1. QUOTE(Pontiac Custom-S @ Jun 25 2008, 05:16 PM) What are you trying to say? ...that when Joanna (my 12 year old daughter) gets her wish and gets a beetle convertilbe there ain't a whole lotta chance of me borrowing it. Chris
2. I would love to be able to buy GM stock right now... Chris
3. We have two guys driving beetle Converts who are room mates and live in my neighborhood. They are both very masculine types, but I have to laugh when I see them cruising around in a baby blue beetle convertible. That being said, I drive a Miata and my teenage daughter wants us to get a beetle. I'll gladly drive a Mini or a Miata, but a beetle ragtop is pushing the limits a bit much for a guy... Chris
4. Personally, I sm sort of Biased...but IMHO after the 65 GTO, everything else is just a foot-note as far as muscle cars is concerned. Chris
5. Glad to see that she lives. When I was in high school Greta, my debate coach drove one of the pace car replica's. I remember many a Saturday A.M. getting up to go to an out of town debate tournament and watching her car pull into the 24 hour resteraunt where we all met...at 3 AM. That was one cool, cool Oldsmobile. My father owned a four door version of that olds the same color as the Bannana Boat. I miss that car too...I had a lot of fun dates in that car... Chris
6. Human stupidity has no limit. The president of a prevois company I worked at had 68k on an oil change in a Tahoe...he just kept topping it off. He reasoned...someone else is gonna get this car, it can become their problem... Chris
7. I'm sure they will sell each and every one of them...it's a premium car... Chris
8. Interesting, thanks for sharing this with us... Chris
9. Actually we have a couple of female electrical inspectors here in Columbus, and I actually think of your sister when one walks in on an inspection. Pauli-I really admire the work you do with kids. Your doing something I would love to do but don't have the chops or the patience for. And God I hope you find a good guy...I think you deserve to meet one. Good luck drinking yourself stupid over the summer...and good lukc with your classes guy. Chris
10. Sweatshop is a sweatshop. I don't feel any better about my jeans knowing that some 12 year old girl in Malaysia got paid 25 cents an hour to sew them. Chris
11. I agree, the (red and white) Olds is a much nicer car. Chris
12. As my old friend Eric said, life is like a pile of dog$h!. You work to get out from under a large pile, fight like crazy, get into the clear....only to have another load of dog$h! drop on you. But the OC (or the strip, now that he's in Vegas) is right, things will get better. Chris
13. Sucks to be under so much pressure as a teacher. Which is why I gave up teaching to become an electrician. I'll gladly put my hands in a 4000 AMP, 480 Volt three phase service to avoid dealing with school administration. Good luck, there are people here pulling for you dude. Chris
14. It may seem like you get no break, but it seems that God or nature or whomever has made you a basically smart, ethical, compassionate person who loves children, loves teaching, and is working to better himself. That may be all the break you actually need. Chris
15. I'm strait but...move here to Columbus Ohio, seriously. We are a very gay friendly city, the price of living is low, and there are TONS of guys in serious relationships or looking for serious relationships. My family goes to resteraunts/library/shops in the German Villiage area of Columbus, which is kind of the gay ghetto of the city. I know lots of gay men, most of them very attached to a long term partner. My mom is convinced that I would be better if I just believed God's words, as is my teenaged (17 yr old) daughter. However, I've never seen God's word, only the words of some really screwed up bronze age goat and camel herders who thought they had Gods word. Good luck with your mother, I know I'll never change mine. My Safari Van took an aquarium load of water when we had a flash flood. I was driving down spring street of all places when a wave hit the van during a big downpour. So I need to take cash out of savings and buy a car this weekend. One car for a family of 7 (wife and 5 kids) isn't working too well. As for the principal thing, the owner of my company is a goiod friend and a good guy but he is having problems running our electrical company. Last week he handed me the prints to a Chinese resteraunt that we were wayyy behind on (four month project, 2 days before turnover, job maybe 20% done) and says 'get it done." Got it done, took a week, but they should open Monday or Tuesday. Due to the poor planning of others, we've had to pull 4 other jobs out of the fire and I haven't gotten a day off in over a month. 14 hours of work on a Sunday is a bit much. My father in law taught school and his principal was a complete utter dickhead asshole of the century. I can really relate to where your at brother. I wonder often about what's going on with you, and will be thinking of you as you deal with this...which won't help much but you've got an electrician buddy in Ohio who shares your pain. As for the house thing, I could solve a lot of my problems by moving to a city with a better employment market for electrical work, but I'm stuck taking a lot less for my house here than I want if I do move. So I can feel the pain on the apartment thing. Sounds like you've got similar pains in life to me, and in a strange sort of way that makes me feel a little bit better. Sorry for the rant, good luck with things, and if you want a serious guy, seriously, try Columbus, Ohio. Chris
16. I would like to know WHY this car isn't getting better press/more people don't like it. Even with the price of fuel I am seeing very few on the road-I haven't seen one in the wild for a couple of weeks now, and this thing should be selling like hotcakes. Scares me for the future of GM. They've needed a great small car for years, they bring one out and no one cares. Chris
17. Oh, and when I took my required OSHA 10 hour safeto class, it was taught by an ex-GM employee who stressed how far out in front of the curve GM was in the 1960's and 1970's in terms of worker safety. I think GM has a legitimate track record of taking better care of its employees than toyota and Co. Chris
18. As much as I just utterly hate unions, I trust corporations/management/the guy in the front glass office even less. Chris
19. Seriously, though, I'd rather have a post/B pillar car in a tri-5 Chevy. My 57 Chevy was a proper hardtop and my 55 was a post and I just like the post car better...prob. because all of the old stock cars, gassers, and such were post cars, as well as the car in American Graffiti... Saw a beautiful gold 442 W-30 post car the other day, wouldn't kick it out of the garage... That being said, I love true hardtops. The Camaro looks great in white in the linky... As does the GTI Volkswagen... Chris
20. ...again, Fly glad to see you back... Chris
21. Here's again to a speedy recovery of the 'balt...shame it had to happen to such a nice car... Chris
22. Hopefully this scare will point us towards alternate sources. Chris
23. Nice to see your off on a project...keep us posted. XP, I know of a railroad crossing where the trains run through at 80 miles per hour, and it's busy....maybe you and I can put this thing out of its misery. Seriously though, once you love a car its hard to give it up. Chris
24. You are right, nothing built today holds a candle to this... Chris
