2016 (all new) Chevy Cruze LT 1.4t automatic
ocnblu replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
Hmmm... Cruze wins in things that are important to me... quickest car in test, quiet, smooth ride, tied for best economy while having turbo thrust... well done, Chevrolet! -
I do like the Sonic. Local dealer has about 4 1.8L hatches with stick, tempting in times of 20% off MSRP... but then I think I'd have to have the turbo, and I am a sucker for the newest thing, and the 2017 takes care of the gimmicky instrument cluster and the hard to clean headlights of the current. Fiesta ST is fantastic of course, but I am thinking I'd be hooning it all the time, and that would kill mileage, and maybe even myself, so I hold off on that. Right now, local dealer has loaded up on Trax LTs. I am fantasizing on the brown one with deluxe black and brown cloth and vinyl interior. With gloss black wheels and stock size off-road tires, it would be a little beast. I like the current look of the Trax... but the 2017 has a nicer interior by the looks of things... so... ???

Two mile walk this morning. Mowed my yard. Washed my deck. Went to gymnasium, alternated jogging laps in pool and going into sauna. I am going to sleep well tonight. -

Slowing before turning. I see no issue here, as long as their brake lights work.Braking before turn signals should be no problem---were you tailgating? The turn signal comes on WELL before the brake lights. This courtesy lets the person following time to give the turner plenty of room to slow for the turn, plus make sure the people behind the second person are well clear to prevent an accident.

Fiesta ST has become my loved one for this week.

Jeep News: Current Jeep Compass and Patriot To Stick Around For 2017
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
There are pretty clear spy photos of the Compass/Patriot replacement making the rounds over onto the interwebs. It looks like a junior Grand Cherokee in the front, and the rear looks like a cross between a junior Grand Cherokee and slightly bigger Renegade. -
People who put on their BRAKES before they turn on their TURN SIGNALS should be stripped of their privilege to drive. PERIOD.

Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback To Start At $22,190*
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
The 2017 Order Guide states the LT hatch is available with manual transmission, which excites me. I do like the Atmosphere interior color on the new Chevys. I am wondering about the new exterior colors for 2017. "Pepperdust" is one of the choices... when I think of pepper dust, I think of black pepper ground so fine, it looks tan-ish. Not sure what to expect. I do know I am already sick of seeing the hatch in ORANGE BURST METALLIC. I really wish something like Dragon Green (on the Sonics in 2016, gone in 2017) were available on the '17 Cruze... although the Arctic Blue sounds spiffy... plus a straight Black is a choice for the hatch only. -
Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback To Start At $22,190*

I've read many recent articles stating the hatchback bodystyle is trending upward in sales over the next few years. I believe it. -
We got two in, black and gray. Salesmen needed to pick up a car we worked on so they came over in it. Seems bland boxy and dated. Dash is decent. I asked them about the '17 Encore, they had no clue when on those.

I checked my control arms this morning. Still good. GM doesn't tell me what to do.

May 2016: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US LLC
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in 2016 Sales Archive
Don't make me post the same guy's test video of an Escape on the same off-road route. I was comparing prices of the Escape SE Sport AWD 1.5L v. the Renegade Trailhawk. The Ford is a bigger vehicle for about the same price, with comparable fuel mileage ratings but a bigger fuel tank. But it makes not even a pretense of being off-road capable, even on the occasional lark. It's just the "readiness" of the Jeep that makes it appealing, that and its totally Jack Russell looks. Plus the Jeep 2.4 is naturally aspirated. For someone looking for a sedate tall wagon with all-weather road driving security, the Escape is nicer than a majority of the competition. The Equinox/Terrain, for example, have not aged well, especially the interiors. I love the looks of a Canyon Ridge Escape SE AWD Sport... GM's attempts at staying current with the Equinox/Terrain have been half-hearted. The latest RAV4 is super ugly since the MCE. The CR-V looks like a platypus. Nothing beats the Jeep for image, and the Renegade and Cherokee can back up their swagger with a measure of better performance in adverse conditions. No other CUV can touch them... except maybe certain Subarus... and then you are relegated to a CVT... unless you want to search a 500 mile radius for a stick shift. The most important thing that gave the Patriot a new lease on life is the conventional 6-speed automatic transmission. It is interesting to me seeing the Patriot parked next to a Renegade on the Jeep lot... the Renegade is visibly much taller... kind of like when the old, beloved small Cherokee was replaced with the Liberty. The Liberty seemed taller and shorter than the old Cherokee. The Patriot's looks are a warm and fuzzy throwback to that old Cherokee, and that is part of its charm.- 39 replies

20% off MSRP is the current incentive for 2016 Sparks, Sonics and Impalas, for example. Very good.

The two things I did not care for in my Patriot were the CVT and the tiny fuel tank. Other than that, I enjoyed it.- 39 replies
