I suck.
I suck also! I ran a couple of red lights...did a couple of things I knew were stupid...got myself tested...adult onset ADD. Saturday was driving with my wife after not taking my Adderol...almost ran another red light. Get yourself tested for ADD dude. I won't drive unless I'm medicated. Chris

Why so many problems witha NEW car
Meh...methinks minor teething pains. My next car may well be a MINI Cooper S...and it took them about two years of production to get them out of EPIC-FAIL mode. You don't want a 2002 or 2003 Cooper... GM is having MUCH better luck than BMW did with the MINI. Methinks they will get it sorted out. Chris

Cory drives a German supercar...
He does look good in that car, and I am jealous... How fast did he drive it... Chris

The Intrepid Project
Damn! Sorry about your luck DF...sometimes life just sucks...and it seems to suck for you right now. Not being sarcastic, I want to see this thing on the road as bad as anybody...but...DAMMIT MAN... Chris

What's your favorite military plane or jet?
One of the guys I used to work with, Bob, used to work as an airframe mechanic in the reserve. He got a ride in an F-16. Amazing plane...I think for us mortals, a brief ride along without puking is probably the best we can hope for. It takes real balls to fly those things. Chris

Sounds profoundly stupid perhaps but you might try HEMI mufflers. I've known a few guys to use them on street rods and Mustangs...nice, very low, quiet rumble. I'm talking about the repops of what Chryco put on the "real" Hemi cars back in the 1960's-70's. Think they are available from JEGS IIRC for not a lot of scratch, and IIRC they are stainless, so they last forever. And yes, I'm not kidding...a HEMI muffler would be a nice "heritage" touch for a MOPAR. You also might consider a low restriction CAT as well. IIRC one of the local Fox body Mustang guys lost like 4/10 in the quarter with just a free-flow cat on an older car. After 200k, yours is probably shot. Another idea...a local shop here will coat exhaust manifolds at a very reasonable cost with a high temp coating that lasts seemingly forever. All this for your car is prob. better than what one local shop does...motorcycle mufflers on Miatas. Although that sounds good in a very different way. Always nice to have other people spend your money for you, isn't it? Chris

Driving on a sevice call in a really rural part of Ohio...I ran across a couple driving a white Bently convertible. Not something you see every day. Chris

The Intrepid Project
Methinks a mild, muted, mellow, muscular rumble from the rear would be a fine finishing touch. Sorry to post slut in your Intrepic thread...but I'm glad this thing is coming together! Looking forward to more news. Chris

I'm bbbbaaaaccckkkk!!!
Glad things are turning around for you...now I just hope they turn a bit for Paulino, our other teacher as well. I really respect anyone that can teach. You and Paulino both seem to have a passion for it, which is rare. Glad to know your dad is okay... But the world is full of practical cars. You need another kappa. Chris

I've decided what my first "classic" will be....
If your wife is like mine, she will love having a 50's car, Dave. With my Miata and my 55 Chevrolet both, women of all ages seemed to notice. Doesn't matter if it is my 8 year old daughters girl scout troup or the 60+ year old women who work at the library...they just seem to notice. My mother grew up in the 1950's and she still talks fondly about 50's cars. (including my grandfathers 59 Buick, balthazar.) Two tone paint anc chrome, with neat upholstry, seems to go a long way with the fair gender...even females who don't like cars. As for the Cavalier....go for it dammit! I had an 85 Type Ten Cavalier coupe with a sunroof and a 5 speed. Had it when I got married in '88. VERY fond memories of that car...and if GM was still building THAT car...I may very well be writing them a check for a new one. And as a convertible owner, all I can say is that ragtops are wonderful! Today I drove curvy backroads home from work. I have a 45 minute commute...and I was blasting everything from Steve Vai to the Beetles at top volume on the stereo with the top down. Chris

Looking forward to seeing her after you get her home, cleaned up, and detailed. Sweet... That's the same 3.5 they used in the Prowler, yes? Wondering if there are any aftermarket speed parts...also...are you chaning the exhaust? Think you said you were changing the exhaust but I can't remember. Chris

10 worst automotive fads...
Wing on a Formula Continental, or a rally car, or an all out race car...SWEET! Wing on a Honda civic that can't run over a speed bump without rubbing the 18" wheels and loosing parts of the body kit...retarded. I'm with Camino...author of the article=Asshat. Chris

Oh, Crap
...and I'm sorry if my (very) weak attempt at humor was not taken well by you. We used to live near the OSU campus when my wife was in grad school and we had small children. What your going through really sucks...there are no good words for how it feels to wake up in the early ayem with noise. Wish you luck, bro. Chris
