It seems mainstream automakers in their effort to get their first volume EVs out (thinking of the Bolt and Leaf in particular) went down the path of being weird or radically different looking from everything else to get attention, rather than making something normal looking or a variation of an existing model. Toyota similarly did this with the Prius and Mirai, Honda w/ the first couple Insights and the Clarity. Are we now at a point where a dedicated EV can look like a normal model and be accepted? M-B is going this way, will be interesting to see a mainstream brand do it...

This is weird. I can create a new topic in here, but can't add a comment to the EV-curious thread.

I don't have the option to comment on the thread, only follow, yet others that are Members and Premium Subscribers (as I am) are commenting on it. What's up with that?

Speaking of the Gladiator, got a fold out Gladiator mini-brochure (top edge shaped like a mountain range) in the mail along w/ a card from my CDJR dealer inviting me in to test drive the Gladiator...

August 2019: Toyota North America

The 4Runner is quite capable off-road, but is a decade old now and the styling is rather homely, IMO. -
1934ish Chrysler Airflow, I believe. The Airflows were a bold move stylistically, helped usher in streamlined designs amidst the early 30s bricks.

It's funny, I remember my next-door neighbor in Phoenix loved the QX...he had a maroon QX56 and later a black QX80. -
About the only google app I use often is Google Maps. Having Google Maps as alternative to the factory nav would be nice. I use Google Maps on my iPhone, is Google Maps accessible via Car Play (if you have it on an iPhone) or Android Auto (if you have it on an Android Phone)? I don't use voice assistants, so that wouldn't be useful to me.

August 2019: Toyota North America

The Rav4 has some very Jeep styling cues in the squared off wheel wells w/ raised black edging and the overall profile. It looks pretty good for the segment. Though the CR-V has sexier taillights. -

It's outselling the Tacoma and Tundra combined, and ahead of the Camry and Corolla.. wowza -
I hate coin change...so I try and avoid using cash whenever possible...but I still end up w/ a lot of change in my cupholders and center console bin.. I drive down to 1/8th tank then fill up when home in the burbs, on road trips I'll let it get down to half a tank if it's an unfamiliar area..

I like how the dash has a very 911 style gauge cluster.. and the use of the touch screens is better integrated than Tesla's giant screen. Looking forward to seeing this in person along w/ the Audi etron GT.- 39 replies

Probably better built, though...high strength steel and CF instead of Tesla's glued-together cardboard , plastic and aluminum (Teslas seem poorly assembled with subpar materials).- 39 replies

Lamborghini Unveils 808 Horsepower Hybrid

Yeah, I frequently get my Jeep to 75-80 or more at the merge point when entering traffic on Ohio freeways..was harder to do in Phoenix w/ the metered ramps--there 0-60 is more important. (or some freeway entrances in CA--0-30 with the gridlock and super short ramps). -

As it says in the article, 'overboost mode'.. Interesting, but these trims start considerably higher than the Model S tops out I think...so this is playing at a higher price point..- 39 replies

A diesel seems to be more for someone that wants to go cray cray and try for 250k miles with a vehicle..... but the electronics will probably go bad long before 250k.
