  1. And actually copies them badly....one wonders how the Chinese stylists are adjusting to Beer and bratwurst while they live in Germany and Style BMW's finest. Putting idiots in touch with vintage iron almost always ends badly. I remember a gentlemanly soul wanting to buy a green Boss 302 Mustang that was all original paint...but then wanted to paint it metallic red like the one he had in high school....and leave the green interior...
  2. And I as the foreign car fan here will tell you flat out I don't find Porsche interiors anything to write home about, even as late as five or ten years ago. However, flat out...hmmmm..take that flat six out and drop in a GM V8....a popular swap for Porsche.
  3. As I said my daughter works in auto claims...there are a crap ton of people so upside down gap insurance does not even help them...I do not envy people making payments on Iron sitting at CoPart. Getting it up quick cheap flashy is the new American way....preferably with stuff from China that breaks before it is paid for. On the other hand, that speed queen dryer works great. Three of my five living at home plus an exchange student from Denmark, it never misses a bet no matter how much we throw at it.
  4. Please do not dignify Benz with obscenity, it is not worth the time. Besides, Corvette has been in production for how long with its interior...? Since 1953? And GM has sold how many? Besides, today is my birthday...Camaro was introduced on either the 11th or 12 of September 1966...they have had plenty of buyers since... I would buy one.
  5. Indeed....my oldest son and middle daughter work in the insurance industry...they are going nuts at the moment...
  6. Exactly...but over rated or not, Benz is putting a crap ton of money to metal. And these discussions ahve gotten very, very old. Every car buying transaction is unique, and I am looking for a second car to replace the MINI. I am considering both a new WRX and a used Mercury Marauder....among other things. People do bizarre cross shopping all of the time but it should not be the rule of how we think about automotive transactions. And of the above cars, will happily take the GTI and never look back...
  7. Bolt is a game changer. As a guy who loved GM back in the 70's, its nice to see them pushing the envelope and back at the top of their game.
  8. Sweet on the Lemans. Came out from breakfast at a pricey french themed restaurant with friends Sunday morning to find a pale yellow 65 corvette Fuelie convertible sitting out front. Big brake upgrade, billet aluminum wheels, late model corvette seats. Otherwise looked original. Counted 3 Rolls Royce parked or in traffic on my way to pick up my daughter from School the other day. Sad day in Mudville when a Rolls Royce is much more common in Columbus Ohio than a vintage Muscle car.
  9. As a fan and an owner of a current body style beetle, this seems fantastic!
  10. I ahve seen several cup cares go back, and they are older and scrapped...very sad...
  11. Only worth fixing them in certain cases. My daughter writes off cars every day that are repairable but the value is too low to make repair feasible...often even with 2013 or 2014 vehicles.
  12. Which is exactly the best use of public transit. I loved it when I lived in Chicago. Atlanta, where I also lived, has an awesome system.
  13. ...and yet you use public transit. Where I live in Columbus is very similar.
  14. Public transit could be a great option if everyone did not live in single family houses spread out over a very alrge area.
  15. The CTS Paul my co worker just bought does not under deliver in the least.
  16. Ohhhhhhhhh I get they build cheap crap also...I just have much more respect for Benz than Lincoln.
  17. Insanity...
  18. Actually Benz picked up more in sales than Lincoln sells all together between 2006 and the present. Benz is tier one Luxury, Lincoln struggle to compete with Acura and Infinity.
  19. A lot of those may eventually get titles washed and returned to service. Buyer beware of anything with a history of Texas ownership I think. And long term yes, another recession.
  20. I am actually finding it difficult to be an enthusiast with the current crop of vehicles. BMW especially, but pretty much most other companies...Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Ford, Acura, Lincoln, Mercedes Benz...
  21. It's not hideous either, but also no something that I would buy. Agreed...plus the amrket is a little soft right now.
  22. Because what happened in 1962, 1973 and 1984 is entirely relevant for what is happening right now and we should slut shame Cadillac forever just because they are an American company with a name that starts with the letter C. Because every grey haired 70 something couple that bought one wanted to get home from the country club real fast to get it on...I am sure that was high on buyers priority list for a Luxury car. I love me some e36 M3!
