Ive never seen a amethest Cobalt on the street so it must not have sold that well.. there will be more changes for 2008, probably new front and rear facias and an upgraded interior.. if it dont get delayed the Cobalt will get a total redesign for the 2011 model year..
-
The Cobalt will get refreshed for 2008.. it wont be a whole new car.. the only thing that will probably change for 08 is maybe a new grille, revised front and rear facias, and a upgraded interior.. and the Cobalt sedan may get round tailights like the coupe.. we wont see an entirely new Cobalt until the 2011 model year..

yeah because in China, GM is considered an import.. and because they dont have the same "writers" and "editors" if you can call them that.. in China.. ive also renamed some of the magazines/newspapers to reflect their real "feelings"... Toyota Trend,=motor trend, HondaWeek, = autoweek The New Nissan Times, = the new york times, Lexus and Driver, = car and driver. BMW Today,= usa today

the G5 will more than likely have a GXP version with the 2.0L turbocharged ecotec.. im not sure if the cobalt SS will switch to this engine though.. if so they need to make the supercharged 2.0L avalible on the cobalt sedan.. im visiting GM Lordstown next week for a car show/tour.. so ill find out some information.. since i used to work there..
-
why they dont use the 3.9L HV as the base engine in this car dont make sense to me.. still making the 3800 dont make much sense eiether.. its only used in three cars now, the lucerne, lacrosse and the grand prix.. I think we are seeing the 3800 being phased out.. 07 or 08 will probably be the end of the line for the 3800..
-
there just isnt a market for large 2 door coupes like there used to be.. there used to be four W body coupes but now were down to one.. we have seen the eldorado and the rivera disapear without direct 2 door replacements.. if there is going to be a new chevelle or monte carlo it will probably be the same car as the next GTO but with a V6,and cloth seats standard, and probably some diffrent sheet metal..

Pontiac G6 Convertible Sells Out for 2006
cavalier36 replied to BigPontiac's topic in Heritage Marques
I wonder since Saturn is getting a version of the Astra are they going to send the hardtop convertible version as well?? this would be like a smaller G6 convertible and would sell for about $5,000 less than the G6.. probably one reason for the G6 convertibles success is because the owners of camaro and firebird convertibles are starting to replace thier cars.. -
i actually wouldnt mind them bringing back the Beretta name.. but please god dont let them bring back the Corsica nameplate!!!! the Corsica was one of the WORST products GM has ever made.. I know because i used to own one.. it had 90,000 miles on it and the thing was falling apart at the seams.. hard to belive that the same assembly plant now builds the Solstice and Sky.. this car was so bad, that i think for the last 3 years they produced it they probably sold half of the production to Alamo, National and Enterprise..

we all know the Camaro will have a V6 as its standard engine.. especially now with rising gas prices.. as of now there arent any RWD applications with the 3.5L or 3.9L but it probably wouldnt be much of a problem.. somehow i just dont see them using the 3.6L dohc engine in the base camaro.. it would be too expensive for a car that would start at around $21,000.. that and the same V6 that will be used in the camaro will also see duty in the Impala, the grand prix, and probably some sort of monte carlo replacement.. all those cars will probably carry a base msrp somewhere around 20-23G.. they could also possibly use a version of the same engine to power the base silverado pickup, the colorado and the hummer H3. the 3.5L and the 3.9L will probably soon replace the 3800.. with it just being used in a few buick models and the grand prix. now there isnt justification to keep producing it.. when they could use the 3.5L as the base engine in the lacrosse, and the 3.9L would power base Grand Prix's.. i think we will see the 3800 die after the 07 or 08 model year..

Saab does need some sort of "halo" vehicle.. maybe a sports car or some sort.. it would be ok for it to be a Kappa if it was a hardtop coupe.. and only shared the doors and the windshield with the Solstice.. given the right styling this car would probably sell in decent numbers.. the current 9-2 wasnt that much of a sales success, but there will probably be some sort of replacement.. now im not sure if a rebodied Cobalt would be the answer.. by the time this car was brought to market probably 08 or 09.the cobalt would be nearing the end of its life cycle.. the Cobalt will probably be redesigned for the 2011 model year.. the Cobalt will probably see some "mid cycle changes" for 08 and/or 09.. of which is hopefully an upgraded interior.. Saab will probably however recieve a version of the Lambda crossover.. but it needs to be really diffrent in styling compared to the saturn and GMC versions.. like no shared body panels except for the roof and the doors.. we probably wont see a new 9-3 until 2009.. it will be based on the epsilion platform again.. a new 9-5 could be based on the sigma or zeta platforms, but if they wanted to stick with FWD it would almost have to be based on some sort long wheel base epsilion..

