  1. Passat TDi it is then. Post pics as soon as you get it!
  2. I support this idea... niche models within the Silvy/Sierra line. Heck, just a cheap Sport trim package, a la F-150 STX or Ram Express would spice up the Chevy line.
  3. I finally "get" the title of this here thread/slice
  4. Looks great so far!
  5. You have a good one, sir.
  6. "26 models, 18 colors, 76 interiors!" How I wish for simpler, more complicated times. When a man (or wawman) could order a new car from the factory exactly the way he (or she) wanted it.
  7. Stupid. If the requirement was for a ridiculous hybrid, how'd it get picked in the first place?
  8. Justin, go get my belt!
  9. That is a nice one! After a disastrous start with the FWD X-bodies, these A-bodies just ran and ran. I still see a lot of these on the road, even here in PA, where rust usually cuts a good car's life short.
  10. Mr. Lutz, you have my love and respect, but this is a bad investment, sir.
  11. Thanks for answering that, it's been bugging me.
  12. My first new Impala, a gray LTZ in the gymnasium parking lot. Such a quantum leap over the outgoing model, full of presence. Beautiful inside and out.
  13. bugs
  14. $3.56 here in my neck of the woods.
  15. Autoblog has given a Cruze diesel review that seems just about right. The car is well done with a list of positive attributes to recommend it, and GM deserves praise for putting it in our market. But a Volkswagen Jetta TDi starts out less expensive, offers a choice of transmissions and trims, and delivers a sportier (by a good tad) driving experience. Plus it has all those millions of miles of Volkswagen diesel proof behind it. This is a great opportunity for GM. I wish them success with the Cruze diesel... even if they are positioning it rather selfishly by packing it with profit-padding kit that some economy-minded shoppers might not be interested in. The Passat is a huge car in comparison to the Cruze, and it would offer comparable real-world economy in a very competitively priced package. But I would not blame anyone for going with the Chevrolet. If GM trains their service providers properly...
  16. I just think this is an interesting little Euro bus. I hope it sells well.

    Sacrilege

I am glad Chrysler is doing well these days. They deserve some love.
  18. Had a nice Memorial Day weekend moment yesterday. We fixed a 1997 Oldsmobile involved in a minor accident, and the customer came in to pick it up. He had just come from a stress test, 87 years old. He gave us a muscleman pose as he told us he passed, surprised he was still here, he said. He was happy to get his car back. He had been drafted in 1945, near the end of the war. He was slated to ship off to Japan for a ground invasion when the decision was made to try the bomb instead. The bombs worked, as we know, and possibly thousands of young lives were saved. So, instead of summer gear, they were given overcoats... off to Italy instead. He saw the world. He was spared. He thanked me for showing him kindness, but I was the one who came away richer. Thank you, veterans.
  19. I love my Volkswagen TDi. It's perfect for my current life and situation.
  20. Well, good luck to your father. I hope someone who reads this is in a position to help.
  21. I'm very pleased with the fact that the U.S. version has now been confirmed by Chris Doane spy photos to have a real truck front end, with a grille similar to its big brother.
  22. A fool and his money are soon parted.
  23. OC Spring is always a real treat, after the doldrums of winter. I wish I could have gone this year, but I had stomach problems last week and didn't feel like traveling. Dad and his wife were there in her green '72 LeMans. Thanks for posting, Balthy!
