Haven't seen a Kona on the road yet, but have seen several Kia Niros around. Saw a new brown Panamera in a driveway down my street this evening. Much nicer styling than the 1st gen. Random observation--Buicks seem to be quite popular in Parma, Ohio. At my Giant Eagle grocery I saw a bunch this afternoon--Enclaves of both generations, several LaCrosses of different generations, 3 Encores, an Envision, Also had some tasty flautas and a margarita for cuatro de mayo..

Lincoln News: Lincoln: We're Still Committed to Cars

Platform sharing..I'm sure the XTS can similarly be priced up much higher than other models it shares a platform with.. or a Lexus ES compared to a Camry.- 43 replies

Why EVs Have a Long Road Ahead
Robert Hall replied to ccap41's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Horses also needed to off-load processed content as well as fill-up also. Non-sequitor, filling up the average car or SUV even from nearly empty is way faster than 45 minutes... -
Saw another '06-07 Monte Carlo, this one silver and very worn--one taillight cracked out, mangled rear quarter, and plenty of rust. Saw a very clean dark gray Buick LaCrosse Super (the V8 model)...haven't seen one of those in years... And in a bit of randomness--saw a couple driveways of cross shoppers---one driveway had a white Grand Cherokee, white Explorer, and white Highlander--all late model. Another had a black Grand Cherokee and a black Merc GLS.

Saw a very clean very beige shortbed Chevy pickup, approx. 1983 going by the grille. Had dual exhausts and a nice rumble. Also saw a silver Camry with a 'Camry Nation' decal...I guess every model of car has it's own fandom..

And the idea of $40k for a subcompact is laughable... -
Why EVs Have a Long Road Ahead

Interesting read... too much drama and range anxiety for a simple road trip. Electric vehicles and charging infrastructure still have a ways to go to beat the simplicity of ICE reality...I take off on a drive, knowing there are gas stations everywhere, it takes 5 min at most to fill up, and I have a 25 gallon tank and get 20 mpg, nothing to stress over... -
The Pacifica and Durango fill the family hauler niche, Jeep doesn't need to go there..

There are days occasionally in Phoenix where it would get too hot for planes to take off and they would shut the airport...like the day last June when it was 120.

Land Rover News: Rumorpile: Land Rover's Entry-Level Plan
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Land Rover
Yes, they need to add smaller and larger models, off road focused ones, convertible versions for Jaguar, coupe and sedan SUVs, etc. Room for at least a dozen more models across the 3 brands.- 6 replies

Fun....one of my favorite spots to view them is at Honolulu airport..the way the airport is laid out, there are open (covered) walkways between the gates and you will be walking along and find yourself within 50 feet or so of one parked at the gate...they are so huge in person. Used to love taking the British Airways 747s from Phoenix to London.

Back in 07-08 when I was living in Denver and doing a gig at Jeppesen (Boeing subsidiary that makes aviation charts and charting software), I went to a few internal videoconference presentations about the 787...aviation is a fascinating domain... complex products and complex systems...

Something odd about that floorpan.

Since it was almost 80 and sunny today, went to the beach after work then out for seafood for dinner. Restaurant is in a building from 1865 that was once a hotel.

Hyundai News:Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup is Still Coming
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Hyundai
It is an interesting list.. I've lived in 3 of the top 15, and there are a 1/2 dozen others in there I'd consider living in (some w/ strong tech economies).- 42 replies

Nice sunny day today so far...went out for a short walk w/ the dogs, and saw a very clean dark mid '90s Buick Park Avenue driving down my street..

I've probably driven at least a dozen of them (along w/ as many Town Cars) from around 2000-2012...were my favorite rental cars. Always liked them, had an old school big car feel w/ the neat column shift. Even drove a Crown Vic in Hawaii w/ a sunroof. Driven them in LA, Nor Cal, Ohio, S Florida, etc..

Oddly saw two Milans earlier today around my neighborhood..a beige one parked in a garage next to a Grand Marquis, and a silver one parked on the street... Saw an '86-87 Grand Prix in gold this evening...paint was nice and shiny, but the body was raggedy w/ rust around the edges...also saw a very clean dark gray Mercedes 560 SEL (W126).

Saw a sharp '87 Buick Grand National this morning.
