into Clayton's brand new truck. The deer's head went thru the front windshield, cutting the head (plus some) off, and landed in Jill's lap. The body of the deer flipped up, smashed in the top of the truck, and landed in the bed. Clayton couldn't see Jill from his side, because the top of the truck was smashed in so horribly. He got out of the truck, went around, and opened the door on her side...only to start flipping out, because she was literally drenched in blood. However, neither one of them was hurt.
  21. at least the majority of dearborn's UAW members get it i guess...
  22. DETROIT – Unionized workers at Ford Motor Co. have approved contract changes that include freezing wages and cutting benefits in a move aimed at helping the automaker remain competitive. The United Auto Workers said Monday a majority of hourly workers voted in favor of modifications to the 2007 contract with Ford, eliminating cost-of-living increases and cash bonuses. The agreement is expected to be a model for Chrysler LLC and General Motors Corp., which need to bring their labor costs in line with those of foreign auto companies' plants in the U.S. as a condition for the $17.4 billion they have received in federal loans so far. Under terms of their loan agreements, progress must be made by March 31. The companies are seeking an additional $21.6 billion in government aid. Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford, which has not sought government funding as its rivals have, is the first U.S. automaker to come to an agreement with the union. The company said that it did not want to be at a disadvantage should its competitors negotiate lower labor costs with the UAW. The UAW pact also allows Ford to use company stock to make payments to a union-run health care trust, called voluntary employee beneficiary associations, or VEBAs. Ford can use stock to pay up to 50 percent of its payments, which would pay retiree health care benefits. Ford owes $6.3 billion to its VEBA at the end of this year. Chrysler, however, may not be able to match Ford's guarantee of issuing additional shares for the trust if Ford's share price drops, according to a person briefed on Chrysler's negotiations. The person asked not to be identified because the talks are private. Chrysler is a privately held company and would have to grant partial ownership to the union, since there are no public shares of the company. Chrysler must pay around $9.9 billion to its trust at the end of the year, while GM has to pay about $20 billion. The UAW said 59 percent of Ford's production workers and 58 percent of skilled-trades workers voted for the concessions. At least two local unions rejected the measures. "By working together with our UAW partners, we identified solutions that will help Ford reach competitive parity with foreign-owned auto manufacturers and that are important to our efforts to operate through the current economic environment without accessing a bridge loan from the U.S. government," said UAW President Ron Gettelfinger in a written statement. Base wages for UAW workers will remain the same, but the deal limits supplemental pay that laid-off workers receive while they collect unemployment benefits. The ratified deal also ends the controversial jobs bank program that let workers collect most of their pay from the company when laid-off. "Now the pressure is on to get a similar agreement at GM and Chrysler. Time is running out," said Aaron Bragman, an auto analyst with the consulting company IHS Global Insight in Troy, Mich. "It's ironic that Ford was able to accomplish it, being the one that doesn't have an agreement with the government." Shares of Ford rose 4 cents, or 2.4 percent, to close at $1.74 in the regular session. After hours, the stock gained 6 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $1.80. "By working together with our UAW partners, we identified solutions that will help Ford reach competitive parity with foreign-owned auto manufacturers and that are important to our efforts to operate through the current economic environment without accessing a bridge loan from the U.S. government," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford's group vice president of global manufacturing and labor affairs, in a written statement. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090309/ap_on_...DHxoyWEKY6yBhIF