GM to Build Chevy Cars in St. Petersburg, Russia
cavalier36 replied to Flybrian's topic in General Motors
I wonder what small car this will be?? will it be the Cobalt?? -
here is how id fix Saab.. 9-1.. this would be a hardtop coupe model derived from the kappa platform.. it would be a two seater.. this would be simular to the solstice but they would only share doors and the windshield with that car.. it would be built alongside the solstice and sky in wilmington del. 9-2.. current subaru based model would die after the 2007 model year.. 9-2.. this would be sold as a four door sedan and a 5 door wagon, in essence it would be a reskinned Chevrolet Cobalt, it would only share the underbody, windshield and roof with the cobalt sedan.. there would be no stripper model.. it would be built alongside the cobalt and G5 in Lordstown Ohio.. a few thousand a year would be exported to europe.. 9-3.. the current model is fine.. it will be replaced by a new epsilion platform model in 2008/09, would continue to be assembled in sweden. 9-4.. would be a small Suv built on the theta platform.. would be a reskinned next generation Saturn Vue.. 9-5.. this would move to the RWD sigma platform.. it would be a next generation reskinned Cadillac CTS.. although no exterior body panels except the roof would be shared with the CTS.. would be built in Lansing Mich.. 9-6.. would be a reskinned Saturn Outlook. be assembled in delta township mich. 9-7.. would die after the 07 model year..
-
I wouldnt be too suprised if they moved the next gen 9-5 to the Zeta or Sigma platform..
-
Buick really does need a large RWD sedan to compete with the Chrysler 300.. the Velite convertible they were talking about could be built in the same assembly plant as the Camaro and GTO.. really you would probably need two north american assembly plants for the Zeta platform cars.. one for the Camaro, Velite, Monte Carlo and GTO.. and another plant for the Impala, Buick sedan, and Grand prix/G8..
-
the Aura will get the 2.4L ecotec but only as a hybrid.. simular to the Vue green line.. im hoping for a Aura redline version.. with a 3.6L and 6spd manual combo.. I see the G6 competing more with the Accord than the Aura.. there doesnt need to be a stripper version of the aura.. if you want a base midsize go buy a malibu or a G6..
-
this was probably supposed to be a Pontiac originally.. but then it was changed to GMC after it was decided Pontiac will no longer have any Suv's or minivans after the torrent goes out of production.. this isnt a bad looking crossover.. looks a million times better than the vehicle it sort of replaces.. the aztec... these pictures show that this prototype already has the GM badge on the doors..
-
five if you count the one that Saab will get as the 9-6...
-
hate to tell you this but a Saab lambda is already in the works, it will be badged as a Saab 9-6.. they were going to base it on the subaru tribeca, but that program was scrapped when GM sold its share in Fuji.. the new Saab crossover will be based on the lambda platform, although it will feature diffrent front and rear facias, and a saab designed interior.. so after all is said and done we will probably have, Chevrolet, GMC, Saturn, Buick, and Saab versions.. i also cant figure out why GM cant build a competive minivan??? they have been building the same basic minivan since 1996!! all they have changed has been from the a pillar foward and redesigned the interior since then.. when is this new van due?? ive heard for the 2008 model year.. and that unlike now there will only be Saturn and Chevrolet versions of this new van..
-
I just dont see them making all Pontiac cars RWD.. atleast not the G6.. Id keep the G6 FWD.. here is what id do to Pontiac.. solstice: add a hardtop version, G3: this would be a new rwd small car, based on a long wheelbase kappa platform.. it would come in coupe and sedan models.. G5: would be replaced by the G3.. G6: this would be Pontiac's sole FWD car.. it would stay the same except i would drop the 3.9L and have the 3.6L dohc V6 as the top engine.. this is likely to happen in 2008 anyways.. GTO: a new one would be built on the zeta platform.. more retro styled.. G8/grand prix: this replace the grand prix, it would ride on the zeta platform and would essentially be a four door GTO.. but unlike the GTO it would come standard with a V6 engine.. Vibe: bye bye.. if there was to be a new vibe id move it over to saturn or chevrolet.. torrent: it would replace its arrowhead logo with a GMC logo.. SV8: already dead.. bonneville: id think about bringing it back on the long wheelbase Zeta..

GM Bans Dealer Premiums on Saturn Sky Red Line
cavalier36 replied to BigPontiac's topic in Heritage Marques
I dont think they should be allowed to charge over sticker.. do you think if you took that same car back 3 or 4 years later they would give you $5,000 more than the kelly blue book value??? of course not.. they would laugh in your face!!!! and if you financed the car after 3 years you would surely owe more than its worth.. -
I own a 2006 G6 GT with the 3.5L V6.. I absolutely love it.. I feel it is on par with the accord and altima.. it dont really "feel" like a GM car.. I have to look at the steering wheel to make sure that arrow head really isnt an H... it seems very well put together, no squeeks, no rattles.. I drove the G6 with the 2.4L and wasnt too impressed with it.. it was too slow, and felt a bit "buzzy".. so i decided to go with the 3.5L V6.. im averaging about 29 mpg on mixed driving so that isnt bad. but fuel economy is worse than my previous car a 2004 cavalier, i used to get around 36 mpg in the cavalier.. and thats about the only thing i miss about that car.. this G6 and the cavalier is no comparision.. the only thing the cavalier would win is fuel economy, and you would get close to that with the 2.4L G6..
-
I have a 2006 G6 GT, I abolutely love it.. I would put it up against an Accord, Camry, Altima or Fusion anyday.. alot better than my previous car a 2004 Cavalier.. in fact they dont even compare..
-
especially for the convertible.. the Pontiac G6 convertible is the same car just diffrent sheetmetal, diffrent interior and diffrent engines..
-
it will be a 2009 model not a 2010.. production should start about two years from now.. I havent heard them confirm an assembly site yet.. but this plant will also produce the next gen Pontiac GTO, which we should also see as a 09 model.. hopefully we will see a GTO concept as the 2007 auto show in detroit.. I could see the GTO competing more with the challenger and the camaro going after the mustang..
-
one of the reasons HEALTHCARE!!! ,, they will find another country to build them that will be cheap.. hell build them in Iraq, Iran or afghanistan.. then the only problem would be having to worry about the plant being blown up..
