  1. Appears to be only one seat in this pic of a prototype from 2018..they've been road testing them for a while.
  2. Hopefully not, I'm assuming all the engineering is being done in Detroit... probably not much carried over from the Stelvio, considering it will considerably larger..
  3. I don't parallel park or back into spaces, but I find the camera quite useful in backing out of my driveway (I've spotted random joggers in the dark on the sidewalk w/ the camera, etc), backing out of parking spaces (esp. when I have bigger vehicles on each side of me).... with the small rear and side windows and thick pillars I have plenty of blind spots.
  4. Reminds me a bit of the CT6 and other recent designs.
  5. Yes, which is fine; it is a RWD/longitudinal engine platform, not vile FWD/transverse. Will be interesting to see how the 2021 turns out. But I'm probably looking at getting a '19 or '20 Summit or Overland CPO for my next one...stick w/ WK2 for a while.
  6. I would never consider the Acadia or other GM CUVs because of the lowly FWD/transverse engine platform. If they made a 2 row SUV on a proper platform I'd consider one.
  7. This thing is just a CUV, though, not an SUV...it's on a transverse FWD platform..just another generic CUV, not unlike the Acadia and others from GM..lease appliances...
  8. Gak...that much CF is nausea-inducing.
  9. Exactly. Only journos and brand obsessives care about such nonsense.
  10. Bingo..it has nothing to do with Baby Boomers, been around long before that. I like a tasteful use of chrome trim, instead of the current faddish black out treatments....too many white SUVs w/ black wheels and trim--when will that fad end? Likewise with carbon fiber visible on anything but a race car...carbon fiber is hideous looking, IMO. Along with the stupid matte finish wraps...another dumb fad of this era. I associate the black out and matte finish looks with Millennials, but i realize the appeal of it spans generations. I do like actual monochromatic (everything body color) trim treatments of the late 80s and 90s, but only in that context--wouldn't look good today, IMO. Just like fins and wide whitewalls--only appropriate in the late 50s-early 60s. Context-specific usage. Keep in mind 78 and 76 aren't Baby Boomers--they are of the generation before that. (Baby Boomers are 1946-1964).
  11. Non-sequitor. There is no point in comparing a compact CUV with a Camaro or Mustang. Different niche, different buyers.
  12. I guess the only positive to overwrought Toyota (and Lexus) front ends is as a driver you can't see them from the driver's seat. The vertical elements at the edges remind me of similar nonsense on the Silverado. They should have made the grille fill the entire front with the headlights inset into it...
  13. One could do their own DIY version of this by mounting Ring stick up cams on the outside of their car and connecting them to their phone wifi...
  14. And they have the GLA for a 2 row w/ more of a coupe profile. Well, they already have a couple compact 2 row models--the GLA and GLC...
  15. That third row looks tight...for small kids only
  16. Yeah, I had to replace a whole mirror assembly on my Jeep when the lower surround of it was cracked. Was $380 to replace (incl. labor). Have to take off the interior door panel to unbolt it and disconnect the wires..
  17. I got the extended warranty on my CPO Jeep for 7 years/100,000 miles. I don't plan to keep it past 100,000 miles so I figured it was worth it.
  18. Compact and midsize mainstream BEV CUVs could go a ways towards mainstreaming BEVs. A subcompact like the Bolt is limited in appeal.
  19. Suzuki builds a lot of Kei cars and tiny cheap cars in developing markets...maybe Toyota wants more of that...
  20. I was only thinking about real world consumer sales... I don't know if the military market accounts for much anymore for LR...militaries seem to use a lot of custom build stuff anymore..
  21. Probably a handful off road fans in the UK care about solid axles, but I suspect 99.99% of potential buyers don't care.... it just doesn't matter...the Explorer has never been a serious off-roader, hasn't had a solid axle in a few generations, the Grand Cherokee lost it's solid front axle in '05 w/ the WK generation, etc.
  22. Wish I had mad phat Photoshop skillz.... like to see how a Bolt would look if the front looked like a scaled-down Silverado HD. Or with a Camaro inspired front like the Blazer.

  24. Salt corrosion. I remember that style of Clark stations in small towns in Ohio back in the 70s-90s, but in color.
  25. The side window treatment and front fender remind me a lot of the early 70s Holden Monaro coupe.
