  1. About the only current US Benzes I'd consider leasing would be the GLE, GLS, E-class coupe, E-class wagon...
  2. The LWB Escalade and other Suburban-sized SUVs are pretty much a US novelty...since MB competes in world markets, I can't imagine the need for them to compete in that niche. Though I suspect the rumored NG GLS-based Maybach SUV will be offered in a longer wheelbase version than the GLS..
  3. The G8 would have been cool badged as a Grand Prix or Bonneville...
  4. Interesting... Interesting...I've never traded a car w/ a loan still active, I've always paid off a vehicle first then later traded. Sounds like it's a common use case, though.
  5. Nissan probably wisely chose not to offer a regular cab/short bed combo, it would have sold maybe a few dozen units annually, at most? No demand anymore for such a body style...I think Ford and GM offer such a combination, but I can't recall the last time I saw one...
  6. TPMS do seem to have some fluctuation. Mine seem to be uniformly at 39lbs, but sometimes one or two tires are a pound or two higher or lower. When the new tires were first installed, the left front read 75lbs. Had to let some air out.
  7. It is pretty funny...who knows, this could have been scripted to get publicity.
  8. The Titan was redesigned a couple years ago, but the Tundra dates back over a decade, with an MCE 4 years ago...wonder when an all-new one incoming...
  9. It's like lighting a fart on fire.. heh-heh-heh.. maybe the Corvette team was inspired by Gundam and Transformers for styling, and Beavis and Butthead for some of the details...;)
  10. Kind of a 3 row midsize is how I think of the Durango and GLS...(and the GC and GLE being the 2 row midsizers on the shared architecture). The GM and Ford BOF full size SUVs just seem considerably larger, whether they are or not in all measurements..probably more perception more than reality..
  11. I wonder if the CUV/SUV demand will fall off and sedans will rise again eventually....
  12. The LaCrosse Avenir looks good..esp. like the brown interior. Not sure about the wheels, though..a bit bland looking.
  13. Maybe they will be simulated flames. So as not catch pedestrians on fire. As far as Lamborghinis, the flames usually come from out of the engine compartment or underneath, as they tend to catch fire easily.
  14. Funny thing is the Navigator and Escalade will have the same transmission...presumably different tuning. (I assume both will get the Ford-GM JV 10spd auto?)
  15. Oh, I understand the functional need to get air in..but can't they get air in without the violently ugly styling? Alas, it's not just Chevy..it seems most performance and performance luxury cars today go for the violent cartoon robot styling...so boring and overdone, IMO....
  16. The C7 styling is pretty over the top...same thing with the Camaro ZL1...great performance, nasty cartoon front end... Chevy--great performance, but such silly styling--can't they have beauty and performance? The transformer robot cartoon styling is so played out... too much plastic and carbon fiber cheese...
  17. I read the article in Car & Driver last night. It's the 6.2 LT5 with an Eaton supercharger..similar to the Z06, but larger supercharger, more power. 750hp, 680ft/lbs torque. Because the blower is so tall, the center of the hood is left open for it to stick out... The big rear wing and fin tips on the front air splitter are part of an option package...there is a 'base' ZR1 and the over-the-top one as pictured in the magazine article.
  18. auto pilot for planes or for tractors tractoring in fields are easier scenarios than driving, when you account for the other traffic, obstacles, road conditions, types of roads, etc...
  19. Remember, Lutz was not a designer...wasn't he more of a sales guy and product planner? Being in IT for 20+ years and seeing the complexity, fragility, bugs and insecurity of software on a daily basis, I can't imagine trusting software to control something as complex as driving....
  20. I think at one time maybe 15 years ago or so, Golfs in the US came from Germany and the Jettas came from Puebla, Mexico. Not sure about today...
  21. Just no market for a 2dr crossover w/ zero outward visibility, I guess...it was the Camaro of crossovers with it's silly tiny windows.
  22. Enjoying the fall weather this week..cool, windy..lots of rain a couple days, dry today..sun going in and out. Tree pics from my front and backyard.
  23. Mmm..given Opel's GM history, it would be very weird to see a non-GM Opel brand in the US...unless they would be trying to spin it's German nature in advertising/branding. (Though I'd rather see one of the French brands come here, like DS or Peugeot).
