I never filled out my sales survey from the dealership, because I felt that I could not give him all 10s that he pleaded for and I didn't feel like going there. To me, the salesman is a blip in a long-term relationship. It's the service department that has to be good, imo, and despite the rocky start with the missed appointment (not their fault, it was the salesman's, I have a hunch) and the clueless service helper girl, things might be OK there. My salesman was there that day. He was working a couple in their 60s, so I only had a chance to say hello after the mini-debacle of the phantom appointment and the birdbrain service helper chick. Didn't want to get into any negativity right there in the showroom while he was busy. If he hadn't been busy, then I would have told him everything. The only one I filled in was the VW vehicle quality survey from VWoA. Surveys are a part of my business, as well. I love getting good ones, of course, from customers. I know that sometimes, despite our best efforts, we cannot make everyone happy though. It's this "both sides of the fence" thing that has me hesitant to rip them a new one.

Aw man, sorry to hear, Moltie. Dogs are the greatest creatures.

When I took delivery of my car on March 7th, my salesguy insisted that I make an appointment for my free 30-day checkup. We agreed on April 6th @ 9 a.m. So I pulled in to the drive-in service area yesterday morning as scheduled. Only they did not know I was coming. And the girl who goes out to get the VIN and mileage off the car didn't know ANYTHING about how to operate the car. She tried to put the key in the ignition several times. She was confused because the ignition cylinder is blanked off. It has push button start. Then she started pushing buttons on the dash to try to bring up the mileage. And she reset my trip odometer to zero while she was fumbling around, so she blew my fuel mileage check for this tank. The service advisor, a handsome ginger guy with a beard, heard me muttering to myself "DON'T TRY TO PUT THE KEY IN!" several times as I watched her through the picture window, so he rushed out. I went out too. She was laughing about it. I was not amused in the least. "Ohhh... what did I do?" But he remained professional, and they got me out in a timely manner. Not happy with salesguy for not following up with the appointment after pressing me to pick a date on the day of delivery. And bitch will not be touching my car again. On a lighter note, still loving this thing.

Diesel with manual is the way to go, imo. Love the torque, love the control. The simplicity and the real world fuel mileage, which has consistently and soundly exceeded the EPA estimates.

I hope so. Homie ain't playin' no tadpole Chevy truck nonsense. Ain't nobody got time for that. -

Chrysler News: A Diesel Chrysler 300? Its Being Considered
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
It is a fantastic idea, but to price it so no one buys it defeats the purpose. Base model to base model, the VW Beetle TDi is $3,500 more than the 2.5 gas. In addition to the engine, satellite radio is included with TDi. I feel it is well worth it for the diesel engine over the 2.5L 5. Just another perspective. -
Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon To Arrive In Late 2014?
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I'd like to see 2.5 DI 4 base, 2.9 Duramax and 4.3 DI V6, with 6 speed manuals and 8 speed autos available across all engines and configurations. -
Thanks again for the well wishes, folks!

Thanks a lot for the B-day wishes. Much appreciated.

I see a blend of '68 and '69 in the current car. The lack of speed lines off the wheel arches erases a blatant '69 vibe for me. It has the smooth sides of the '67-'68, but with the quarter panel hash marks from the '69. The front is so-so '69, or '67-'68. The taillights are unique, set in a rear end that could be '67-'69 inspired. I would like to see the next car break clean from the past... but it must have the FEEL of a Chevy Camaro in the design. The '70-'73 would be a great place to look for a bit of inspiration, but not as a carbon copy.

One thing I like about this new CTS is... the low, hovering, heavy front bumper. It certainly adds presence. Makes me think of this, and many other great Cadillacs.

Thanks, uncle dave! Yup, I will, heading off to work then, in a bit.

It tells me that the SS is destined for a limited run. They wouldn't put the Impala name on such a thing. I don't think the Impala name is going anywhere, but clearly, SS is a test of waters.

Chevrolet News:GM Announces Some Details On Their New Trucks
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Haha, hybrid fullsize trucks are a complete waste of money and time because they give no benefit. A diesel engine in the half tons is what is needed for max, usable economy and dead solid reliability, with great pulling torque. Still, they've done a great job with the new 5.3. We've got to remember that EPA fuel mileage tests were revised downward a few years ago. GM trucks have long been real-world economy champions. They won't let that title go, regardless of EPA mileage ratings. It's the real world that counts. -
????????????????????? Srsly? I am seeing the direct opposite. The FWD, yellow False140 is a chick, or twink car. The RWD, gray Code130RS is clearly meant for men.

Well, here we are, another month over. Spring is finally showing some muscle against Old Man Winter. It might be time to get out there and spot some cool or unusual vehicular conveyances. So... have at it, here in this thread!

I used to ride to school every morning in a then-new '79 Cougar XR-7, light green with dark green landau top and dark green vinyl bench interior. It belonged to my step-cousin. He put Cragar S/S wheels on it, wider ones in the rear, and air shocks on the rear to raise it up. That was how all the cool kids did it in 1979.

This '78 Thunderbird's in good shape:

My mammary has dried up on these. I knew it was at least a '78-'79 midsize Ford product, but I was thinking the milton burl wood treatment was reserved for Mercury. I was thinking Fords had normal grain wood. '79 Cougar... '78 non-XR-7 Cougar...

Both fenders are showing rust at the wheel lips, and I do believe I see at least one rocker rusting out (passenger side). The bed corners are rusty at the tailgate chains. Brown makes it hard to see, need better pictures. Plus I have never seen a fade style secondary paint job like this from the factory. Not saying I know about all the factory packages, but during the juncture in time that this truck was built, there were quite a few conversion companies in business, doing this type of thing. Still, it is a sweet little truck. I was a fan of these.
