  1. It's always sad to think of a nice old Pontiac going to the crusher. I had a co worker once who wold a nice 65 GTO to an idiot who totaled it. oh well...making the world safe for the Yaris and the Versa, I guess. Chris
  2. Interesting Pontiac GP link... http://www.classicalpontiac.com/gp/index.html 272 Hursts for 70, 157 for 71, 60 for 72. Not a high production automobile. The production figures for Manual tranny cars were very low. I also really liked the 65 Pontiac Grand Prix. Chris
  3. ...boys...let's not just make it horsepower...let's make it GM horsepower... BTW, how is the wagon, Camino? Chris
  4. ...although I have seen several Olds 72 Pace car copes (and 1970, as well) W the Hurst package...Damn...Camino it seems like I remember an actual Hurst GP from a car show in my childhood or teen years somewhere. Chris
  5. I recall the hurst as well. It just seemed odd to me that Pontiac would build a solid lifter 400 HO when a 455 would have been more in keeping with the "character" of the car. Chris
  6. I love the new Camaro, Mustang and Challenger...and wish there was a Firebird, Javelin, and Barracuda to go with them. However, I'm 43 years old, I've been a car fan since I was 6 or 7, and I've been around the older versions of these cars for say 35 years. Kinda wanting to go a different direction. But I still lust after the new Camaro. Chris
  7. I would like to know about the performance variants of the Grand Prix...sat down next to an old man at the local Waffle House eating breakfast the other day, and we started talking cars. Turned out he was a lifelong Pontiac guy, and his favourite car had been a 71 Grand Prix with of all things a solid lifter version of the Pontiac 400. Anyone here know how rare that car was? (he sold it in 83, so I'd venture to guess its sadly no longer around)Any other specs on the 69-72 Grand Prix models that were performance oriented? The old guys former GP was cool...bright yellow with a green interior and a green vynal top. THAT color scheme says 1971, fo sho... Damn shame we don't build cars like that anymore. In some ways I feel like it was all downhill for Pontiac after the last 74 455 SD TA rolled off of the line. Chris
  8. Instead of a group hug could we do a massive group burnout in the parking lot instead? Chris
  9. Getting back to cars...I enjoy Bimmerofrums, Miatanet, and SCCA Forums. Also enjoy TDIclub and VWvortex. But I rarely post on them. I love most of the guys here...just not in the Satty sort of way. DF, keep us posted on the intrepid. Since my next car is probably going to be a MINI Cooper S or a TDI Golf (GTI perhaps) I'll probably move over to North American Motoring (the MINI site). Chris
  10. It's also eco friendly because it's too ugly for anyone to actually buy.... Chris
  11. ...only if it comes with V-Tech and a 4 cyl that revs to 9 grand.... Chris
  12. I agree we should be able to get what we want. However, the automotive world is changing so fast that I doubt any of us will get what we really want. I want a Sosltice Targa...however...when I get in position to buy my next car, Pontiac will be gone and I'll have a GTI in the garage instead. Chris
  13. Sadly, I already really feel this way, sort of. Chris
  14. Actually everything here you've posted has been great, DF. Best of luck to you, DF. Chris
  15. ...and who wants to give up wages...the only thing making me keep my head above water is my wife's good job. I've lost real world wages over the past couple of years.... Chris
  16. Right now on a short trerm basis I think the Unions should make concessions. However, our greatest rate of economic growth came back in the 60's when we paid everyone a good wage. Look at the real rate of growth under Johnson and the real rate of growth under Reagan and tell me what you think. The real cure is for you to have a great design job, so you can put a Challenger in the garage next to the Dodge Intrepid. What people want to do is pay everyone peanuts, and in that world you and JessiChan will be wrenching on what's left of the Intrepid in a $h! apartment parking lot ten years from now. I am not Pro-Union...but someone has to fight for wages. Chris
  17. ....couldn't agree more, 84. Chris
  18. Hell, DF everyone is unemployed right now. I'd bet the real unemployment rate is closer to 14 or 15 percent if you take into account under employed and people who've given up looking, people working part time rather than full, etc. Chris
  19. We need writing like this. The fuel pump in my company vehicle, a chevrolet truck, took a dump on me. When AAA was droping it off of the rollback in front of our shop a bunch of passers by said that it was broken because it was "American" Right now we need all of the positive PR as can get. Chris
  20. Lucas electrical is alive and well! Seriously, I think the biggest problem with the VW is its dealer network in the US. In the VW TDI club we've got some guys who are ACE VW wrenches and all of our cars run great.... Chris
  21. I'd rather own a Jetta with a problem with a window lift motor problem than a Tacoma with a frame rust issue.... Chris
  22. ...the BPG Dealer in Chillicothe, Ohio had like 9-11 G-8's when I drove by the other day. Chris
  23. ...they can just put that Solstice Targa in my garage next to the Miata, please. Chris
  24. People in China do that for $3 a day....what are you complaining about.... When even Sushi and noodles become out of reach for us financially, maybe we'll start believing we've effed things up ourselves as a nation. The cure is to get you where you are making more than $14 an hour, not to tear down the wages of the UAW. Chris
  25. ...but they do need to update product. I for one think the wrangler is bloated. But bring me a Challenger with a six speed in Petty Blue, please. And make sure that it packs a Hemi. Chris
