so let me get this straight, GM is totally at fault for everyone and their brother skipping from vans to SUV's and trucks. Toyota and Honda saw the slice that detroit was getting and out pops tundras, ridgelines, sequoias, pilots and everything else you can imagine. if GM made their money making trucks and suvs its because people were buying them left and right. had they not i am sure people would have been criticising them for that. toyota and honda didnt take a hit like the big 3 cause they started with cars first then added the "gas guzzzlers".

a keyboard for internet and email and whatnot in the glovebox. yes thats silly. they already make it. they call them laptops. while it would be nice to know what the problem is, what would the average person do with said knowledge... take it to the dealership and have them fix it. and they would sell thousands of them... in a healthier economy because the cost would be significant. which wont help GM going bankrupt at all. and tesla hasnt made a dent in its production run with less than 100 of the 1200 spoken for cars built. they are running out of money faster than GM http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10/31/el...motors_bailout/

say it with me... "domino effect". GM goes and takes jobs with it. Parts suppliers go, take jobs with them. companys that produces parts for suppliers go, take jobs with them. you reading this or you just see words? toyota cannot CANNOT float this country. in my mind they would say screw it pull up shop and go elsewhere where they could be profitable. this isnt just about GM there is a much much bigger picture tied in. because of all the satellite business that come together to keep GM floating is why they stay alive. i am more than sure that all the jobs related to GM inside or outside are more than 1-2% of the nations workforce.

i'm a radiolgic technologist at a large local hospital. mind you because of the healthcare policy where we treat anyone insurance or not we lost 18 million dollars last year. everyone needs xrays at sometime but that doesnt mean i'll have job. we are experiencing some of the worst cutbacks our hospital has seen in its 100 years since it was founded. there is no job that is 100% guaranteed.

has toyota become the new bmw or something? the last time i checked it looked like toyota was having just as much trouble as everyone else in the car business. everyone including TOYOTA posted losses this go round. i may be dumb as a rock when it comes to math but bad economy = less spending in my book so if you spend less those that you normally buy from will post a loss. its like blaming subway for losing money and sales when everyone was on that stupid no carb atkins diet trip.

i think where most of the problem starts is people living above their means to begin with. "we want 2 cars and a 5 br / 3 bath house with 5 acres of land but combined onlny make 70K a year. i know we'll buy at the top end of our budget so we'll have the best of everything and still afford it". then when unforseen costs come along you are in deep dookie cause theres no buffer in the finances anymore. i wont blame parties, i wont blame energy costs. i'll blame the greed that has consumed the nation to where everyone thinks they deserve the best. my house was built in 1898 that aint a typo, 1898. its 900 sq ft. 2 br 1 bath. its cold in the winter, hot in the summer. i drive a 2004 colorado and i have a collectors car. i would love a very nice house and a new truck every 3 years with a chevelle and a 2nd gen f-body flanking my fullsize but to tell the truth i would much rather have that blanket for when times (next few years) get tough.

um thats just about any car that you buy essentially... soon as that front tire hits highway <bam> 20% off the top if they did that, i would personally set that red car in my sig on fire and burn it to the frame as a sacrifice to the good days of gm. perhaps after gm sells to toyota the US could sell russia and north korea the plans to an f-22 raptor

Rumors of tomorrow's "important changes" at GM have approached a fevered pace, but the latest one we've heard is coming directly from someone who's directly related to someone who could be directly affected if the rumor is true. So, it must be true, right? Anyway, we've just been told by the family of a Chevy Volt engineering team member that not only is the untouchable Volt program on hold, GM's even letting some of the engineering team, aka "the chosen people," go. I have been going to jalopnik and edmonds inside line for my sema fix... i brought up since the election was over hopefully we could get a lil more automotive geared again but was somewhat rebuked for it.
