  1. I'd go with the CXL V6 on the Buick... I loves me the 3800. Please don't kill me. The 3800 is more economical but if I won gas money with the car, I'd go N*. See, the weather where I live is often touch and go and often we have snow on the ground from October into June. FWD is better for traction on ice because I don't want to put sandbags in my trunk to weigh it down.
  2. I hear that with the new-design Alberta license plates, that we'll be going back to front plates as well actually.
  3. For Me (Including Parents & Grandparents) In no perticular order. Green= Still Have Blue= Sold Red= Totaled 1947 Dodge ? 1957 Ford Fairlane 1957 Sunbeam Station Wagon 1962 Sunbeam Station Wagon 1956 Cadillac DeVille 1955 Cadillac Series 62 1973 Austin Marina 1979 Ford Fiesta 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible 1965 Chrysler Newport 1967 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Coupe 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass-S 1973 Datsun 240Z 1978 Pontiac LeMans 1989 Pontiac Grand Am 1994 Pontiac Trans Sport 1989 Ford Tempo 1999 Chevrolet Venture 1994 Dodge Neon 1996 Ford Windstar 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx 2002 Chevrolet Venture 2005 Chevrolet Venture 1985 Chevrolet Caprice Estate 1975 Pontiac Acadian
  4. The evidence shown by the v shaped rear window bottom, the shape of the taillight assembly, and the evidence of a chrome accent strip above the taillights indicates we may be looking at a throwback to the 1959 Impala.
  5. Beautiful Car! Did it have chrome wheels?
  6. Looks like they took the headlights right off an impala... We'll see the finished product before I decide if I like it.
  7. If the grille was about 3/4 the size it is there, it would be quite a bit better.
  8. Thanks for the head's up, Chris. Christmas comes early this year I see.
  9. Without a doubt... Not every car's mileage is publicly recorded though.
  10. My aunt had trouble with the timing belt on her '98 V70XC. Seems like a common problem.
  11. I had a sighting last summer, I spotted what I thought was an oversize star, but it was slightly visible with binocs, it didn't move and pulsed from yellow to orange to purple to blue to green to red to white etc... later on there were three of them and they were stationary.
  12. It was mentioned in an earlier thread that the existence of cars with more than 300'000 Miles (esp. American Ones) should be documented to prove their existence... Have you personally come across any or seen any in your perusals of the internet?? I just found these today: 1996 Saab 900 with 1.4 Million KM http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detaili...gno=2&srt=1 2003 Saturn ION with almost 770K Km http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detaili...gno=1&srt=1 2003 Chevrolet Malibu w. 800K Km http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detaili...gno=1&srt=1 Have any of you come in contact with cars that have this kind of mileage?
  13. Aviation actually contributes significantly less to greenhouse gasses and pollution than you might think.
  14. Cape Breton (already got sizable a chunk of land near where the picture was taken):
  15. I checked out JD Power's archives of this survey going back to 2001 (1998 M/Y Cars) and the Century was still on top, Regal runner up (for every single one). LeSabre and/or Park Avenue shared top spot for Full Size for a good chunk of that too.
  16. I wouldn't think so, as the 3400 head gasket problems were resolved around 2004-2005. That was the main big problem with the 3400 and I assume it was corrected, the engine hasn't proven itself though. I've got a 2006 Malibu Maxx 3500 non VVT, and I'm wondering about it too.
  17. Now I've driven a 2006 Lucerne CXL V6 on an extended rental in the maritimes, and It was a good car, I wasn't familiar with it at the time, but when I mashed my foot too the floor on the highway on the way away from the airport, I concluded that it either had a supercharged 3800 or a N* but I looked under the hood, I saw the basic 3800, and was summarily shocked. I personally like the 3800 and given the choice, I'd take a 3800 Lucerne over a N* Lucerne based on economy alone.
  18. They got the head gasket problem worked out by 2003... That's a whole different 3100 series anyway, the Series II is on the Lumina, 1997+Cars had the 3100 Series III, which had the head gasket problem solved, if not in from the beginning, definitely before 2000. It's the pre 2004 3400 Vehicles you should be afraid of. I agree with 68, get the Caprice and sell it for a slight profit later.
  19. If it's a Oldsmobile that could be saved, I get bothered, especially Auroras, Eighty-Eights, Ninety-Eights and Toronados. B-Bodies Too.
