  1. well.... i in all honesty am speechless.
  2. WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - A Canadian judge ruled Thursday that a man accused of beheading and cannibalizing a fellow Greyhound bus passenger is not criminally responsible due to mental illness. The decision means Chinese immigrant Vince Li will be treated in a mental institution instead of going to prison. The family of victim Tim McLean dismissed the trial as a "rubber stamp" that allows Li to get away with murder. "A crime was still committed here, a murder still occurred," said Carol deDelley, McLean's mother. "There was nobody else on that bus holding a knife, slicing up my child." The judge said Li should not be held criminally accountable for stabbing McLean dozens of times last July and dismembering his body while horrified passengers fled. Justice John Scurfield said Li's attack was "grotesque" and "barbaric" but "strongly suggestive of a mental disorder." "He did not appreciate the actions he committed were morally wrong. He believed he was acting in self-defense," Scurfield said. Both the prosecution and the defense argued Li can't be held responsible because Li was suffering from schizophrenia and believed God wanted him to kill McLean because the young man was a force of evil. He will be institutionalized without a criminal record and will be reassessed every year by a mental health review board to determine if he is fit for release into the community. DeDelley said a yearly hearing is ridiculous, and that Li should be locked up for the rest of his life. Li's trial barely lasted two days and only heard from two witnesses, both psychiatrists, who testified he is mentally ill. That Li killed the 22-year-old carnival worker was never in question at the trial. Li has admitted he killed McLean but pleaded not guilty. Witnesses said Li attacked McLean unprovoked as their bus traveled at night along a desolate stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway. An agreed statement of facts between the prosecution and defense detailed how passengers stood outside the bus as Li stabbed McLean dozens of times and beheaded and mutilated his body. Finding himself locked inside the bus, Li finally escaped through a window and was arrested. Li then apologized and pleaded with police to kill him. Police said McLean's body parts were found throughout the bus in plastic bags, and the victim's ear, nose and tongue were found in Li's pocket. A psychiatrist called by the prosecution Wednesday testified that Li cut up McLean's body because he believed that he would come back to life and take revenge. McLean's family is vowing to turn their attention to fighting the law that allows people who are found not criminally responsible to be released into the community once they are deemed well, without serving a minimum sentence in jail. DeDelley said her son didn't die in vain. His death highlights concerns about the justice system, she said. "Now people are aware that there is a problem," she said. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9...;show_article=1
  3. we got 3.5 inches way down here in SC. them most we have gotten in 12 yrs. gaffney sc got a little over 6
  4. would you buff that out or take 0000 steel wool to it?
  5. wow the comments on that video... touching? really?
  6. and the saddest thing is, its encouraged. its even being encouraged now in the middle of the financial meltdown. with hyundai's little 1 yr cant make the payments give it back deal. my dad told me when i was looking to buy a car, your spending limit is easy to see. all you have to do is get a car that cost less than what you make a year. you make 40K stick it in the 30Ks but it would be best to get something right in the middle that way you have some buffer.
  7. and 55 packard tech too as for fwd/rwd snow traction. my grandparents made routine trips to spruce pines, boone, little switzerland, and blowing rock in the snow in one of these all the while passing 4wd trucks in the ditch going up the mountain. truth is the awd/fwd/rwd arguement is the same as coke or pepsi but a flagship car should be performance oriented as well as luxo. fwd just wont cut that. its got to be rwd.
  8. only played COD4 offline multiplayer. go out and rent it when we have gaming parties. fav level is the shipment level on hardcore with the shotguns. next time round we are networkin 2 xbox 360's. i did purchase COD5 when circuit city was going under. i somewhat like it better if not for the storyline alone.
  9. eh, i traded my truck in on a brand new 04 colorado when i was in xray school. now with only 3 payments left i'd trade its new owner even to get that ss back. even if it only gets half the mileage the rado does, its nowhere near as mean looking and commanding as that 454. i dont look to buy new again for another 5 yrs or so. then there prolly wont be anything worth eyeing anyway.
