  1. I hope so...I've known of a few "fallen off of the truck" stories myself. Chris Interesting note about the Tucker, BTW!
  2. About 14 or 15 MPG is about right for cars of the Era and size. Chris
  3. A bit of a rant, but these things happened over the last few weeks and I can't get over how dumb all 5 are. #1. My Buddy Steve runs a body shop, did the body work on my 71 Chevelle and my 55 Chevy and also has fixed my other cars, including the Safari van when it got hit by a truck. Steve took a BMW Salvage title rebuild down to the Ohio State highway patrol to get it checked out so he could sell it. He noticed a very nice 65 Corvette Convertible (red, restored) being hauled away with the impounds to a company that crushes cars. He asked them what they were doing with the Vette...and was told that they were crushing it for reasons they couldn't discuss. Why in God's green earth would you crush a 65 Corvette...much less a restored one? (I know this sounds like the stuff of Urban legend, but if Camino or one of the senior members here wants to PM me, I will give them Steve's # so they can verify this). #2. A garage in New Albany, an upscale suburb of Columbus had been around for 39 years and had a loyal customer base. Being in a neighborhood of expensive homes they lost thier "grandfather clause" and had to shut down. #3. My neighbor decides to put in a patio, so heorders a load of gravel. When the truck gets there, he tells the driver to put it in the street out in front of the house. So the driver backs into said neighbors driveway, tagging his Volvo with the dump truck. Driver realizes his mistake and pulls forward, but not before he has started tipping the dump bed...you guessed it, he pulled the Volvo forward with the dump bed and dumped 20 Tons of Gravel right on top of the car, and right through the now broken car windows. Actually, and amazingly, the car was still driveable once they dug it out. Damaged heavily, but driveable. #4. Dawn, a woman I know from the library, had a very nice 15 year old son...who decided to blow his brains out with a shot gun after he broke up with his girl friend. #5. We were setting new light poles in a parking lot when someone removed the lockout/tagout from the electrical panel feeding the parking lot lights and turned on the breakers. Never found out who did it, either. No one was hurt, but there is nothing like trying to swing a 30 foot piece of steel from a bucket truck and realizing your dealing with live electric. Just had to rant for a second, sometimes human stupidity is just...amazing. Chris
  4. Pauli, we all hope a Buick is in your garage soon! Chris
  5. Nice work Dave! And good luck on the classic car thing... Chris
  6. Love the car...and glad Kim is still with us. Chris
  7. I really don't like the Pathfinder either. Chris
  8. Not a car on the list I wouldn't love to own. Chris
  9. Happy birthday, guys! Chris
  10. Nice well written post...sorry to hear about your loss. Chris
  11. Or better yet flush most of the product lineup.... Chris
  12. I would agree, Pauli. Chris
  13. Before they gto raped by daimler, the Neon was a WONDERFUL small car. Chrysler certainly can build them...look at the slat siux darts and demons of the early 70's...great cars for the era. One wonders who's awake at the wheel in Auburn hills. Chris
  14. Ouch!...my grandmother passed away when I was 16, I am almost 43 now and I still think about her. Like Borger said, keep her alive in your memory. Chris
  15. Wow, love the white 58 Chev, the Nova is damn near perfect... Thanks also for posting the nice pics of the Ivy green mustang and the sweet 36 Ford. of all the cars there, I say I'd most like to have the 36 Ford stocker/resto...I am a sucker for restored 30's Fords and Chevy's...maybe the last one on the planet that doesn't want to see every blessed car turned into a street rod. But thanks again, Camino! Chris
  16. Considering it's been 6 weeks since I've seen either an Aura or an Astra in the wild (on the streets) this logic seems to be coming right from Toyota HQ. And GM marketing does stink, Astra and Aura are great cars and should be flying of of dealer lots....along with a whole lotta' Pontiacs, Buicks, and Chevy's. Chris
  17. Solstice GXP is a sweet car, go watch them run at Road America, Road Atlanta, VIR, Mid Ohio et al at SCCA races. Pontiac has another serious car your over looking. At the last runoffs (SCCA Championships) The Solstice was leading a frieght train of Hondas, Mazdas and BMW's for its class win. And GM won more races at the runoffs last year than anybody, more than Mazda, more than Ford, more than Porsche, more than BMW... Chris
  18. Abortion might be a more fitting word,Camino. Chris
  19. This Absolutely utterly, utterly, utterly has to be the post of the month! Chris
  20. My vote is going to be for Obama, I dislike McCain but I agree in the free market approach to things, but also agree that the "playing field" needs to be level. Chris
  21. With the price being right on the v6 car, I could handle that....hmmmm....me thinks the Miata might have a garage mate to keep it warm on cold Ohio nights! Chris
  22. It would certainly get my vote... Chris
  23. At my daughters high school graduation one of the parents pulled up in a Camry hybrid. You'd have thought it was an Enzo Ferrari driven by a naked supermodel given the response of people standing around in the parking lot. These things do have a fan base. Makes me long for my own high school graduation, where Oldsmobile was the car to own! I remember my dad pulled up to MY graduation in a nice looking 88...Now THAT was a car... Chris
