May 2014: Toyota Motor Sales
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in 2014 Sales Archive
One thing to look at is how low the average transaction price is for a Camry. Lower than even the old Chrysler 200...if I recall correctly. -

It is hard to beat the Americans in a lot of ways. Near luxury sedans, coupes, and pickups being the biggest three. Think of the difference in content and quality between a Genesis and a comparable Mustang or Camaro for instance. Audi is saving VW's bacon though....as they ain't selling VW's. -

Avalon is a nice piece. I still would prefer an Impala though. -

Interesting S2000 is still on the list. They discontinued it in what...2009? -

Your feelings would reflect mine in this matter. -
This is interesting. Even though VW has been here since 49, one gets the impression that they have never really understood the US market. And they need to US market for economies of scale, lest someone else who is marketing well here use that same efficiency of scale to encroach on VW's markets in Europe, South America, and China.

I bought a Cruze diesel
A Horse With No Name replied to 2QuickZ's's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Good luck sir getting this resolved. Car trouble is never any fun, even if the car remains working properly. How are you enjoying the rest of the car? My co worker with a Cruze was raving about his over lunch the other day, after driving to Miami and back from Columbus Ohio. -
It is enough to make a sedan lover out of me. As is the Regal.
-
Marketing would explain it. I love the Regal and think it should sell at three or four times the rate that it does.

Do they need more than Lincoln currently gives them? -
Probably should ask this in the Buick forum, but why are Regalnsales so weak? The Mazda 6 is a fantastic car, yes...but Mazda 6 is outselling it by over two to one.

May 2014: General Motors Co.

To me the Impala and Cherokee dominate their segment like nothing else. GM has also gotten their greens right lately. When I came out from work, I had a new Cruse in the new green parked next to the Mini. So good I could honestly see passing up a lot of other cars to get that green.