  10. sadly there is one financially disturbed person around my house who got a ranger ext cab fx4 or whatver the top of the line ranger is... thats enough for a good f-150. i just dont understand why people wont jump to a full sizer. on topic that dealership is a scant 2 hour ride from my house. i saw it on the way back home from chattanooga. they got parking garage for a dealership lot at the bmw dealership there. the stupid little thing is hideous though. looks like an 82 toyota truck from the cab back with a 01 prerunner front end.
  11. just found this on the front page of ebay motors. its a 1985 IROC camaro that wasnt even dealer prepped when it was bought and taken home. The price is unjustifiable but how cool is it with that few miles. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=130289154362
  12. theres one i used to have in my locker at work. had them all in a meeting with the CEO stating that the water in the building was perfectly safe to drink per engineering. then one asks him why he is drinking bottled water. "because thats what engineering drinks".
  13. my point is why did they retreat? there is an excellent show that comes on every once in a while called little ice age big chill that is on the history channel. here is a brief read about what it basically consists of.
  14. why does the corvette have to be justified? the corvette as it stands could go 3 to 5 yrs without an update. what does that mean? no development costs for one thing which seems to be the highest cost of producing a vehicle. i'll put it another way. BMW is struggling, they should stop making the M-series. had that guy said that he would probably have a burning house right now. every tom dick and harry in the business is taking free shots at detroit because not only is it easy, its the "in" thing to do. if the plant started having monthly shutterings then fine stop production but whats the point of killing a brand Icon? limit production to so many a year. constantly things down the line from corvette testing is trickled down the line to the other models.
  15. yeah but didnt glaciers make the great lakes too?
  16. The Corvette is a brand anomaly; it's as much a Chevy as a Cayenne is a Porsche, only less so yeah you lost me there douche. how do you compare a world beating sports car to a crossover that porsche had to design so that the rich and trendy who wanted one could still have their cake and eat it too. the cayenne and panamara fit the anomaly category a little better. But after all this cat only wants a paycheck, he doesnt care what his words combine to represent.
  17. one of the mainstay Chevy dealerships folded 30 min away from my house 2 weeks ago. no one saw it coming really.
  18. hehe yeah i saw that a 280 million $ fireworks show the penguins got to watch. i hear global warming pimp slapped it back down but eh thats just a rumor.
  19. they can have mine after they are empty. I emailed my state senator about the "Ammunition Accountability Act" the other day. its dead in the water in my state. voted into the ground. told me if it comes up again he'll vote no again. Controling legally owned firearms does nothing to stop violence committed with illegally aquired ones.
  20. hehe i nearly died laughing when i heard that on the tv, i wondered if anyone else had caught it too. sorry Karl Benz, you and pat DRP-37435: "automobile fueled by gas" dont count.

  22. yeah, he had done that before taking the plane to its extreme limits and was reprimanded for it. this time however he did it too low and too slow. in some of the videos you can see the wings clipping electrical lines before the crash.
  23. The B-52 crash at Fairchild Air Force Base was a fatal air crash that occurred on June 24, 1994, killing the four crew members of a United States Air Force (USAF) B-52 Stratofortress named Czar 52[1] during an airshow practice flight. In the crash, Bud Holland, who was the command pilot of the aircraft based at Fairchild Air Force Base, flew the aircraft beyond its operational limits and lost control. As a result, the aircraft stalled, hit the ground, and was destroyed. The crash was videotaped and the video was shown repeatedly on news broadcasts throughout the United States.[2] The accident investigation concluded that the chain of events leading to the crash was primarily attributable to Holland's personality and behavior, USAF leaders' reactions (or lack thereof) to it, and the sequence of events during the mishap flight of the aircraft. Today, the crash is used in military and civilian aviation environments as a case study in teaching crew resource management. Also, the crash is often used by the USAF, United States Navy and United States Army during aviation safety training as an example of the importance of compliance with safety regulations and correcting the behavior of anyone who violates safety procedures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bud_Holland as for the a-10, this is my favorite part
