Not to mention Quality control out of the Chattanooga plant is abysmal. The people With TDI Passats in my TDI circles have come to pretty much rue the day they bought the damned thing. One of the guys in my local TDI club actually had so many issues with his that he bought a Ford C Max Hybrid and parked his Passat until the day he takes it back to the dealer. Hell, I have talked to numerous people who are going to use the TDI Goodwill free towing to take their Passat back so they literally don't ever have to drive it again. In all reality, it seems that there are more legitimate mechanical faults, from squeaks and rattles to sunroof issues and everything in between with the 2012-2016 Passats. Even the professors I have talked to with Passat gassers here at work seem to despise them.

Not sure why they are trying to bring in an under powered under engineered US market only SUV for the masses either. They seem to have the opposite of the Midas touch. ' Really, it is hard to match US car makers at their own game. Anyone who would buy this MINI SUV over a GMC Terrain needs to have their head examined!

Would You Rather: Putting the 'Sport' in SUV Edition

Agree with you Dfelt. Would not kick that wrangler out of my garage. -
Large GM SUV's are also excellent at stopping motorcycles.

Perhaps this alternative propulsion system would be more to your liking.

Beautiful Cars Appreciation Thread
A Horse With No Name replied to oldshurst442's topic in The Lounge
Love all of them. The Mustang II Cobra reminds me of a friends car in high school, lots of good times in those old days. I still want to build a 93 Cobra R clone. -
Good luck. Will not e ready for a few months on the other car thing. Agree that a lot fo enwer cars just do not cut it.

I would take this over either the Porsche or the Jag all day and half of tonight. Only vehicle here doing any actual "sport" type work at all. Agree on the V6 GC and a sports car. -
What Would You Buy Instead: Porsche 911 Carrera Edition

And I would agree with you. Check out the beautiful car appreciation thread and see how many air cooled 911's I posted. I used to Flag sCCA races, and also the vintage races at Mid Ohio. I am well acquainted with their accomplishments. -
Another vehicle with the appeal of the Routan to sit for 180 days unsold on dealer lots. VW needs to existentially ask itself if it is serious about the US market.

Agree that I would take a GC SRT8 over the Macan. No questions asked. -
Fusion Sport vs MKZ 3.0T, both with 3 season tires

Audi has a LOT going for it. Of the three luxury car brands, I like Cadillac, Audi, and Lexus. Infinity, Acura, Lincoln, BMW all have some pretty serious issues. Still would not own a European Luxury car out of warranty with a gun to my head, but I would damned sure pick an Audi over a Lincoln or a BMW! -
What Would You Buy Instead: Porsche 911 Carrera Edition

Depends on what you are buying it for. They make a great weekend cruiser, I have known lots of satisfied C3 owners. And 1970's Porsche have plenty of issues of their own. Would still own a C7 Z06 over a 911 -

Macan. but if older Wrangler was in the choices, I would have picked that. Not much of a luxury SUV kind of guy. Would also take an Escalade over either of these, hands down and no questions asked! -

The later C1 corvettes are still my favorite Corvette though, perhaps my favorite post world war two American car. -

The C3 cars are really under rated. I like the 78 Pace car and the 1969-1972 Chrome bumper cars the best, but there is a lot in that era to love! Would not kick a 96 Grand Sport out of the garage either. C5 Z06 is affordable even at my price range, and is a fantastic car in its own right. -
The Range Rover and the Cadillac are the only two of interest to me here. And honestly, there would only be one choice even though the Rover is nice... ESCALADE! It is an amazing vehicle, would love to see you do this.

I agree with this ranking in its entirety.

The world is sadly full of them.

Look for example at a car like the 2004 Lincoln LS with the V8. Jaguar is no longer producing parts or tooling for the 3.9, and there is not enough enthusiast interest to support the car long term. Thus it pretty much is a unicorn. same thing will happen with the 2015 Jetta I own. Shame because the car knocks down 50 plus MPG on the highway without much of an effort. Will be a big shock if I actually buy the WRX I am thinking seriously of.

http://redbullglobalrallycross.com/news/latestnews/red-bull-global-rallycross-add-electric-series-2018-season/ This should show some of the interest with the younger generation in electric cars, Red Bull is adding an electric division for Rallycross. given that the people into this are ninety eight percent under thirty...would they be doing this if it was not going to appeal to their target demographic? Would love to keep the Jetta but it is pretty much a one year only engine and emissions system, and will be hard to get parts for in a couple of years. Plus they are going to pay me twenty five grand for a car that is worth maybe 11 grand with the scandal.

It works really well for people not borrowing your car also.
